- St. Gemma Galgani, also known as the Flower of Lucca, was an Italian mystic born on March 12, 1878.
At a very young age, Gemma developed a love for prayer. Throughout her life, she had mystical experiences and special graces. They were often misunderstood and ridiculed by others.
Gemma loved the poor greatly and helped them in any way she could. After her father's death, 19-year-old Gemma became the mother-figure for her seven brothers and sisters.
She wished to become a nun, but her poor health prevented her from being accepted.
On June 8, 1899, Gemma felt an internal warning that some unusual grace was to be granted to her. She felt pain and blood coming from her hands, feet and heart. These were the marks of the stigmata. Each Thursday evening, Gemma would fall into rapture and the marks would appear.
They remained until the following Friday afternoon or Saturday morning. When the bleeding stopped, the wounds closed, and only white marks remained in their place. Gemma's stigmata continued until she prayed for them to stop due to her declining health.
Gemma then went to live where she was allowed more freedom for her spiritual life than she was at home. She was frequently found in a state of ecstasy and on one occasion she was believed to have levitated.
During apostolic investigations into her life, all witnesses testified that there was no artfulness in Gemma's manner.
In January of 1903, Gemma was diagnosed with tuberculosis. At the start of Holy Week in 1903, Gemma began suffering greatly. She died at age 25 on Holy Saturday, April 11.
St. Gemma Galgani was beatified in 1933 by Pope Pius the 11th and canonized in 1940, only 37 years after her death, by Pope Pius the 12th.
She is the patron saint against temptations, the death of parents, of students, of pharmacists, and against tuberculosis. Her feast day is celebrated on April 11.

I found St Gemma Galgani's prayer randomly on the night of my conversion. I was lost and in a very dark place when I suddenly felt a desire to pray. After praying, my heart was filled with love, peace, and joy that I had never felt before; and all I can think about was "JESUS YOU ARE REAL! EVERYTHING THEY SAID ABOUT YOU IS TRUE!" I was also crying with laughter because it felt like I finally found what I had been looking for all my life. Then immediately right after, I felt a deep desire to learn more about Jesus and His Church. I believe St Gemma Galgani has been looking out for me all this time like my other best friend, St Therese of Lisieux. Both of them had struggles quite similar to mine and they are almost the same age as me when they died. One of my motivations of becoming a Saint is to thank them personally and join their sisterhood in Heaven. ❤

I too came to know Saint Gemma as you did. After 60 + years away from the Church. With a prayer to Saint John Paul 2 . Up pops Saint Gemma Galgani. It been over a year now, and firmly back into my faith. I have made Saint Gemma my Devoted Patron Saint. I have read her Life Story, twice. I am so devoted to her I pray 2 novenas daily for the rest of my life. Oh, pages 108-110 in her life story make me smile. Gemma is something else. Even with Jesus, she wouldn’t take know for an answer.😂. Now at 80 years, when the time comes. I look forward to see Gem in Heaven. My Friend 🙏

I wanna leave this as a testimony for whoever is reading this: St Gemma has helped me many times before, and is a tremendous saint. She is a fountain of mercy and kindness, always willing to help those in most need of God's mercy, including the worst sinners. Pray for her intercession. She is always willing to pray to God for you; to ask Jesus Christ to have mercy on those who need it. Her love of Jesus can be seen in her embrace of His Passion. Don't be afraid to ask for her intercession.

This is because many movies, even some 'Christian movies' lead my thoughts down alleys I'd rather not go, and some relatively 'tame' nonChristian movies, I realise, dull my sense of sin.
I considered avoiding YT altogether, but ... I do like the online Mass and some online prayers. So, here I am, fighting the desire to watch my usual movies.

Reading the books of the New Testament, we probably asked ourselves more than once: *"Why 2000 years we do not see those miracles that accompanied the Сhurch of Christ in the I century, as described in the New Testament?"* Why do the so-called preachers of Christ have to prove that Jesus really existed and atheists boldly deny the historicity or divine origin of Christ? Maybe because the Сhurch of Christ has not existed for 2000 years?
The Сhurch does not exist in the form in which it is presented in the books of the New Testament, but there are Catholic, Orthodox, Protestant and other christian sects claiming to be the place of the Church, but they not have the only thing that distinguishes the divine from the human and is characteristic of just the Сhurch of Christ -the reinforcement of the word with signs, that is, miracles (Mark 16:15-20). Therefore, some researchers doubt the historicity of Christ, and some of them are not opposed to declaring him a an ordinary philosopher, teacher. But even if Jesus were an ordinary philosopher, his disciples would be ordinary followers of Jesus. And they would not dare to write about the miracles that not only Jesus, but also his disciples, could perform. In this world, the great fertility of atheism can be explained by the fact that there is no main opponent of critics of the Bible - the Church. If there were the Church in our time as described by the authors of the New Testament books, where miracles are performed, the sick are healed, where prophesied, and the dead are raised, no one would doubt the historicity of Christ. Then there would be the same controversy throughout the world as in the first century - Jesus the Son of God or the false prophet who seduces the world by miracles. As a result, we can say that the emergence and development of christian sects and atheism was the result of the fact that over the 2000 years the Сhurch of Christ did not exist.
