i dont think of it as lack of originality in sound design but more like formants being a main instrument of this genre today. these sounds are "over-used" because its just something that fits in this style of writing. i love how it sounds and its not about the design of the certain sound, but the rhythm you can make with it.
actually IMO it doesn't sound anything like Terror Squad

So this is dubstep now, all of must dies songs have been sounding the same...
why fix what aint broken?
To innovate, that's how you discover new things, by trying out new things.
They do, but to ruin a sound that golden isn't good either, as a producer I don't lose my particular sound while innovating it at same time as well.
for example;
MUST DIE's first hit with NSD was Fever Dream Pt.I.
Folks loved that song.
So what they chose to do was to keep that sound going and change on it only subtly throughout their time as an NSD artist.
Not completely change it with every song.
All that kinda scale of "innovation" ever does is confuse fans and make them less likely to enjoy MUST DIE's or any other artists work more so.

its because he has no real originality. he produces what he hears other people do, he just does it real high quality so people seem to follow him. never understood the hype.
