Tbh from my own experience, yeah it's a little better to start with a simple prop. I made the Kirin Kinsect Glaive from Monster Hunter World complete with the Psuedocath Kinsect and LED's on both... it was frustrating because it seriously was the first props I've ever made and it's about 1 to 2 feet taller than me. Take my advice, try something small for funsies. You don't even need to do it for a cosplay or anything, just pick a cool little weapon to do. Because I had to redo my prop 3 times, that was extremely frustrating and expensive to do. I had no idea what I was doing and barely had any tools to do it in a timely manner. Such as power tools which meant I re did a 6-7 ft weapon 3 times by hand and hand carving tools. Yeah not fun. I'm glad I made it but I don't consider it a smart move on my part. I plan to redo it again since I now have the proper tools so I can fix the mistakes my first prop still has. But hey if you want to try a big prop go ahead! Just heed my warning, if you have 0 experience with making something you will screw it up and that's ok it's just more expensive the more bigger/complex you do it.
I know exactly what you mean dude; when you nail those small details it lets you admire it up close and take it all in at the same time. Pistols are great for that.
i was wondering what type foam/Styrofoam you used to make those i know you've probably been asked this so many times but im relatively new to your channel and want to get into this type of stuff and i dont know what type of foam/styrofoam that is and from some of your other videos it looks really easy to carve with

Again thanks again for putting up the templetes for free. Btw, how well do these templates transfer over to EVA foam?
They transfer the same as they do for Styrofoam =) Its just EVA you need to layer the mats to create a thickness.
