I see why you only have 15k subs..... you missed the point of this whole segment. It isnt the worst of both worlds, its the best. You get the benefits of a SUV - the height and ground clearance. You sacrifice a tiiiny bit of storage. It has the same rear length and same rear width, so you only lose space via the sloping roof line. And lets be honest, how many people NEED that space,... it would mean you're 100% filling the rear area. anyone who complains about this is 99% of the time just whining ... probably less than 1% of people will USE that space lost via the sloping roof line. So, you get benefits of a SUV HOWEVER, all SUV's look the same. the q5, the glc 300 , the X5... no difference at all , big boxy, boring SUV's, with the coupe bodystyle you get something that looks DIFFERENT from its competitors, the coupe suv's are more differentiated. Generally, they look sexier and sportier. ^ this is why the segment exists and this is why the segment is dominating. How do you not see that?
I have a 2023 Q5sportsback .Living in uk where there are plenty of badly maintained roads and potholes the 20 or 21 inch wheels with low profile tyres, whilst lookin good are not practical,so I got 18 inch with 235/60 tyres, which are much better. Great car .love the style and drive.
I have an 2023 Audi Q8 and got it brand new, and the Apple CarPlay is glitchy about 20% of the time as what you have seen in this SQ5. I either have to power off the vehicle or mess with the Connected Devices in the Settings.
@@GTGarageTalkthink you misunderstood his comment. There is an S (sport mode) for the transmission setting that removes the lag you mention. You had it in D during your test, which is much slower. Next time you test an Audi be sure to switch transmission from D to S. Totally changes the speed and shift points of the transmission.
You are on an island with this review. The only review I’ve seen (and there are many online) that pretty much pans the SQ5. You begin by stating you don’t like or understand this class of vehicle “Who is it for?”
I’ve had 2 Audi sq5 , the mk I was bulletproof and the mk ii was so problematic that I traded it in and bought myself a BMW X3m competition. would never have another sq5.
I am driving this car for 2 months now, and there are more cons then pros, unfortunately. Drive and engine is good and that's where good things end. Materials, design, ergonomics is surprisingly poor for that price (I have S line 40 tdi).
Audi interior materials are just plain superior to Genesis. The feel of buttons and switches are better. And unpleasant exterior noises don't penetrate the cabin to the same degree as the Genesis.
This is all subjective. As is the term "better" but from a family of three who have sampled both in a relatively close proximity to one another, we would gladly have the Genesis over this SQ5.
I see no point to the Sportback. You pay $3k more for what? I am fine with my new SQ5 the way it is. I am not concerned about what people say about the “bland” exterior. I do not drive it from the outside. I had thought about the GV70 a year ago, but could not quite get excited about it. Speaking of appearance, that car shows some discoloration or whatever the right word is for chrome pieces and the wheels get a worn look (clear coat?) which I wonder if Genesis will ever address? I did not care for the look of the GV’s wheels to begin with. I will see how well the Audi maintains its overall “health.” Last year, I made the mistake of buying the Lexus NX 350 F Sport. No character to that car, noisy engine, wind noise, smaller than the Q line and sport seats were not too comfortable. I bought it for the supposed reliability, but traded it in for the SQ5. I probably should be leasing as I like driving newer cars. I will have to wait until interest rates come down a bit. Fortunately I have the money to burn. I have real sport exhaust tips, among other items. My end of year sale 2023 had an MSRP of $76k and I got it for around $65k. Still had to pay through the nose to get this car, but hey, you only live once.
The color is rather blah for the SQ5. Maybe red. Fake dual exhaust outlets make no sense. No arrow on the gas tank symbol on the dash. Wonder why. Don't like the square edged infomat screen. The shifter is backwards to most cars. Normally you push it forward to park not reverse. Fantastic acceleration with lots of giddy up and go. Stop/Start systems are worthless for me.

All vehicle details are in the video descriptions.

Pop it in Sport mode while in Dynamic for faster off the line

Please revisit this review after you attempt to trade-in or sell a Genesis.... Cheers

That Audi is nice. I agree, I can’t wait to see the production version of that new GV80 coupe
👍🏼
It may not go into production.

Yes. And I stand by it
BMW originated the SUV coupe. so how they don't have it right?, everybody else is following suit
How does Audi maintenance cost compared to other companies?
If you’re in the US more than American or Japanese similar to other German probably less than British
I ended up buying the BMW X3 M40i. I love it!!

V6. ???
yes.

Not according to Edmunds
All Q5 are 4 cyl.
@@evieburt5633 This is the SQ5, which is the sport version, see link in comment above.
The 2023 SQ5 Prestige Sports Edition is V-6 cyl that’s the one that I have.

Yes, silver is a color I would never choose myself.
It was fun to take on backroads for sure.
@@GTGarageTalk Really looked like you were having a great time on the backroads with that silver bullet.
It's still nice to see a regular shifter instead of the tiny toggle switches on some new BMW's and the new Porsche Cayenne.
