Never neglect the fact that he is more than just an ubersuccessful commercial performer and prolific composer. His gift of notes and tunes and rhythms is what won over the world. Yet on top of all of that, he happens to be one of the finer nonclassical pianists. It's so understated in his performance (compared to the visuals and vocals) that many don't recognize his great playing skills. You piano players already know this about him. And he does that WHILE SINGING - different notes than he's playing, with even different rhythms, if you can even comprehend that. Kids, don't try that at home. EJ==master.

@@pnynx His voice is not gone. It is different. More "soulish". Of course he has to sing to songs lower especially "Goodbye yellow brick road" and "Someone saved my life tonight". I love his latest albums too because they match his current vocal abilities.

He always gives the best interviews. He is a repository of rock and roll history, and it's obvious the way he speaks that he's very intelligent. His remarks at the beginning were confidently delivered and thoughtful, as were his answers to the questions. Well done, EJ, from a fan of 45 years.

A friend lives near Elton’s house and his son (aged around 13 or 14) attended a local school some years ago now. The pupils were given assignments to carry out for the school newspaper and James was tasked with getting an interview with a famous person. He wrote to Elton requesting an interview and to the family’s amazement he rang the house to arrange the interview. James and his Mother went to Elton’s house and he gave a wonderful interview ...... I read it ..... with no time constraints. I do like the fact that he has time for people, as demonstrated by talking to the college students here.

He dropped out of the academy. He pursued a career. He held no animosity towards the academy at all. It was just an opportunity to perform that took him away from them.
So many times dropouts are dismissed as quitters and traitors of sorts. But Elton was still a product of that academy and saw great success in composition and performance because of them.
Now instead of just being a classical conservatory, they teach many more forms of music. Probably in no small part due to successes like Elton John.

For the commenters bringing up politics...Really, people? Since when is it necessary to mix music with politics? Music is universal enjoyable that humans from all walks of life enjoy, including animals, regardless of political sides or affiliations, or non-artistic interests.
Only small minded POS humans go to music venues where fabulous magnificant artists perform from a deep place with their passions, heart, soul, blood, sweat and tears to look for politics and whatever slogans are contained on patrons tshirts and hats. Small-minded dimwitted, sad people do this.
So then. for the persons looking for politics at Sir Elton's venues, I hope I don't know you or ever meet you because you are not worthy to meet, sad sad bores.
Rock on, Sir Elton!! Have been in love with your eccentricities, song, and artristry since I was 15 yrs old. As I have aged with you, your music has remained a steady rock in my life and Sir you are truly a legendary gifted artist and inspiration. You've always been a GIVER, never a taker. God Bless and Peace and Love!!!!!!!

Elton literally said in the video that it doesn't matter who you vote for, anyone can enjoy music. Also, he mentioned that music brought people together. Also, I don't see any political comments here, just commented praising Elton

You are so talented---and a child prodigy--I wish your childhood would have been more joyful, but experiences we have make us who we are. I guess you had to go through it for a reason. As for people criticizing you about the Michael Jackson stuff in your book-don't sweat it. You were honest about your observations. People are just mad about how it seemed somewhat judgy like about the mental illness. All in all though it was a fine book and you're a great talent! Can't afford to go to your concerts though (as much as I'd love to) because the tickets are just so expensive.

I am gay and a trump supporter, and I am touched by the many trump supporter type of people I see in his concerts. More so than liberals and gays. Why? Because Elton entertains. He is a humble, no nonsense man
