    No.
    Alien Romulus is 1999's DEEP BLUE SEA but in space.
    1. David Jonsson is Samuel L. Jackson
    2. The scene in DBS where Brenda screams at the tower when the explosion happens is when Isabela Merced screams in Alien.
    3. The A.I dude without bottom part of his body in Alien is like the guy who has no right arm when the shark bites it off.
    4. The scene where she opens fire with no gravity is where Susan in DBS electrocutes the sharks lighting sparks everywhere.
    5. The elevator at the end in Alien like the elevators in DBS as well as trying to go up to get out of facility/spaceship.
    6. Many ladders 🪜 climbed in both movies and where Isabel Merced is wanting help at the door trying to get away from Alien it's like Janice crying for help in the shaft before trying to get away from the shark.
    Yeah, they're not exactly the same scene for scene... but many similarities.

    I'm just so sick of the black goo and wish they would have just left all that behind. I feel like Ridley as the producer was over the director's shoulder like "You gotta use the black goo. It's a great idea. You just use it to make anything you want happen in the plot. I'm brilliant."
    Also I feel like this movie kind of struggled to have its own identity. It was more like a greatest hits collection of the Alien franchise. Even the ending that everyone is going crazy for was very derivative of Alien and Resurrection.
    I definitely liked it more than I disliked it, but I still left the theater feeling disappointed. Thought it could have been a lot better.

      There's an interview where Ridley Scott boasted about the notes he forced into the movie. Which we can only speculate were the weakest parts of the movie with the lame Prometheus connection. It's a flawed movie, I still liked it a lot though! I also refuse to acknowledge Prometheus as canon and I will use whatever mental gymnastics I have to in order to decanonise it in my head 😂

    I agree with you that soft resets are OK because they return to a sense of normalcy, and that’s the problem with Romulus. It acts as though it’s going to be simple in its execution, but then is nonsense with gravity purges, and contrived crashes and landings into docking bays, And the idea that the corporation would take the time to find the fossilized alien in space but would leave an entire station floating above planet decrepit to the point where it stated in the film it’s going to be destroyed at 36 hours anyway.

    I liked it cuz you did a good job.
    Having said that, I overall enjoyed the movie... i only had two issues with the movie... and one of them keeps bothering me.
    1) "Get away from her you b*tch"... ya, that felt really forced... like "oooh, they said the thing!" I cringed hard there
    2) The black goo thing... in and of itself, I don't mind the black goo being a thing... but to me, that really didn't belong in this film. Chronologically, this movie takes place BETWEEN Alien and Aliens... yet, because of what appears to be VERY ADVANCED LONG-TERM RESEARCH ON BLACK GOO... the Wayland Corporation seems to know WAY TOO MUCH at this point in the timeline, that it almost doesn't make sense of Wayland's approach in the LATER movie Aliens. I can see Wayland knowing that much AFTER Aliens, but not before, which, like I said, kinda throws the timeline off for me. Had they done this movie WITHOUT THE BLACK GOO research... and maybe just had Wayland studying the Xeno and nothing else, that would have been perfect... but it just seemed to me they knew waaay too much too soon in the timeline to have Aliens make sense.

  • @AlienDrone_22
    @AlienDrone_22 2 месяца назад +3

    This movie was so frustrating for me. There is so much to love and so many things we want that they did right. The atmosphere, props, settings, practical effects, etc were exceptional.
    However the issues I had with this movie bothered me enough that they basically ruined its good will. The cgi face of Ian Holm (Ash, Rook) was so horribly bad and distracting, and it wasnt even necessary. They could have come up with a completely new synthetic with a new actor. But no, memberberries. So godamn bad.... and he's in the movie alot, which makes it so much worse.
    The stolen lines from Alien and Aliens are just as bad. The line "Get away from her you bitch" had no fuckin business being written into this movie, especially when you realize that this means Andy said that line before Ripley in this timeline.
    Just why. This movie could have been a near perfect sequel but they just couldnt help themselves. Had to fuck it up with garbage decisions like these.

    • @Primarch19th
      @Primarch19th 2 месяца назад +1

      I will say this to you, do your own research: There are marketing companies that TELL studios when to repurpose a movie. A movie can get a "redo" every 7 years. Kids to young the first go, can go see a movie (7+years later) the second time. They call it the "7 year itch". Look at the history, movies get redos when the timing is right! Ugh. Just build up your Blu-ray library. It is only going to get worse.

    Seeing this just reinforced the thought that a dead space movie would be a no brainer, idk why they haven't made one yet,
    But yeah this movie was awesome af, it had its issues for sure, as much as I was a fan of the Andy character i didn't like him getting that 1 line, it didn't belong at all an really cheapened that moment,
    I did like how they had that one android come back, but I wish they would have worked on the cg a bit more, considering how he was such a big part of the movie,
    i really did like the beginning, the ship stuff, in xd, man it almost felt like we were lifting off in a real ship, lol
    I will say i expected a bit more cool new alien stuff, maybe a king alien that was being talked about quite a bit, but yeah I expected more cool gory end scenes, some more cool new alien lore, new types.
    but still that finale with the newborn or whatever the f it was called was great,
    I didn't expect it to be as intimidating or disgusting as it ended up being,
    When we first see it in the egg it was almost comical in a way, the way it just has that face an then the acid just so happens to melt through the floor right when the chick was about to destroy it,
    As she tracks it the foot prints are getting larger an larger, I was like wtf is this thing gonna look like? an then there it is, it makes it's grand entrance, & I almost busted out laughing because it definitely wasn't what I was expecting it to look like, with that pin head an all, but as we see more of it, I realize that face is of an engineer, it has all these disgusting features & holes, like the one where it's lil me is hiding, ?, an that gross disgusting tongue, then how it smiles as people run from it in fear,
    I was thinking this thing is actually pretty sick, really reminded me of that creature from re 4, the verdugo, something like that.
    But yeah all in all, it was fun, hopefully the director gets to work on something like dead space, or the thing, or resident evil, maybe even a new Friday the 13th.
    Great video breakdown.

    I reckon I got something out of this movie. That being said, Romulus was nothing but a stitch job of every film in this franchise. It had a generic plot with bland characters with the exception of Andy. The Android Andy does remind me of Father from the series Raised by Wolves( A Ridley Scott produced series). The dad jokes are a lot similar to that show. I enjoyed the CGI recreation of the character Ash. The Xenomorphs were somewhat impressive but not scary. In my opinion The Alien franchise has run its course. The first two movies were it's peak. I rather watch A Quiet Place movies. Those are better Alien films.

    Andy the Android, aka Alien: Romulus.
    I'm sure i read somewhere about Fede's being tasked with making a movie about "the perfect organism" and so reigniting the Alien franchise.
    He kinda did, only it is not the Aliens but Andy the Android we're dealing with. Its structural perfection is matched only by its ability to instantly trans* with a quick and simple chip change and software upgrade.

    Enjoyed the movie. Was better than expected. Wish the would not show so much in the trailers. It keeps the show more suspenseful. Like many movies today the scrip needed some more work. There were so many great concepts to work with like are synthetics tools versus people. Free choice versus command. The whole idea of having to choose when to save a life. Some choices were dumb in the movie which would have been solved with more thought to the script. Really hated the use of the line “get away from her you b****”. Use the lore but using one of the most iconic lines in cinema history in that way was so forced it really took me out of the experience. Can’t wait to see more alien movies. Just make all the characters more likeable and flesh them out. I want to care when they die.

Never so happy to see those 2 dying, the annoying asian getting her ribs cracked and the british guy eaten alive by a acid dripping vagina. I thought the lines were thrown on the verge of ridiculous, like the movie was begging to be loved. That baby thing was a bit of an asspull as well to get us in aliens and prometheus at the same time. Absolutely boring movie, its like in the last 20min they realised they were making an alien movie and just smashed a bunch of aliens in one space and then a lame ass cameo for the engineers at the end. I wish I could unwatch it. There are so many holes in the plot and I feel absolutely nothing for the characters. It was just a cash grab, like The Crow, but in space.

      Well it wasn't as great as some critics said but it was definitely the best alien sequel since alien 3. All it needed was a higher body count but that's all. Everything else is perfect. It even makes sense of the Prometheus crap.

      @@mania4270 When the pregnant woman ran off the scaffolding like a looney tunes character and plummeted a couple stories. Did you like that part? I thought I was watching Daffy Duck? Did you like how Andy would conveniently break down to move the plot along? Did you like how at the end of the film the protagonist, by 1 million to one odds, somehow hit a switch that caused the alien to fall into space? It was completely absurd. If people like the movie, OK you like it, but do not make it seem like it is a good movie. If Troll 2 came out today people would say it is the best movie to come out in the last decade.

      @@mania4270I think resurrection was better. The characters were better, the Xenomorphs had tons of screen time and the hybrid looked better. All in all this film was a huge let down and it rode the coattails of LITERALLY every installment before and had nothing original about it.

    • @mania4270
      @mania4270 2 месяца назад +7

      @@biashacker like a looney tunes character? She just fell. And that scene was one of the scariest scenes in the franchise. She's banging on the door and Andy wouldn't open it. That one scene have me more tension than all of the alien sequels. But yeah let's take points off because she fell down like a looney tunes character. I actually like the ragdoll physics in the movie because they fit the sound effects, which honestly were top notch.
      Again I think that criticism you just have sounded like you really don't understand alien. I can name so many silly sequences in ALL of the alien movies by that logic. Why does the alien look like it's hugging Dallas when it attacks with its hands out? That always looked goofy to me when I watched it as a kid.
      Andy breaking down convenient makes sense, he's an old model. He literally breaks down most of the movie. When we meet him, it's shown that too much stress would cause his systems to break down. So it's not like he breaks down for a cheap reason. He literally does it twice. And that's because the alien attacked the group at the end. The face hugger scene, he wasn't breaking down, it was an update. So please, let's not even try to use these cheap "logic" criticisms that really don't work.

    • @mania4270
      @mania4270 2 месяца назад +1

      @@ScrimpBoat I'm glad it has nothing original to offer. What I want is an alien movie. Not some philosophical finding God in the middle of space nonsense or no stupid bladerunner android with a god complex. Alien franchise is already established. The xenomorphs host and eat ppl and have a queen. Let's stop trying to reinvent the will.
      Resurrection was GOOD. But the problem is that after Christie dies.....screw that movie. They didn't need to kill him off like that. Next to johner he was the most entertaining of the crew and right when he dies, resurrection goes off the rails. Then the newborn kills Destepato and for me it's just a cheap way to get the non white characters out the movie. Screw that. Dude has an alien in his chest for legit the whole movie and gets super strength and beats the crap out of Dr. Wren. Wtf? Ripley screwing the alien queen and having the newborn was STUPID. It's also nasty. Not cool nasty but like wtf am I looking at nasty. The only thing I didn't like about the OFFSPRING was that it was too much CGI at times. But it was designed better than the newborn.
      Alien resurrection is a fun, popcorn action flick. It's my first alien movie I saw right around the time avp came out. The water sequence is a banger, Christie and johner are certified badasses. But it's problem is the Ripley 8 and Call story line. They don't need to be in the movie. They should have just found another xeno infestation or made some shit up. Ripley 8 as a concept is cool but in execution is a letdown. What does she do with her strength and new abilities besides the using her acid blood to suck the newborn in outer space? they never do anything bad ass with her outside the basketball sequence. So when the movie starts to focus on Ripley 8 and Call developing some relationship, we don't really care because Call is annoying and Ripley 8 doesn't explore her past enough for this sudden relationship with a synthetic really mean anything. Like I said, after the Christie's death in the ladder sequence, the movie just goes downhill and starts getting way too deep and allegorical for no reason and stops being a fun action movie and ends up being BOUND in space. 😂
      But I still like what it gave me though. But personally I would rank the movies:
      1. Aliens
      2. Alien
      3. Alien 3
      4. Avp
      5. Romulus
      6. Resurrection
      7. Avp:requiem
      8. Prometheus
      9. Covenant.
      But I may change Romulus, avp, and 3 constantly. They're all around the same to me in different way.
