I just finished the Bill Hodges trilogy by Stephen King, which I really enjoyed. Another few of my favorites that I read over the summer was Silent Companions by Laura Purcell, The Elementals by Michael McDowell, The Thirteenth Tale by Diane Setterfield, Wakenhyrst by Michelle Paver & The Blackwater series by Michael McDowell. 😊
Also way to go for running! I'm a runner now but was absolutely not athletic when I started and had never even run a mile. Just don't do what I do and buy too many running clothes or shoes 😂 it can be addicted but it's hard to balance the need for clean clothes and doing laundry sometimes!

One idea for a video: How to define/choose/style your own version of ‘dressy’ or special dressing (Think Thanksgiving dinner or Christmas or holiday party.) In each season I struggle with what’s dressy enough but still comfortable for me and the situation. Your long striped dress made me think of this.

Loved the vlog, and all yes to the organising and decluttering someone’s wardrobe, and any challenges you would like to set yourself! I love Linen and now I can embrace the crinkled look,which adds character to the items, I don’t iron anything now, I have mostly natural fabrics and when just washed I flick, smooth, hang or fold and works fine and I don’t know why I wasted so much past tome ironing 😅 Suze. 🤗 x

I purchased two pairs of linen shorts, slightly longer legs, for summer back in January for $9 each reduced from $59, they are a white and a beige pair. We are heading into spring here in Australia and it is already 34°C (93.2 Fahrenheit) today! So, a long, hot spring summer ahead for us here in the West. I haven't shopped at all for around the past three months, so I am really proud as I wanted to do a low buy 😊 On a quick note Val, YT unsubscribed me from your channel a few weeks ago, luckily I picked up on it quickly and resubscribed, just in case it has happened to your other subscribers. I love your style! I've missed your videos! I got a linen shirt st the beginning of summer very similar to yours and I also didnt wear it. It feels fancy to me, I don't like how it wrinkles instantly and it doesn't have any give so its not super comfortable. But I'm also not ready to part with it 🤷🏻♀️

I am in the market for a new pair, but the style is so clunky right now. My summer wardrobe was a lot like yours… a few pieces that I felt good about and kept wearing over and over.

I found it a very interesting mindset that you have that somehow the stripe dress is 1). a ‘statement’ item 2)and even if it really was , therefore for some reason it cannot be worn many multiple times. Not trying to judge you, there is nothing wrong with how you think or feel and I’m not trying to say there is. It does seem like it may be a similar situation like what you explained you had with the more lighter color linen items …1) being concerned they will get ruined and 2) that they are too fancy for everyday. I would just consider thinking about your dress differently…to me a blue and white stripe dress is quite ‘ basic’ and even if it is slightly more ‘statement’ compared to your other items ( though I don’t think so) then I would consider why you would think it isn’t something that can be worn over and over multiple times? I think that might be some ‘capsule wardrobe rule ‘ …that ‘statement’ items somehow can’t? or ‘shouldn’t’ be worn as much as a more ‘basic’ items. I wouldn’t agree with that. Especially when it comes to your specific dress. Even if that is some statement someone, somewhere once said, I don’t get why you would necessarily choose to believe it. You have a beautiful dress. If you like it and enjoy it and it ‘works’ for you and feel good in it, wear it whenever and however much you like to. Statement item or not. This is just a gentle ‘challenge’. But you do what ever you feel best. This is just intended to be helpful. If it is not for you then completely ignore it. So glad to see you back..you were missed but so good to hear you took some time off to be more present and enjoy your family. Good for you. Looking forward to your video line up.
