- Today I'm sharing my summer capsule wardrobe that is actually NOT perfectly sustainable... and that's totally ok with me! My summer capsule is full of items that are made from natural fibers, even though some of them were bought from fast fashion stores. But most importantly, most of my clothes have been in my wardrobe for many years and are going to last many more!

I'm so done wearing my stained worn out things to bed. If you spend say 8 hours sleeping, and say two hours awake in those clothes, shouldn't they be the best version of what you can afford? Sleeping me deserves better than stains and holes. Lol that's where I'm at.
I love that you expressed that some of your pieces aren't perfect, that you try and make em work as best you can. I think we focus too much on finding the perfect whatever and end up with six different versions of the same thing in the search. Lol
That is a good point! My sister has a couple of fancy looking pajamas that she wears to sleep, and they look so nice!! I will think about that for the future..

Yes, it serves as a good reminder! I find myself getting obsessed with something and once I get it, I am like “okay, love it, what now?” 😅
Making a wishlist helps but also trying not to get influence to buy something.

I love the anti-perfectionism message! Yes! Clothes don't have to be perfect to be worn and enjoyed. Good enough truly is good enough, and so much less wasteful than the impossible quest for perfection.

Thank you soooo VERY much for sharing with us that you've stopped chasing "perfection"!!! I'm trying to do the same, shopping my closet to use and wear out what I already have. As I'm wearing my things I weed out items that I really don't like as I wear them, which is also great for decluttering. I think choosing wisely, thrifting/sewing and taking good care of our clothing makes them as sustainable as shopping only sustainable (expensive!) brands. I love your realistic lifestyle choices and your styling sensibilities. Plus your thought to wear the good stuff instead of saving it. Always so excited to see your posts! Happy summertime!

I too really appreciate hearing you say that some of your tops are not perfect but they’re good enough. When going through my closet, I have trouble when I ask myself if I love a particular item, the fact is, I don’t love every single item based on its color, fit, or even quality. However, I think it’s OK to love some things for their function.

I’m learning to dye my and my kids clothes.. I buy white shirts and I dye them with tea and coffee super easy.. also I live near the red rock mountain and I used the red sand to dye the shirts and it came out a bright peach color so much fun and none toxic dyes :)

@@ValKovalchuk Happy you finally procured the black woven slides. Enjoy! As you know, they'll last forever. I have Nisolo mules but I found they gave me blisters on my toes when I wore them for street walking. I purchased no-show HALF socks (with no back) to wear inside of them. Can't wait to try that out and see if it works because otherwise, the mules are SO comfortable.
Thank you. There are so many ways of approaching sustainability, and keeping items for as long as possible, and mending / adjusting them if necessary, is very important.
I recently helped a friend to sort out some of his late wife's clothes. Most of them have been donated, but I was given a winter coat which isn't perfect, is a bit big, but is a great colour for me (grey-blue). It will fit over a thick jumper which is ideal.
But right now it's bikini weather 🙂

Hummm. You really have me thinking about whether or not I’m having an issue with looking for ‘perfection’. I know what I want and what I like and even what I need but so often I cannot find it. And I get so frustrated and discouraged. I find trying to check all the boxes very difficult. Fabric/ natural material, fit/ size, color, style, accessibility, and cost. I have gotten so frustrated, it forced me to come up with a pretty good solution for most of my thrifted purchases which is most of my wardrobe. I purchased a sewing machine. I thrift mostly because I find better quality ( usually more natural fabrics) but often they don’t fit well. Or something is just a little ‘off’. So I’m learning fast how to make alterations of all sorts.
Yeah chasing perfection can be a big stumbling block to just wearing our clothes and going out to live our lives!

Sometimes I feel guilty that I can only afford clothes at H&M or Ardene. I don't have enough money to buy those high quality, sustainable and eco friendly pieces.

I think I just did a version of the zigzag stitch on the edges, and it’s still holding up!
