Yeah, the problem is, the movie is dead wrong.. Lemme explain.. If I told you the killer of Officer Tippit discarded a jacket shortly after shooting Tippit, and Lee Oswald discarded his jacket at basically the same time, what could that possibly, or likely (lol) mean?.. They were the same guy, of course.. And the massive amounts of evidence in this crime supports that.. So, why is Lee killing a cop?.. Discarding his jacket?.. Trying to kill more cops when he resists arrest?.. He was a cop killer, no doubt..
The problem with the attacks during 2001 is that they've possibly already accomplished what goals they had in mind. Perhaps what needs to be done is to try to grasp what happened as a result of 9/11 and calculate whether its reversible.
One problem is that he bad guys always seem to have bottomless pockets and endless amounts of time to plan their evil & sneaky projects. Combine that with how much of the news doesn't inform but rather distract or misinform. Also, modern life advances quite fast. Things get changed quick when everyone's shocked into a state of stupor & pressured to follow the band wagon.

This is a movie, people. When the bullets struck Kennedy, bone and flesh altered its path, striking the governor in the front seat, not unlike a ricochet.
The greatest piece of acting Kevin Costner has ever performed. And a scene written about the Kennedy Assassination but applies to our world right now might be the greatest contribution that Oliver Stone has ever made to his country out of uniform. Justice does not come into being automatically.
To say the movie is powerful, informative, and impactful is an understatement. The monologue in this scene is equally telling. When I saw this just before I entered the US Army, I was already a researcher of the assassination due to my parent's influence. My father was a career (23 years) US Army soldier who fought in Korea and 'Nam, and my mother is a TV journalist and producer. Both were privy to things most folks would never know due to their professions. More so for my father, who later worked for IBM (government contracts.) Having been a poor student but a scholar when it came to history, the 1960s was and has been my favorite decade to study. That said, it's also one of the most suppressed. When this movie came out, my whole family went to see it. My mother couldn't stay during the shooting reenactments of JFK, and my father kept his composure throughout but was very, very silent afterward for some time. About a year later, the anniversary of the assassination was being talked about on TV. I asked my dad what he thought about the movie based on what he already knew. He told me the movie was good, better than good, but the "Dealey Plaza" scenario played out in the last act gave him pause. I needed to familiarize myself with the term and asked what he meant. He told me the shooting scenario postulated in the movie was something he had done countless times in Korea. He taught that same tactic to troops in Advanced Individual Training in the states and elsewhere (South America), including replacements for 'Nam. He said it was an "L" formation. I had some idea of what he was talking about because I had been to civilian military school [Kemper Camper], but I still could not appreciate what he was saying. Another year went by, and I had been assigned to an Infantry Unit. Even though I was a Combat Medic, every 'non-combat' soldier was expected to participate in Infantry combat training, whether as a medic or a grunt it didn't matter and honestly I LOVE IT! On one op, it suddenly dawned on me. I knew what my father was trying to convey to me. He knew that the shooters were military veterans! My father never talked about actual combat, never talked about the friends he lost, nor spoke ill of the enemies he fought against. He never raised us to hate anyone, even the people who tried to kill him (my hero.) When I went home for a four-day pass, I had to get something off my chest. So I asked my dad the question. "When we were talking about the JFK movie, did you feel bad because you think vets participated in the assassination?" He responded with a sigh and said, "I feel bad because I might have trained or served with the guys who murdered the president." He had that same expression that Costner had at the end, and it cut me to the bone. We never talked about the movie or JFK again.
It's hard to believe this movie is over 30 years old now. My brother was working downtown at the time when they were filming motorcade scenes and traffic was blocked off.
This screenplay was so well written. Stone’s finest moment with the pen and camera. And a Fantastic ensemble - I still love John Candy getting a turn in this. Great movie!
One thing I think people may miss in this scene is how when Kevin Costner looks into the camera at the end and says “It’s up to you.” Before he delivers that line the camera rises up. It is Stone’s way of saying we should all rise to the occasion and stand up to corruption in our government. It’s really a subtle way of challenging us to do this.

5Mariner He was "claimed" as innocent. If it truly was the government, wouldnt you think they wouldve payed off the jury or something like that. Many people in government wouldve been trialed and if they were found guilty, then our government today wouldnt be what it is... He was a threat to power. And what ever you threaten always to fight back.
+Lt Col Speirs To me, there is no definite proof of a conspiracy, yet I would not rule out the possibility. The CIA, the Mafia, Castro, LBJ, etc... All one big parlor game as Mr. X says.
"...build ourselves another government like the Deceleration of Independence says to when the old one ain't working..." Sadly enough these words are truer today then they were in 1969.
The story of this man bringing this case to congress and trying so hard with all his research is so moving. It’s like saying the average American can’t do anything about what happens in America but the fight for truth is worth it even if he lost. It’s what is so important about being an American. The quest for justice is so inspiring in this film.
It's bigger then even they thought. The torch is always passed. So do we fail the cause in our time. Today is the day of the battle . The battle of good against evil. Greatness against mediocrity.
"Show this world that this is still a government of the people, for the people and by the people. Nothing as long as you live will ever be more important. It's up to you." Prophetic words considering what is trying to get himself re-elected in '24 and how dangerous he is. The idealism JUMPS off the screen in this scene.
I have seen this scene so many times and only now realized he's breaking the fourth wall at the end. I think it's time yet again to watch this masterpiece, been too long...
Saw this in the movies with my wife in 1991. Everyone laughed when Kevin Costner's Declaration of Arlen Specter's Magic Bullet Theory .(We were in Pottstown, Pa.)
"The truth is the most important value we have...because if the government murders truth, if we cannot respect the hearts of this people, then this is not the country I was born in, and it's certainly not the country I want to die in." If ever this echoed, it echoes today.

@@kgkgaming06 do u really believe those files will be true though? What are we gonna do if the own gov happened to be a part of it, whos gonna arrest/justice to the gov?
Yeah, the problem is, the movie is dead wrong..
Lemme explain.. If I told you the killer of Officer Tippit discarded a jacket shortly after shooting Tippit, and Lee Oswald discarded his jacket at basically the same time, what could that possibly, or likely (lol) mean?..
They were the same guy, of course.. And the massive amounts of evidence in this crime supports that..
So, why is Lee killing a cop?.. Discarding his jacket?.. Trying to kill more cops when he resists arrest?..
He was a cop killer, no doubt..
from a time, when movies still had guts and meaning. stone´s eternal masterpiece.
Platoon is his masterpiece..
we truly lost our country when they got away with this. Not to mention 9/11.
I wouldn't say the government caused 9/11 but I think they let it happen, could of stopped it.
Damn, I hate to say it but you're right!
They murdered everyone that got in their way. We definitely live in the proverbial matrix
That speech is priceless and moves me every time I hear it. Especially when he breaks into tears.
Just finished watching this on Vudu. The whole speech by Kevin Costner was incredible. I was teary eyed near the end.
These are people who cant afford to send money but do ... gets me everytime.
Costner's delivery was really emotionally inspiring.
This message is needed now more than ever.
Just finished watching the movie for the first time. It was great.
No matter how many times I watch this movie, the way he delivers, "do not forget your dying king" completely levels me.

Specifically what are you asking?.. Why is the New Orleans connection BS?.. Why is the conspiracy nonsensical?.. Or why is Oswald guilty?.. Or all of the above?..
@@jacobjones5269 you said it's TOTAL nonsense, i asked why

Well, there’s zero evidence of anyone other than Oswald being involved.. And he certainly killed a cop and acted real guilty after that, so… The heck with him..
And Oswald was at home virtually every night while he lived in New Orleans, with the lone exception of the night he had his famous radio debate with Carlos Bringuer.. He certainly wasn’t galavanting around with homosexuals.. lol..
Garrison’s case hinges on 3 witnesses.. A male prostitute, a heroin addict, and a man named Perry Russo who testified under oath he had his daughter fingerprinted when she returned home from college, to make sure she was really his daughter.. lol..
Not exactly credible..

When you question the government it’s a conspiracy, but when the government questions you it’s an investigation…
The guy killed a cop, discarded his jacket to change his appearance, then tried to kill more cops when he resisted arrest..
He’s connected by physical evidence on his person to all 3 locations where physical evidence is found in the Tippit killing, and he’s repeatedly acting guilty..
He discarded a jacket and so did the killer, what could that possibly mean?..

Honestly who in this world believes the magic bullet theory it is ridiculous, it is nuts...
Yeah, it's not as if the seats of the limo were arranged in such a way in order for the single bullet theory to make sense... OH WAIT!
EHH246 They weren't. The President was sitting higher.
The "magic" bullet theory portrayed in this film is not accurate to real life events! It's made for television drama!
This is a movie, people. When the bullets struck Kennedy, bone and flesh altered its path, striking the governor in the front seat, not unlike a ricochet.
Just forensic scientists and computer ballistics software, that's all.
Kevin Costner is such a charismatic actor. One of the greatest ever.
This is withouth doubts one of the best speeches ever spoken in movies, probably the best (whole process is really intensive).
The greatest piece of acting Kevin Costner has ever performed.
And a scene written about the Kennedy Assassination but applies to our world right now might be the greatest contribution that Oliver Stone has ever made to his country out of uniform.
Justice does not come into being automatically.
I'll never forget the first time I saw this movie. 3:20 point of this scene was so powerful it took my breath away
More so for my father, who later worked for IBM (government contracts.)
Having been a poor student but a scholar when it came to history, the 1960s was and has been my favorite decade to study.
He never raised us to hate anyone, even the people who tried to kill him (my hero.)
When I went home for a four-day pass, I had to get something off my chest.
We never talked about the movie or JFK again.
get meds bro
Damn! When he looks at us in the camera It’s as if he’s talking about 2020 America and it’s every bit as true as it was then as it is now.
Look at us now 🙄
Or now
It's hard to believe this movie is over 30 years old now. My brother was working downtown at the time when they were filming motorcade scenes and traffic was blocked off.
Wonderful performance by Costner here.
Amazing lovely film, Thank You Mr Stone and Mr Costner for this tribute to the last american hero President Kennedy.

such a great movie very inspiring, Jim Garrison is an American hero
Except he isn't! Clay Shaw was innocent!
5Mariner He was "claimed" as innocent. If it truly was the government, wouldnt you think they wouldve payed off the jury or something like that. If Jim Garrison actually won this case, the entire government establishment, its structure wouldve been changed. Many people in government wouldve been trialed and if they were found guilty, then our government today wouldnt be what it is... He was a threat to power. And what ever you threaten always to fight back.

The story of this man bringing this case to congress and trying so hard with all his research is so moving.
