About Me
My name is Brandon Herrera. I'm the owner and operator of The AK Guy Inc, a 07 Firearm Manufacturer based out of Fayetteville, NC. I also co-own Stark Media Group, and designed the rifle known as the AK-50.

Are those screenshots of vanguard actually real? How the fuck did they forget to correct that stuff? Must have been left by mistake
Yo Brandon the axe flintlock was actually a real weapon. Back when flintlocks were still in use, as you know they were pretty much all single shot weapons, and cutlasses, swords, axes, they were all still in use as well. So some people decided to combine the two, and quite a few of these hybrids were actually made and achieved some degree of success before more modern weapons took over.

the Stopler Revolver is a good place to start. I post a pic of it whenever someone starts spewing the '2nd Amendment only applies to muskets'. it's an 8 shot revolver from 1591 Germany, and probably made by one of my ancestors.

That "contraption" is a Trebuchet, the largest type of siege engine. They're fun to build in all sizes, since you don't need a complicated type of stored energy, all you need is a weight, a lever and a sling. I saw one lobbing a piano... And dead cows.

in russia there is an another name for the mosin which is "Трехлинейка" (literally translated to three line rifle)
The axe-shotgun was actually a significantly more viable option than the sword-gun and knife-gun, to the point that Polish(I might be wrong) Cavalry were known for carrying them. Shadiversity has a great video covering this subject.

Yeah it makes sense, the handle is thicker so it's less likely to suffer any crippling damage and if the axe is long enough you can grab the handle like a normal rifle to shoot
Yes, they used a whole bunch of odd weaponry. The pike made of 2m long steel rod in the form of a sword is among most common ones. I presume they used the long barrel pistol as "blunt-hurt" weapon anyway so adding some useful edge makes a lot of weight savings. While it ramps up the kill ratio. The one shown he is not preaty one. Better you can find at Royar Armory Museum channel by Jonathan Fergusson. The gun he shows is ship vs ship fighting tool.

The Axe gun was used, especially at sea. One shot and then with the time to reload, it made sense to not have to worry about dropping it and pulling a cutlass or saber. Just use the gun as your melee weapon and with the axe blade (easier than a sword or knife type blade) it was effective.
Royal Armouries YT channel did a video about the a gun that looked similar to the one in this video. It was a boarding gun/axe

Yes, Sholohovs anti tank rifle(противотанковое ружье Шолохова) chambered in 12.7x108 was indeed single shot. And upscaled Mosin that copied idea of T-Gewehr(itself upscaled Gewehr98).

The game that has a drum mag m1 garand, THAT STILL PINGS
And a shotgun with a rotating drum, that can be upgraded with a "fast swap mag" that just causes the player to take a clip out the bottom and completely forget that it's a rotating drum shotgun

Too lazy to see if anyone else mentioned it, but that Axe gun is a genuine piece of naval history. It's a Boarding axe, a flintlock rifle with an axe head bolted around a shortened barrel. The idea being, you get /one/ shot in a boarding action, there's no way you'll have time to load again, so now you have a hand axe instead.
Right, it's actually a blast to shoot. The historical education Guild I'm with; Clan Darksail, have two of the 8 firing examples of the piece that are not behind museum glass. In our history of black powder show our Madam of the whorehouse Jolene Papillon fires it.

Also, the Polish-Lithuanian army used it back in the days of the Commonwealth. Apparently they loved the thing.
It was *just* an idea, though. Such combi-weapons didn't actually function well as something to stake your life on in battle... as evidenced by the fact such seemingly useful things never caught on!!
They would've proliferated like wildfire if they were desirable. Instead, their most famous appearance was in Final Fantasy VIII and various steampunk settings filled with other crazy stuff like that!
@@henrysokol3466 Well, i was very Niche at the time of it's usage, naval boarding actions were actually incredibly rare, usually only happening after a crew already surrendered and there was no need for fighting. And as soon as Cartridges became a thing, the practicality of it went out of the window. Though there are examples of revolver knives, and pinfire revolver sabres, and other such things, they were almost exclusively made by request of some eccentric noble or a gift for an officer, not practical and usable gun-melee hybrids.
But to say the boarding axe didn't catch on wouldn't be entirely true. as the one in this video is the model 1703 swedish boarding axe, issued to it's navy. And it is one of several different patterns of boarding axes known to have been fielded in the world. It just didn't really last all that long. For reasons stated before.

That third image was an actual historical weapon. Gun axes were actually more popular, or at least functional in battle, then gun swords and they started popping up around late 15th to early 16th century.
Very true, although I'm reasonably certain the image is of an non firing replica, the completely nonfunctional kind, so the image is still cursed, just not for the reason Papa Kalash thought.
Yeah, pirates really liked them but they were fairly popular all over the place. It helped eliminate the main drawback of carrying a musket into battle, being, of course, that you only have one shot.
Very popular with polish cavalry as well

The gun axe was actually a pretty solid piece of hardware. There were whole battalions of Polish infantry that was issued them.

The bayonet shotgun saw is actually quite a handy piece of equipment... Now you can 1: down a small tree with a well placed blast and 2: process the tree into firewood with the sawyonet.
2:16 I want to say Shadiversity did a great video on how gun-axes are actually fairly practical in the 16th to 19th century eras of combat.

Yeah, the early era of firearm was more of "if I somehow hit that person that would be great" rather than a precision long range weapon. Many military doctrine of that era also taught their soldiers to use their musket like a spear when enemies got too close.
The stock pistol grip from an M249 SAW actually fits perfectly onto the receiver of the FN-FAL and is vastly more comfortable to use than the standard grip.

The colt 1311 is basically a mini wooden trebuchet mounted on a pistol grip. Weight on one end, sling with ammo on the other end. Weight goes down, arm swings and projectile goes flying

2:09 My grandfather actually HAD one of these. I shot it many many times growing up! This was actually a really common thing to do. As muskets only shot once, you would want something to use in the melee after. That's why most muskets were effectively spears (if you has a bayonet affixed) after they were discharged.

The funny thing about CoD vanguard's fifty cal mosin is that it's still called the "three-line" rifle; which is how Russia described the .30in cartridge. A "line" was 2.54mm, or .10 inch. It's literally calling it a 30-caliber rifle, somehow firing Russian .50.

@Don do the made the same mistake as ww2. Crest your own character and then put them in different factions, don’t have people crest a character for each faction.

CoD Vanguard did make the biggest art gallery of cursed guns in the history. A few of my favorite examples:
- How to curse iconic M1911?
Add extended magazine, flash muzzle, laser and of course a holo.
- How to curse classic Thompson?
Name it an Assault Rifle, add a drum magazine as a standard for this gun, and if you want to step up, you can turn this gun into Hellriegel.
- If you think that M1 Garand can't be cursed:
What if you add a tactical grip and a friking drum magazine to it that still does iconic *ping* noise?
- MP-40 also can be cursed.
You can even make it switch the side of the conflict and turn into PPSh with silencer and double drum mag.
- BAR is cursed just like Tommy.
An Assault Rifle (according to the game)... The rest you'll know.
- STG-44 is the best...
Remove stock, extend the barrel, add silencer, add drum mag and don't forget about a holo. I'm sure it works well.

I think that the stg that was "modernized" was a reproduction because of the wood furnishing's color, however I don't think they've ever made reproductions of the Johnson rifle soooo......

2:13 Jonathan over at The Royal Armories covered the Axe-Gun on September First. Yes it was real... that one maybe not so much. also back during Master At Arms they did flintlock-Axe as well. and they worked surprisingly well too.
Flintlock Axes were Boarding weapons when jumping from ship to ship back then.

The shotty-saw looks handy. The grip ergonomics of hand saws are pretty good, and the shotgun is helpful if there's a tough knot on a piece of lumber.

The gun axe was a legit weapon, they also had gun swords. In the early days of firearms a lot of crazy things were tried and the gun axe wasn’t that uncommon. Think about repelling boarders on a ship, you have one shot of dubious reliability and accuracy with your gun now what? The gun axe could also chop the grappling hook lines or the enemies/pirates/vacuum salesmen. It was arguably better than the gun swords too as you had a longer barrel and sturdier construction. Shadversity had a video on these guns.

I suspect it was more a case that the guy got an underfolder AK and decided that they hated the feel, but couldn’t figure out how to take the stock off. So they just left it folded and put the AR-15 stock on it.

4:18 he actually was, the STG 44 was one of the first firearms to be fitted with a night vision optic, it was a ridiculous looking contraption requiring a backpack that was basically a car battery but it worked surprisingly well

Funny thing about the AK with the AR stock is that it's the same reaction I had when I saw the blaster rifles of the First Order and Death Troopers in the Sequel Trilogy and Rogue One, respectively.

If that bothers you, go through Destiny gonna and firing animations. They’ve had/have some fitting animations of revolvers with shells flying out or a bull pup into a skeletelized stock with mag way behind the action. I only noticed after years of playing the game and days of watching AKdaddy
