    I'll share my boat trailer experience with you. Firstly the galvanised break lines cracked, then I noticed my rotors were about to crumble. I had ventilated discs with standard (non SS ) callipers on my 4.5T rated trailer. Although I hosed them religiously after each use the rotors actually rusted from the inside ie, the vented section. From the outside they looked fine. I replaced them with stainless steel rotors, hangars, callipers and ceramic pads. I also replaced the crappy galvanised brake lines with stainless steel braided lines. All up cost was over $5K including labour. This included new oil bath bearings too, I didn't hold back. So after a kid on a bike nearly went under the wheels one day I thought if the cops ever put me over the weigh bridge I'd be over the 3500 kg towing capacity. I sold the trailer (which weighed 1T and now has a Randell sitting on it) and ordered a new ally I beam unit with full SS running gear. It was not a cheap exercise but, well worth it in the long run.

      @BaitBallin  Год назад

      Sheesh, yeah understand! Il definitely move to an all alloy unit in the future. But as there is still so many things to do on the boat, I've repaired for now to delay that spend. I also need a new tow car. So will do one thing at a time

    Hey Mark, don't waste your time and money on that bow rail, in the scheme of things there's nothing really wrong with it, if you don't like it consider removing it altogether, they do look good without a bow rail too.
    Also again, dont waste your money, I'd be keeping those existing hardtop rails as the look pretty sturdy and solid, I'd be utilising them to adapt and or clamp another couple of rails running across them to carry the radar and potential carry some solar panels later on down the track, a good fabricator can incorporate those existing rails and make it look an original factory addition.
    Maybe something you dont want to answer but I'd be interested to see the invoice on how much this cost you? You forgot to mention that part 😉
    Maybe a round-about figure if don't want to give exact totals.
    Cheers, looking good, good luck 👍

      Hey man, yeah true. Gotta try keep costs down! As they are adding up very quickly. Roof rails and bow rail are fine. Cheapest option is to buy one of the bell marine rocket launchers and fit myself. Bit over 5g

    Good work, asking a question for tm275lhw, can it run low and high wide at the same time and get your lowrance split screen for both chirps?
    I see a lot of game boats running ss175L&ss175hw, not sure if 275lhw can be a cheaper option than having those 2(specially for an alloy cannot have thru hull)

    Hey mate,love following this build....couple quick questions.....does ur engine cover have any vents for air intake?.....regarding steering wheel...why don't u just install a new cable and helm to bring it up to date with a common 3/4 setuo?...I have a 1976 caribbean reef runner that I'm restoring and have done this as I could not find anything to suit the original helm to upgrade the steering wheel.....I am going to build a new bow rail as the factory one is very ugly 😂...and the roof rails will also ne changed to something custom I will keep u posted how I go with it

    S5100 allows you to run both 3-1 and 275. Sure it costs another couple of grand, but it's best of both worlds. You will also get genuine 1Kw power for both channels of the TM275 vs approx max of 600w on a Lowrance / Simrad.

    • @BaitBallin
      @BaitBallin  Год назад +1

      Your 600w comment, I've heard this but been unable to verify it totally. Il see how this combo goes and go from there. At the moment there is other priorities. Feels never ending!

    • @Camh1968
      @Camh1968 Год назад

      Hi Phil. Are you suggesting the power is stepped down from the 1KW Ducer down to 600W MFD?
      If so, why should this occur? I thought there was no reduction in power when using the Simrad MFD Evo
      3S ?
      I’ll be running both a 3/1 Ducer plus the TM275LHW on a dual networked EvO3 S setup. Will I see any step down in pier with this setup?
      Cameron

    • @PhilShenton
      @PhilShenton Год назад

      @@Camh1968 If you want to run both channels simultaniously, it will be at reduced power. The MFD is 1Kw, the ducer is capable of 1kw per channel. Think of it like an amplifier for speakers There's only so much power to be divided by the chanels The SIMRAD S5100 provides full 1Kw to each channel. I run the 3-in-1 direct to the MFD and the 275 through the S5100. For most users, it's not an issue, as many only want to track bottom and not monitor the water column.

  • @johnevans4015
    @johnevans4015 Год назад +1

    Hi
    Sorry to tell you this but
    If the complete calliper is not stainless steel you are still going to have piston seizing.
    Now I will tell you why.
    The stainless piston is set in a cast iron calliper that is galvanised, and you think yes so what can happen!
    Well the piston bore is machined in to the cast iron, and yes that is ok but, there is a 5mm land between the outside and the O ring and that rusts and jams the piston in and smoke appears and your fishing trip is affectively ended.
    Trust me it has happened to me more than once until I bit the bank balance and replaced all 4 of them with Stainless.
    You don’t have to replace the discs.
    So welcome to the world of big heavy boats.
    Dunbier have a nuylon replacement brake pipe kit for that trailer

    Hello Mark. Firstly, thank you for your very useful advice on boating as it is most welcome. Living in SW Qld, our best option is to travel with our Allison 5.95M in tow to Turkey Beach, a trip of approx six hours with a further two to three hours to the reef. At least we bag out most times.
    This trip is undertaken once or twice yearly, but unfortunately the Covid situation, particularly in 2022 has had its problems.
    It is obvious that you have suffered badly from operations recently and knowing what pain is about may I offer a couple of suggestions that may help. Moringa capsules together with calcium ascorbate should be of assistance, and Moringa can be purchased from Austral Herbs in Sydney. A person on the Qld coast with heart problems was recently advised by his heart specialist to continue with Moringa as it will take the inflammation away from his heart. A lady I know personally takes around thee capsules daily to control neuralgia. In your case may I suggest adding calcium ascorbate, which can be purchased from your local health store, to enhance healing. The only thing I can add here is that you start on one capsule daily, slowly building your capacity to absorb this medication as some people can take only one capsule daily.
    A research scientist who works for the Johns Hopkins University in the USA, Dr Fahey, claims that this plant is the most useful plant known to mankind. Hopefully, the information provided will be of some help to you.
    Your program has come to my son's and my attention only recently but we have watched many of your programs. I thank you again for the information provided.and will contact you again for advice

      Hello Mark. There are various forms of vitamin C. One is Sodium Ascorbate which in some cases may help more than the Calcium form. A personal study of this subject should be very rewarding.
