I tried to make it, but I need the stem file for this song to make it smooth. Because she doesn't use the original music in her song (for copyright reasons) the two don't mesh well. I want to put just her voice over the music from the original to make it sound real.
Pain. This is more of a plain rewrite with a different message and story than "her perspective". Because I've seen a lot of "ugh women" comment, I wanna say that I'm a woman (who acknowledges that humans have their struggles gender aside) and while the song is sad and the voice is beautiful it almost sours the original due to it being labelled as "her perspective". "Like who are you trying to persuade" When the song is purely about him asking her that if she has to leave to leave him "slowly" gently, there's no persuasion. The entire chorus feels like it referring an entirely different event. Talking about him not knowing her, broken promises, and trust that was lost when nothing in the original lyrics "from his perspective" even hint at that. "It's not my fault you're being honest, now." ??? I can't even begin to understand where this came from. I love rewrite, especially ones from different perspectives (Friends is an amazing example with the perspective of the guy, that was interesting too), but I can't help but feel a little- hurt? When all of Alec's songs are sweet or melancholic, and this, instead of building off of what could have been her perspective but the same story (Like what Alessia Cara's part added with adding her own pain in letting their relationship go and missing it as well but knowing it had to happen), it feels like an insult kind of? Again still a good rewrite of the lyrics, just not for "her perspective", but it's own story.
