It's a beautifully crafted rewrite. I know what it's like to be that best friend, and I know what it's like to be the person who can't be saved. It's so hard putting in so much effort to tear someone you love and care about away from the walking red flag they're delusional for. After it ends, the best friend is allowed to be salty and the one who couldn't be saved is allowed to be hurt.

Acknowledging that MC was stupid and made a wrong decision does not equal to blaming her for the actions of her boyfriend. Further, the MC insulted her BFF in favor of her toxic bf. The BFF is allowed to feel betrayed and it was well-expressed in the lyrics.

i really connected to vampire, i listened to it after realising the guy i broke up with assaulted me numerous times across the span of six months. i wish i had close friends to look out for me who i could confide in, i had no idea anything was wrong and now i'm left to deal with it all alone. maybe i'm projecting but these lyrics broke my heart, i would be crushed inside if someone told me it was my fault, it was my first relationship and he truly made me feel like my wants didn't matter.

I had even been there for a few nasty fights and him being condescending. Many of us advised her to leave him. And now they're engaged. Im not in her life like I was, but God I'm so acared for her

You can only hope that she finally will see she's worth more, and do what she can to leave. I know it's hard, but try to be there for her when/if she does need it. Many people in abusive relationships feel very isolated, and the abuser usually wants that to happen to make them more likely to stay.
there's nothing you can do much,, really.. i've been there and most of the times they won't listenn to you, bcs they're very much in love with that person. love make them believe that whatever the partner does, its for love. also, its not easy to move on from a person whom you love dearly no matter how bad they treat you. because once you overlove them its hard to turn back. although i wish your friend the best :(

As someone who was in a manipulative relationship back in high school I had friends who made me feel crazy after the fact. I don't totally know what vampire is originally about but if it's related to abuse or manipulation I don't recommend making your friends feel like it's their fault in real life (outside of the context of a song).
it's more about a friend who tried to warn her other friend about the red flags of the man she was falling for but was betrayed by this same friend who chose the new guy over her calling her crazy but yet finding out she was wrong. and no not all the bad partners are manipulative or abusive you know, sometimes they hurt your feelings for leaving or not feeling as invested or even for seeking more than you can give. still not a reason to bertay the ones who were always by your side when you just chose to ignore the red flags... we can't blame our friends for feeling bad after letting them down, their feelings are just as valid as ours after a bad break up, even more since we were in the wrong for letting them down over someone we knew was bad news. moreover, when you listen to the lyrics you can understand that the friend singing is actually feeling bad for her friend and kinda comforting her and making her realize that she is partly responsible of her pain since she made the bad choices.

I think when the partner is abusive and/or manipulative they're working hard to make sure that the other partner doesn't see what they're doing which is why they can turn on their family/friends. Your experiences are very valid on your end and definitely would be hard. It's not a reason to "betray" as you said however I was more so meaning that when that friend is out of a toxic relationship and they come to you it's best to talk about how you felt and what you went through but to not make them feel that the abuse was their fault.
I was supporting Sam since day 1, I was there when she hit 1 thousand followers. I was supporting her before when she only have over 500 followers and she even noticed me here on youtube before. I can't believe she's a big singer now, she's successful now. I am so proud of her and her twin sister. I still listen to her old songs, my favorite songs. I play them all the time especially when I'm so down. Her voice and songs are my medicine. One of the songs i love is the "I can't sleep at night" that she wrote 2 years ago. It hurts sm when they leave you for him because you tried to tell them he wasn't a good person...n they end up getting hurt n come back to you but it's never the same again because of how they treated you.
Absolutely, you find out they’ve been betraying you WITH their toxic partner by talking bad about you only for them to come back to you when they realize that the advices they laughed at was the right one, after I found out, I never gave my friend another advice even when she asked for them.

This feels really victim blame-y 😞 Honestly until you are in an abusive situation you will never understand why it is so complicated & hard to get out of. Half the time you don't even realize it was abuse until you are out of it. I know it is frustrating as a best friend watching someone be abused, but please try to keep your anger at the actual abuser, they are the ones manipulating your friend into taking their abuse (and possibly scaring them into silence/ acceptance). Your voice is lovely and of course everyone needs to create art to express their own personal feelings, but as someone who has been in a situation like Olivia describes, if my "best friend" was singing about how my abuse was my fault, it would shatter me. "I told you so" is pretty harsh on top of dealing with the actual abuse itself. Again, unless you've lived through it, it's really impossible to understand how incredibly hard it is to leave, or even realize abuse is happening when it's happening.
This isn't victim blaming, it's being written from the perspective of the best friend of this person. It's not to be written as how the victim suffered, it's the best friends pov of it😭 Obviously the victim suffered it's just that that's the point of the actual song.
