Do you travel with a weapon or when walking trails? Knife or something?

Hey there, Anthony. Traveling around the country places you under many different jurisdictions. Understanding all of the rules can be nearly impossible, but there are organizations and a couple decent publications that can help educate you on the rules.

Thanks for explaining General Delivery! I've heard mention of it on other RVYT channels, but never a thorough description like yours in this vid.

Hello, Dynac! It can definitely be a little tricky. I am new to it but discovered ordering online can be troublesome when the website software does not let you type the address the way you want it. Sometimes, I have to use General Delivery as a company name. Anyway, just one example of how it can be an issue. Take care and safe travels!

Hi Mario, I understand that all the firearm laws can be confusing and a misunderstanding could be trouble you don't need. But if you are going to be spending time in the western states, maybe some bear/pepper spray would provide you some peace of mind when out hiking back country trails. Better to stop and eat lunch, than be lunch.

Hello there, Jersey Jim. I hope the nor'easter melts before the next front moves in! I try to be aware of my surroundings. Some days I might do a better job than others. One message I try to convey, and I think you already heard it, is that it's easy to be criminalized for defending yourself. Since ignorance is not an excuse, I encourage people to research the rules. Even bear spray is restricted in some areas. I have seen restrictions on hatchets. Other areas may have signs posted, "don't wave your firearms at others".

What color was the cat? We have a lot of puma and mountain lions in southern tx. Hope you are still enjoying our great state!

Hi J Hen. Hope you are doing well! I can best describe the cat as a uniform brown color. It was coming up on 3 PM. So, the sun was not real high. The appearance may have been slightly darker than other lighting conditions. Immediately, I knew it was a cat. It was sitting like a cat. The size is why I thought Bobcat, but nothing else indicated bobcat to me. A young mountain lion would be a close match, but the uniform color and very short legs provide doubt. I did see indications of white or contrasting hair near its feet and at its but, but the overall coloring best matched a couple of photos and video I found of a Jaguarundi.

Here's my free advice, go out and purchase 2 or 3 cans of bear spray. Always carry on your hikes and anytime your on foot!! I'm a 42yr law enforcement officer. Enjoy your travels.

    Mario,
My brother and I saw what appeared to be a mountain lion at Falcon State Park by cabin 17 a few years back. We stayed up late by the camp fire and the cat just slowly walked by us on the edge of the fire light and darkness. We just stayed still and let it pass by. Scary, sure, Cool, ABSOLUTELY
