Welcome to the latest episode of this series looking at all the rolling stock used by the train operating companies since privatisation.
This time we look at the first Thameslink franchise run by Govia between 1997 and 2006.
Filmed on a Panasonic HD100 720p, a Sony MiniDV camcorder and an iPhone X.

Do the rolling stock of SWR
It’s worth pointing out that the 319/0s that weren’t refurbished by Thameslink (319001-319013) and the 319/2s (the refurbished 319014-319020) weren’t operated by Thameslink, instead by Connex and subsequently Southern. They were only subleased to Thameslink in the late stages of the franchise before fully passing to First Capital Connect around 2009.
5:48 seeing the white wagn livery, the purple one, i remember that rhubarb and custard one too.. ahh man from the way they sounded to the way the seats smelt, i REALLY miss those 317s and them days

I remember going on one of these 317s from brighton up to kings cross thameslink was bloody fast at top speed, good memories
Do you mean 319s? 317s weren’t capable of running on the southern region

They were quite fast given that they were about as aerodynamic as an old Leyland bus!

I love that green strip livery on the 317, theres been so many liveries on the 317s over the years on both the kings x branch and Liverpool st lines
The 317 are not my most documented units but I may gave enough material to feature them in the future

What's the station with the massive gradient?
That would be the route between Blackfriars and City Thameslink. Not sure if you can still access that view point today.
Will they ever use those disused platforms at moorgate again do you reckon?
I doubt it, the link at Farringdon was served to extend the platforms towards the Snow Hill tunnels, I believe that the Met Circle and H&C lines have access to the platforms as I have a video of the 1960's tube stock using them but not for regular use.
@@BPMR gotcha, its always nice to explore old options tho, just like the line from Tottenham hale to Stratford, was closed for years and the re opened it, nothing wrong with that

I dnt see why they cant allow some trains not to stop there sometimes.
