guys never guess Germany unless its undeniably Germany. their privacy laws mean they have very little Streetview coverage. same for china and India, though it can still be those if it's a photosphere. you get better at this game primarily from just learning the metadata, license plates, bollards, signage. you can look at the sun to discern which hemisphere you're in if you're totally lost. would also advise not guessing russia if the big group of flags has an EU one in it smith
I would add that in case of India the reason why there's no Street View here is not because of privacy, they're is no such concerns over here. The person in charge of making a ruling when Google asked deduced that Street View is a "terror risk." And that was that!
Also they should keep an eye out for water and on which side of the land it's on, as that can often tell you if it's a coastal country and which one(s) it may be.
Hey boys you should try a challenge against each other (not battle royale) where you get the same 5 locations each and it adds up your total score based on how close you were. Bit of a different feel to the battle royale game mode
Hats, useful tip. When it comes to language, zoom into the map and you can see the subtle difference in write styles from place names. Particularly for Eastern Asia.
You say it's educational, but I'm still not sure I've learned much of anything, except for the fact that middle-of-nowhere houses in America look a lot like middle-of-nowhere houses everywhere else in the world, haha Still loved the video though! Love watching Trott just giggle to himself as he guesses the countries right XD
Please someone in chat let them know there's a compass they can use to look at the sun (or shadows) and know which hemisphere they're in. If it's spanish you can tell if it's latin america, you also never have to guess between US and Australia like Smith does.
I love Geoguesser but honestly the Battle Royale mode is taking the best bit out of the game where you can just wander around and explore a bit. Would love to see you guys do the original mode!
10:18 The line-up of flags actually do help here, because the Bulgarian flag is the only flag to the right of the UN flag. Here in the US our flag is raised higher than other flags, so I figured there was some kind of similar distinction present outside of a diplomatic building like this.
as Polish citizen i must agree with Smith. I live in big city which is crossed by long ass river and we have massive forest next to it. For the wondering peeps, its called Bydgoszcz.
there is indeed a US State Streak mode on GeoGuessr! or you can play a regular game and that way give yourself partial points for neighboring states as well (a little more forgiving, since many states can look the same).
Here's a tip, Germany has really strict privacy laws, so you can barely do street view anywhere in the country, so if it's a german speaking county and you can move around quite freely with street view, it's Austria or Switzerland
Obviously ppl know their country quite well but it didn't even take me one second to know it was Finland, just seeing a dirt road in the middle of nowhere I could somehow immediately guess just from how the dirt road looked like that it was my country lol, what really sold me tho was 12:09, you can't get more Finnish than that!
If you zoom in on the map you can see what their language looks like and that narrows the area down. And there's many cyrillic using countries and if you look a certain things about the countries you get you'll learn what they look like for next time. Also, have a look at the medal list on your account and you can see the countries that they do not use eg. Belarus. 👌🏻
as a Dane I'm insulted that they think Denmark and Poland look remotely similar. The fact all of Europe use ISO signs and drive European cars does not mean the countries look the same
I’m living off of a hotspot 4G as router is knackered ffs. Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa not now. It’s coming tomorrow please work I can’t live in lockdown without it or any other time.
Countries that speak Cyrillic are Russia, Romania, Bulgaria, Ukraine, and Serbia. Belarus is a dictatorship that doesn't allow google maps into it. The Baltic states all use the latin alphabet. The Nordic countries don't speak German. AAAAAA
The HR is for 'Hrvatska', which is Croatian for 'Croatia'
I get why Smith said HungaRy though
Who does not know this? What's up with UK education?
@@positronalpha i know..its sad..Im from Slovenia and we learn about european countries when we are like 12 years old lol
@@positronalpha The world is a big place. Do you know the native language name of every country on the planet?
@@positronalpha From New Zealand, had no clue until I played Geoguessr
Another exciting episode of 'Uruguay or Andorra?', featuring Bulgaria as the repeat country of the week!
Bulgaria: The country of choice if it looks depressing, there is snow and it has cyrillic writing.
Ross struggling to pick out Norway was painful to watch 😆
A fine job on Bangladesh though!
@Truth Speaker I can't argue with Truth Speaker
Bangladesh being blindingly obvious is one of those "you are getting good at this game" landmarks
Not as painful as Trott looking for Sudan in the Balkans
I want more of this simply so these boys improve their geography.

Y'all take this game way too seriously, holy shit.
@@_Trash_Goblin Such is the ways of competitive gaming, my friend.
Not anymore!
Trott gets the correct answer from the most unlikely things 😂
Wow I loved watching this Geoguesser Battle Royal Geowizard Travis Scott Drake Among Us video

"Sudan Cupping Test" sounds like something the boiks should try out during their first post-epidemic Vlog
Ross staring at Malta on the bus....guesses everywhere but
When Ross said he was looking for Jersey AFTER clicking UK I thought I was gonna have a stroke
Hats, useful tip. When it comes to language, zoom into the map and you can see the subtle difference in write styles from place names. Particularly for Eastern Asia.
yes please this and Bob Ross I need more

Most EU countries uses the english spelling for "STOP" on STOP signs.
Most countries in the world even
To be fair to us the spelling is the same in Dutch
In many languages stop means stop and is the 'native' spelling. Now I've said STOP too many times in my head and it lost all meaning.
Flag knowledge is pretty helpful in this game, both for identifying flags you see in game, and for knowing which countries have already been chosen
As a Canadian I love how Canadian Canada looks.
I love Geoguesser but honestly the Battle Royale mode is taking the best bit out of the game where you can just wander around and explore a bit. Would love to see you guys do the original mode!

I recognised Finland even before smiffy looked at the signs, it just looked so typically Finnish around there XD
These are so enjoyable to watch
its hard to watch..they are terrible
Ross: sees bus saying Malta, zooms into Italy and Malta, clicks Italy >.
That whole last one I was screaming to myself 'That's Wolfe Island!!!! Canada Canada Canada!'
as Polish citizen i must agree with Smith. I live in big city which is crossed by long ass river and we have massive forest next to it. For the wondering peeps, its called Bydgoszcz.
Smith I beg you stop telling them where to guess when your out
My god yes
RT
10:18 You always put the most important (so usually national) flag on the right most side. Hence it goes EU member states, EU then the Bulgarian flag.
This is surprisingly fun. I like following along and guessing.
there is indeed a US State Streak mode on GeoGuessr! or you can play a regular game and that way give yourself partial points for neighboring states as well (a little more forgiving, since many states can look the same).
Poland, Hungary or Estonia, somewhere around there - so, somewhere in Northern or Central Europe? That certainly narrows it down!
God that Canada round looks like such stereotypical Southern Ontario there would have been no other guess I coulda gone with.
I'm loving the new content you guys are bringing out, keep it up!

it really shows your theory when they could all guess the UK almost immediately
You should try the bristol and south Gloucestershire maps be interesting to see you play those ones :)
Still obsessed with Christopher McTrottimousse thinking the Sudan is an urbanised European country.
As soon as I saw the wind farm I joked it was gonna be Wolfe Island. Lo and behold it's fucking Wolfe Island
SAME! I was like 'oh this could be Canada' and then I saw the Big Sandy Bay sign hahaha
More Geoguesser please! I wouldn't mind getting other people involved too!
The Yogs should do a big 10-person battle royale
Mousie's been doing quite a bit of geoguessr. Simon did some a while ago. Others have as well
I'd like to see more of this tbh!
Got Finland right by thinking that looks like my summer car. Haha
They have loads of maps on geoguesser. From American states to all the weatherspoons in the uk!
I saw those fucking house and knew it was my home land ireland
I'm annoyed they got it off the pebble-dashing though, don't want to be known for that lmao
smiffy: what sounds like german... danish XD wut
It actually kind of does. If it looks slightly German it usually ends up being Dutch or Danish
I live right round the corner from that Austria round
Love this, as frustrating as it is to watch!
These videos are insanely entertaining consider all it ultimately is is 3 people looking at google street view
Maybe if you boiks add educational to these tags you might hit the milly ❤️ great vid boiks, love it!
Malta being a Spanish Island was a fucking shocker smith, didn't you visit it when you were in the T.A?!
I want Smithy to know I appreciate his use of Éire

HR comes from 'Hrvatska' which is how Croatians call their country
Very much enjoyed it!
Smith's intro is as enthusiastic as me irl
Love y'all's content. This stuff is great!
5:52 I wonder where the **MALTA SOUVENIR BUS** is based?
13:24 Is it back? The censorship of bad words but without the comical beep this time?
lol @ the Bulgaria streak xD
Smith should be so much better at this then he is. He connects the right dots but rushes all his choices
Would love to see them guess Australian city's and towns
Plz try and see if there is a US only one and you have to guess the cities/states. But these country ones have been real fun! Please gib more!
much much to green to be Australia, Smithy
MOAR OF DIS
I think it would be really fun if you did one for the states!
Bulgaria isn’t sideways Italy, that would be Hungary, with white in the middle
as a geography and flag nerd, this was a little hard to watch in places. I should probably apologise to my neighbours for shouting "BULGARIA!"
as a Dane I'm insulted that they think Denmark and Poland look remotely similar. The fact all of Europe use ISO signs and drive European cars does not mean the countries look the same
As someone that's half Bulgarian
this was certainly an interesting one, to say the least
*unintelligible norwegian sounds intensify*
Poor boiks not knowing that Croatia is weird and is HR for Hrvatska xD
More like English is weird for calling Hrvatska Croatia.
@@susannakoo2478 True!

So enjoyable
yes, i'd like to see more.
As someone who knows flags well this is painful
My god they are bad at this
As someone from Bulgaria I must say hi
I am quite proud of the fact that we don't have an American flag on display at my house.
I've been loving these, Boiks! More please!
This was fun.
Do one against Geowizard guys, the dude is a uk RUclips legend 👍🤘
German writing outside of Germany... Probably Denmark then.
