watching you tow your "machine" behind you, reminds me of when my parents must have nearly split up. They were sailing double handed between two west indies islands and the sea was lively, and the wind....a good sailing breeze, except they had decided this time to break a rule and to tow our little sailing chimed dingie ( so much like yours) ...beloved to the whole family. Well....suddenly there was this massive expolosive bang... as her painter broke......and over the horizon went Indingidi... our darling dingy. Engine on, sails down and poor mum on the fordeck manning the boat hook to try and capture Indingidi.....mission accomplished and Dad jumped into the dingie to secure the roap the the thwart.... all in a lively sea........OMG
My wife Lisa and i think if you carry on looking at each other like you do, holding hands and working as a team , life for you two is going to be amazing. Love the videos. stay safe.
That was rather nicely done. I know it's not necessarily the focus of their channel, and perhaps they don't feel the need to fill a niche that Distant Shores has already occupied, but I enjoy when they share their thoughts on the "how-to" of cruising.
Was really enjoying your latest video on being stuck in Indonesia’s paradise isolation bay. I made me think back to when we were sailing the San Blas. That was one of our paradises. So had to watch you video of it. We were there 20 yrs ago but I don’t think there has been big changes there. Still paradise. I am now looking at one of the beautiful Mola’s that we got there. we ended up staying for 2 winter seasons there ( the canal was cheap to transit back then.). We spent summer on the Pacific side of the country. Loved Panama as a whole. One thing that worked well for us was to not spear fish or take any Conch, lobster or incredible Congrejo Centurion. Century Crab. Wonderful. What I would do is go up to a local fishing on the reef and ask him to come by our boat when he was done. They would; and we would buy beautiful Spanish mackerel, Crab, lobster etc. We would pay $1 for each! They were very happy, we were very happy. And I didn’t have to “rob” and of there bounty. Made for great relations and some incredible dirt cheap meals. Thanks for the Videos! And good luck on a window for your crossing the Indian Ocean.
True sailors! Dingy sailing instead of motoring. I don't think I have seen you use the small motor once in these videos, even though I see it hanging off the stern. And all those islands to choose from. I was watching for the S.S. Minnow and Gilligan.
Great Video, I have watched the first 15 videos in one week, I have never seen how to treat a conch, will try it if I have the chance. I am watching several sailing channels, you are one of my favorites. You are very close to the spirit of sailing, much more than La Vagabounde
The San Blas is surely a magical place👍 I love the sailing rig in your dinghy,I'm going to have to do something about organising one of those for myself 😊
Sweet stop...wonderful water. Thanks for detailing the conch removal. Seen the aftermath of shell discarded, but to use a screw driver to do the job was interesting adaptation.
That conch can be like shoe leather!!! As bad as eating some alligator! My jaws are getting tired! But it makes a great tasting soup. Cut it up in small bits and make a soup out of it real tasty. I'd tell you how but I just ate it my Mom made it!
A bit late to the party, but what book were you using to learn to prepare the conch? I didn't see it discussed elsewhere in the comments, sorry if I missed it but I'd love to know!
He said ZARPE and a zarpe is a port clearance document. Essentially its a piece of paper that tells the next port authority that you were authorized to leave your last port legally.
@@stevelambert7496 wow smarty pants .. finally you found the answer , now will have to listen to entire thing again just To fit this word in ma mind ❤️❤️
@@stevelambert7496 aww .. that’s so sweet of you Steve. I owe you this debt. Humanity has returned due to pandemic and Matt and Amy are the sweetest example of the best humans. God bless this channel and you as well. 😊
Don’t kill and eat Collin. Have you got any idea how long it took the get tot that size. I really enjoy your video’s, but I hate killing Collin. There was not much life underwater anyways and you decimated it. I feel sad. But I Love your sailing and video’s.
On any of the inhabited islands in the Caribbean, you will find mounds made of tens of thousands of discarded conch shells.. what Matt and Amy ate didn't even make a scratch in the local conch population.
Your little sailboat dingy is so cool..!! Like you guys! I've gone back to watch from the beginning... I'm here so far.

The key to tender conch is a very quick cook. Just sear on both sides as the longer you cook it the tougher it gets.
Thanks, we will try again when we next find one!
You would not eat Colin if you knew the time required to grow that size! Great vids and great spirit through
I believe conchs are very plentiful.

Did the native villagers eat salads and tofu with veggie burgers?
We are faced with a unique world from those natives. We need to adapt to what we have.
