- Yup, this is the Barbatos that the genius programmers with a great sense of humor put in the game to prevent auto leveling. After about 20 minutes of spinning around on the overworld with your entire party on auto, this king amongst men will show up. It's not possible to defeat him, and the only way to get out alive is to run, like Barby mentions at the beginning. Of course, you can't run if your lazy ass was just hoping to set the party to autolevel for a few hours while you were off doing something else.
He loves item use just as much as you would suspect. :D

@Guilmonhero You can set all characters to "Auto", so they fight automatically. Then you tape the analog sticks down so your party runs in a circle triggering random encounters. The computers fight off the enemies and gain levels while you're on the computer or whatever. Then Barbatos shows up and obliterates your party so when you come back you just see a game over screen. Absolutely genius.
It's one thing to auto-level but you DARE use an item in front of him?! You deserve EVERYTHING he gives you!!!

Barbatos is basically a n00b slayer in this game. If you attempt to beat him in Arcana Ruins on easy, he'll fire his lazor and shoop da whoop you in one hit.
He'll use Cheap Elimination on any difficulty, as a counter to any Blast Caliber
Also, I know it's just auto-levelling stopper, but fighting this guy just feels wrong without Coup de Grace playing.

Btw, auto leveling is still not impossible, just you'll have to run away from Barb once 10 minutes.

3 things about fighting Barbatos:
1.) No using items
2.) No Auto Leveling
3.) Play on easy mode at your own risk cause he'll obliterate everyone with World Destroyer just for playing on easy
That can, however, be avoided with Flash Material and good timing

In this case, he's programmed to be invincible. You can fight him as a bonus boss, though.

If the description is correct, the condition that needs to be met is running around for 20 minutes while your entire party is on auto.

@Kayaraine not so much,those simple bot messages and thats it,if you dont respond here comes Barbatos. i just like mmo's where they deal with bots in a fun way(censoring words,gold sites,by replacing it with another word, actually killing the bots,and my personal favorite:giant monster comes and kills them,think it was the Aion GMs)

If I ever become a GM dealing with bots in an MMO game, I will name my character Barbatos, have him wield a 2h axe, and make macros for him to say "NOOO GOLD BOTS EVAAAR"

Well you can lower his HP to 0 but you can't win. He'll still be moving around killing you.
One question:does anyone defeated him when he appears like that or only in a normal way? (doing some sidequest to fight him)
You cannot defeat Barbatos when he appears if you're doing the grinding auto tactic.

Well, he was put there to prevent grinding. So, it would be annoying to try and grind enough to beat him xD But it would be ironic.
I would give hell! with Barbatos if Use Yuri Lowell and Flynn Scifo Twin Wave Mystic Arte also Millia Maxwell and Jude Mathis Tiger Blade Sigma.

What does he actually say in Japanese? I don't speak the language _at all_, but it sounds something like:
"Kisama ra, konna tokoro de naga naga to nani o shiteiru? Nezumi no youni nige o seru ka wa, kono made shinu ka,..." and I can't follow the rest.
