How to fix your Deluxe Black Series Boba Fett custom to look better than MAFEX

- No surprise that the new Deluxe Return of the Jedi Boba Fett from Hasbro Black Series has some issues straight out of the package. With some very basic customizing skills you can take your Fett to the next-level and looking even better than the MAFEX Boba Fett figure - which is often considered to be the best.
All paints I'm using are by Vallejo:
Wash - Oiled Earth
Dry Brush Highlights - Bone white
Jet Pack - yellow ochre
Chest Lights - Flat Red
To really take your Fett up a notch you can also swap the plastic cloak for a soft goods wired cape but this is perhaps beyond some basic skills, or you would need to buy one from a 3rd party seller.

I'm Drunk and enjoying this very much
Looks great. Don't forget to put some silver in the helmet dent!
Very nicely done. Looks much better. It takes a lot to beat the Mafex Fett figures though.
My figure's on the way, i'll be sure to try this on it!
Easy fixes make a big difference!
@@southp2470 Indeed
Mine arrived today...I'm going to do this ...thanks for the tutorial...
A much needed tutorial.
I didn’t know you had a RUclips channel! I love your photos on Instagram and this seems like great content. I just ordered my Boba Fett Monday from Amazon and it should be here soon and I will definitely use this guide to fix the helmet!
The channel is a knew thing. Thanks for checking it out. You probably have the Fett by now - he's a fantastic figure with a few tweaks!
You can you a blow dryer too! It works just as well
First time visiting 😊great job
Great video and great figure! Mine should come in today and can't wait. :)
Cool. Glad you liked it.
Thanks a lot! The Helmet on my Boba is perfect now!
Pro tip for fastest quick weathering just put your figure thru some mud and rinse it off, perfect weathering every time
That’s great for dirt but don’t be so quick to equate weathering with mud. There’s more to it than that.
Simple, well detailed, and to the point.
Subscribed.
Amazing share man, love it, big fan :)
Cool glad you liked it.
Did you know that it’s a Morrison head sculpt under the helmet?
I managed to get the helmet off perfectly...painted fetts face looks awesome
Did a nice job making the Hasbro look better but the Mafex looks better out of the box.
It does. But Hasbro is close.
awesome !
in rotj he doesnt have the small red strips on the armor
Great video!! Thank you!
Glad you liked it!
What's the name of the Mandalorian music at the end?
I believe it's something called "Boba's Theme by Kim Samuel"
THANKS A LOT, i think i can do this without messing my figure. if i may ask, did you do anything to the leather pouches? also Where did you get that base to pose your figure like it´s flying? Again thanks, the sculpt for this Boba is amazing, it just needs that extra detail you added to really make it look super premium
Glad you liked it. The leather belt also got a little bit of the dry-brush "bone white" colour. This makes it look like aged leather. As for that stand, it's from a Mezco figure - they include those stands with all of their figs.
So✨ Cool!👍✨
Awesome if I could only get one ☝️ LOL thanks for sharing this tutorial.
Great video! Not sure if you'll see this but I'm just getting into figure painting and wanted to know if you sealed the paint at all. Either before or after the weather. Again great video and thank you for the knowledge
Yes I always use a matte sealer from Krylon. It’s a spray can and I just get it from Walmart.
@@southp2470 Thanks for the reply! So do you just seal the finished product or do you do a top coat before any weathering ?
You forgot to add some yellow to the chest plate. It’s supposed to “originally” be yellow then boba painted it green. So yellow should be popping through not just silver
TECHNICALLY it was originally silver, and then yellow, and then Boba paints it green. It was Jango’s armor originally, Boba must have have a more yellow phase with the chestplate, shoulders and kneepads, then started switching to green with his helmet, bracers and chest plate, and then added in some red
I wouldn’t say it’s better then Mafex but it is most certainly better then it was out of the package and the original black series.
Very cool. Which Luke Skywalker figure was that at the end?
It’s a custom Black Series Jedi Luke with the Bespin head.
@@southp2470 oh cool.
I got the retro cardback Bespin Luke for the ESB anniversary line.
I'm hoping that they come out with a new RotJ Luke and Vader
Really helpful video. If you are very brave, you can even reveal the fully sculpted head under this helmet...just saying. It is grey, so it would need a repaint. This is admittedly difficult.
Yeah I've seen it and realize that it also has an extra piece of plastic on top of the head to make it sit right. So when you put the helmet back on, it may not look right. It may be better to get a 2nd cast of the head and then make them swappable.
Is the Bone White Vallejo primer or game color? Not an expert on brands and types myself. Thanks
Hi I think that's a game color Vallejo paint.
How did you ad the light saber and fire glowing effect?
I use an app LensFX. Check out my other vid for details:

The wash you used for your boba Fett figure where did you get it
It’s called Oiled Earth by Vallejo. You can get it at hobby stores or try on Amazon.
Now all he needs is a soft cape!
Yes! I just got one in the mail today actually. The final upgrade!
Great job what Brand of paint and Brushes you use 😊
Mostly Vallejo paint and any old brushes
I can get from my hobby store.
Can you put the same stuff you put on the suit on the armor
Hi I assume you mean the paint wash? Yes you can do that but not too much! You still want that green and red armour to look sharp.
@@southp2470 thank you that what I meant lol
My helmet wasn't squished. Just got my figure because I'm in India and we have some embargo on figures.
Perhaps Hasbro is improving their production process. The issue is with the blank head under the helmet which causes them to warp.
@@southp2470 Could be. Mine could be different batch.
Very nice update, and thanks for the tutorial.
The question remains, though. Should we have to do this to a €40/$45 figure, straight out of the box, just to make it look acceptable? Especially since the original 2013 release did not have as many problems and cost €25…
My sink water is realy hot so I don't have to boil the water. Also in getting mine in a week or two
How'd it go?
Lovely work, huge improvement. Unfortunately nothing can fix the bad knee placement. His leg hinges on the upper calves, not where the knee actually is. The more you bend them the worse it looks. I dont know how that got through the design process at Hasbro, nor how Lucasfilm signed off on it. It basically ruins the figure for me.
You didn't paint the hands? That was my first fix!
I personally think the differently colored hands look really ugly, but it's actually accurate. If you go back and look at high-res images of Boba Fett's costume in ROTJ, the gloves are a lighter color than the jumpsuit.
@@juansanchez209 Maybe so, but that glow in the dark green looks bad!
If I send you mine, can you upgrade it for me? I'm serious.
Yeah that shit still doesn’t look better than the Mafex version 😂😂
😅😂
