I love the new sock design, so happy to see you've decided to release it. So happy you had such a wonderful time at the retreat. All of us ladies of a certain age will know exactly what you were going through and I am glad we live in a time when we can openly discuss the shit show that is the menopause and help each other through it ❤❤

That was a great episode. I was able to enjoy throughout the day. Nancy never apologize for being real. Sometimes by showing your weakness it helps others. I myself suffer from depression and anxiety. And without medication I’m not sure I would be here. Anyway great big Hugs to you. You certainly were able to hide what you were going through but never feel like you have to. Hugs again
Don’t ever apologize for showing and sharing your feelings. We all go through things and it’s wonderful to have a supportive group like this that doesn’t judge because a lot of us have been through similar experiences! Big hugs! Please vlog in December! So glad to hear that your trip has contributed to a better feeling of wellbeing. There is nothing like the smells and tastes of childhood to make you feel better. I am very lucky that I still live in the town where I was born about 25 miles north of London. It has changed over the 78 years of my life but it is still home. The yarn that you dyed is a gorgeous colour and I think the 19 minis are a delight. Love the socks. Looking forward to the new pattern. 🇬🇧
@knitsiphappy I can understand that feeling of nostalgia. During my husband's working life we spent time in South Africa and Spain and it was the familiar things from home that I missed. 🇬🇧

I had a bit of a tear in my eyes watching your video, because I lived for about 8 years in Twyford and Bracknell (near Reading). So I can relate to the emotion around being in the UK which I will always feel connected to. I’m glad you had such a good trip x
Hi Nancy I’m a newbie I watched the travel vlog as I was at the retreat the week after you and it was lovely seeing all your footage of somewhere so familiar. I’ve been to four retreats and I haven’t used any of my full skeins but have made the minis of two of them into sweaters adding skeins bought from the shop. funny enough there was a firework display on the Saturday night. I’d made it back to my room in Ironbridge and watched it from my window . Your sock designs are lovely. Thank you for not editing out your emotions. It’s so easy for us to say we are fine when we are not. I firmly believe that travelling through difficult times can really strengthen us I’ve just subscribed so look forward to future podcasts.

Lovely to hear your travel and retreat memories. Totally get your nostalgia for UK as I'm a Brit living in California. Always a treat to go shopping in Tescos of Sainsburys, meals in pubs, fish and chips and a Chinese takeaway. I'd love to visit Ironbridge again, Shropshire is one of my favourite counties. We moved from England to Ontario when I was 10, and I know exactly how you feel about the land of our birth. To me it just fills in some spaces in my brain, and when I see videos I get homesick for something I don't really remember so well. So glad the doctor got you sorted out, and go ahead with those tears. Also, I vote you do vlogmas.

Hello Nancy. I’m so glad that you enjoyed your trip to the UK. My daughter and I went to the Woollay retreat the weekend after you did and had a great time. We also stayed at the pub and had the overhot bathroom radiator experience, although we had the family room. It was a great retreat, I’d love to go again but we travelled across from Kent by train and it was a bit of a mission. Love your podcast.

As a fifty-something-years old lady, I did experience a bit of what you went through while trying to find a new balance with those crazy hormones… 😉 So glad that you seem to be on the right path! And as a fellow Canadian living in Quebec City, I also find myself enjoying traveling the old countries, England and France, as I feel I am pretty much a mix of those two cultures that made me what I am today. I know that doing a Vlogmas must be a lot of work, but if you ever decide do embark on that endeavor this year, I will happily follow you! And you don’t need to impose to yourself to invent or create new content in fear we get bored : the charm of those Vlogmases resides in the little things that make our day to day life beautiful… Happy knitting! 🧶🙏

Hello from USA, Maryland! I watch your podcast on a constant basis, but for the life of me, I never heard that your family served their country. What jazzed me is the fact your hubby served in the Navy!!!! I also served for 20 years and retired from the USN. Please please please tell him "Thank You" for his service and I Thank You for serving right along next to him. I think I'm sensitive to the fact that women(me) have been overlooked so many times that you become desensitized to that, but not I nor will I ever be. I had fun during my time in the Navy as well as enduring certain things men rarely experienced during my tenure 1973-1994. I never stood by nor put my head in the sand, therefore; I was labeled as a "Trouble maker" and only once in one segment of my scale was kept back from the next rank as E-7 or Chief ( your husband knows the ranks, lol). So all the females that came into the Navy after me, perhaps had an easier go of it. WOW...what a rant, lol. Again, thank you for the service you put in and thanks to hubby. I WILK certainly watch out for more of your content. Now I know why you are so organized, lol!!! I also donate to the same organization that is dear to your heart , but the US's equivalent. So important and I know. I also grew up and went to school in Birmingham, England as a child. (My Dad was in the armed forces). I hope your hormones get in order soon. Good about not cutting that portion of you tearing up. Stand up for yourself instead of being a stoic mess to just do a podcast. I listened to this podcast of yours two times and so happy that I did. Menopause is no joke and it sucks. I had a sudden menopause at 30 and then the universe decided to do all the awful stuff again 20 years later. (Hormones are just cruel) I’m glad they got your medication figured out - it’s a life saver. So glad you are feeling better and had a wonderful time in England.
Sorry - I picked up the Njord Socks a day late for your donation! They’re perfect and I was looking for fingering weight. So glad you made the adjustments for us non-mathers. Thanks, Nancy!

I dyed yarn once and decided it is not my thing, but I sure appreciate the hand dyers out there! Your skein is lovely!! And I love the idea of December being dedicated to selfish knitting, however I did too much selfish knitting during the year so I am trying to power through my Christmas knits. I even reduced the number of Christmas knits to 4 with one that can be delivered post Christmas, and I have two half finished (Maxine hot water bottle cover + long standing Stocking WIP - Arne and Carlos 2023). The other two will get cast on this weekend, one is a mini stuffed chicken and the other are saltwater trigger mitts in aran weight Briggs and Little. And no worries re: moods, we all have mental health and all women have or have had hormonal shifts....keep sharing as many of us can relate to your experiences. Happy knitting.

@ Hiya Nancy - I am going to get the Christmas knitting done and on Dec 1 I am starting advent striped socks with 2 knitting friends. And the socks are for me. :) I’m so happy you’ve found the right dosage. I’m told it can take time. I’m not a candidate for the pill form of the HRT. Spinning class ended tonight. @knitsiphappy I know what you mean. They definitely didn't bring it up during Sex Ed classes in school 😬. My SIL was recently prescribed HRT and it's been a game changer. So glad it has been for you as well!
Your yucky weather is just like ours right in the middle of the USA... rain is stopping but it is gray and "wet" cold. I am so glad that your trip turned out so well... it came at JUST the right time, when you needed it the most. Take care!
We had quire a bit of snow later that day as the temperature dropped. I'm so not ready for that 🤓 The trip was just what I needed and my tears don't quite demonstrate the fact that I do feel better 😆
I love to watch vlogmas! I was not here for yours last year so it would be new to me. Not to mention it’s different advent, calendars and different yarn. However, if you don’t feel you have enough content, you could do it weekly. You could film bits each day and combine them for a weekly episode.
I really enjoyed your episode and seeing your lovely yarn. I loved hearing about the yarn retreat. I'm glad your joy is coming back....menopause is hard!
I wouldn't want you to burden yourself with vlogmas, but...if you have the creative energy to express yourself that way, I would watch every morsel. And "samey, samey" is perfection.

I've finally managed to finish watching this podcast! takes me a few attempts these days with a 5 month old but don't go making them any shorter! I'm sorry you've been up and down, the things we woman go through, I'm finding the smallest silliest things can set me off these days. But I'm very happy you are feeling better ❤ The retreat sounded awesome and how cool that you got to take a mini of everyone's colour home! I wouldn't want to make anything from them, just drool over them forever 😂

I am very lucky that I still live in the town where I was born about 25 miles north of London. It has changed over the 78 years of my life but it is still home. Hi Nancy I’m a newbie I watched the travel vlog as I was at the retreat the week after you and it was lovely seeing all your footage of somewhere so familiar. I’ve been to four retreats and I haven’t used any of my full skeins but have made the minis of two of them into sweaters adding skeins bought from the shop. funny enough there was a firework display on the Saturday night. I’d made it back to my room in Ironbridge and watched it from my window . Your sock designs are lovely. Thank you for not editing out your emotions. It’s so easy for us to say we are fine when we are not. I firmly believe that travelling through difficult times can really strengthen us I’ve just subscribed so look forward to future podcasts.

Lovely to hear your travel and retreat memories. Totally get your nostalgia for UK as I'm a Brit living in California. Always a treat to go shopping in Tescos of Sainsburys, meals in pubs, fish and chips and a Chinese takeaway. I'd love to visit Ironbridge again, Shropshire is one of my favourite counties. We moved from England to Ontario when I was 10, and I know exactly how you feel about the land of our birth. To me it just fills in some spaces in my brain, and when I see videos I get homesick for something I don't really remember so well.
So glad the doctor got you sorted out, and go ahead with those tears.

Hello Nancy. I’m so glad that you enjoyed your trip to the UK. My daughter and I went to the Woollay retreat the weekend after you did and had a great time. We also stayed at the pub and had the overhot bathroom radiator experience, although we had the family room. It was a great retreat, I’d love to go again but we travelled across from Kent by train and it was a bit of a mission. Love your podcast.

Dear Nancy, thank you for everything! For your work as a podcaster and a creator, for your authenticity, for the knitting and traveling daydreaming you inspire me every time I spend time with you. As a fifty-something-years old lady, I did experience a bit of what you went through while trying to find a new balance with those crazy hormones… 😉 So glad that you seem to be on the right path! And as a fellow Canadian living in Quebec City, I also find myself enjoying traveling the old countries, England and France, as I feel I am pretty much a mix of those two cultures that made me what I am today. I know that doing a Vlogmas must be a lot of work, but if you ever decide do embark on that endeavor this year, I will happily follow you! And you don’t need to impose to yourself to invent or create new content in fear we get bored : the charm of those Vlogmases resides in the little things that make our day to day life beautiful… Happy knitting! 🧶🙏

Hello from USA, Maryland! I watch your podcast on a constant basis, but for the life of me, I never heard that your family served their country. What jazzed me is the fact your hubby served in the Navy!!!! I also served for 20 years and retired from the USN. Please please please tell him "Thank You" for his service and I Thank You for serving right along next to him. I think I'm sensitive to the fact that women(me) have been overlooked so many times that you become desensitized to that, but not I nor will I ever be. I had fun during my time in the Navy as well as enduring certain things men rarely experienced during my tenure 1973-1994. I never stood by nor put my head in the sand, therefore; I was labeled as a "Trouble maker" and only once in one segment of my scale was kept back from the next rank as E-7 or Chief ( your husband knows the ranks, lol). So all the females that came into the Navy after me, perhaps had an easier go of it. WOW...what a rant, lol. Again, thank you for the service you put in and thanks to hubby. I WILK certainly watch out for more of your content. Now I know why you are so organized, lol!!! I also donate to the same organization that is dear to your heart , but the US's equivalent. So important and I know. I also grew up and went to school in Birmingham, England as a child. (My Dad was in the armed forces). I hope your hormones get in order soon. Good about not cutting that portion of you tearing up. Stand up for yourself instead of being a stoic mess to just do a podcast. I listened to this podcast of yours two times and so happy that I did. The sexism and misogyny that you dealt with must have been staggering!! You were a trailblazer and those women stand on your shoulders 👏👏

Menopause is no joke and it sucks. I had a sudden menopause at 30 and then the universe decided to do all the awful stuff again 20 years later. (Hormones are just cruel) I’m glad they got your medication figured out - it’s a life saver. So glad you are feeling better and had a wonderful time in England.
Oh my word Andrea! Brutal! I can't imagine doing it twice. Yes the medications seem to be balanced and doing better for me 💕

Unfortunately, I seem to be going through another tough phase, but I'm working on it. I am SO glad you were able to go on the retreat and not only enjoy all the knitting aspects, but also reliving your youth. I dyed yarn once and decided it is not my thing, but I sure appreciate the hand dyers out there! Your skein is lovely!! I have signed up for the Grocery Girls Canmore retreat as a gift to myself as I have always wanted to go on a retreat. I am so looking forward to it! I love your Felix sweater--a pattern on my list!! I hope you do another Vlogmas. I have 3 Advent sets coming--one is from Birdstreet yarn, which I have been oogling. Lastly, I can relate to you getting rid of your mice. Thank you Nancy, this is another wonderful podcast of yours. I will add my vote for vlogmas, whether you do it daily or group a few days together it is perfect for me. And I love the idea of December being dedicated to selfish knitting, however I did too much selfish knitting during the year so I am trying to power through my Christmas knits. I even reduced the number of Christmas knits to 4 with one that can be delivered post Christmas, and I have two half finished (Maxine hot water bottle cover + long standing Stocking WIP - Arne and Carlos 2023). The other two will get cast on this weekend, one is a mini stuffed chicken and the other are saltwater trigger mitts in aran weight Briggs and Little. And no worries re: moods, we all have mental health and all women have or have had hormonal shifts....keep sharing as many of us can relate to your experiences. Happy knitting.

We had quire a bit of snow later that day as the temperature dropped. I'm so not ready for that 🤓 The trip was just what I needed and my tears don't quite demonstrate the fact that I do feel better 😆
I love to watch vlogmas! I was not here for yours last year so it would be new to me. Not to mention it’s different advent, calendars and different yarn. However, if you don’t feel you have enough content, you could do it weekly. You could film bits each day and combine them for a weekly episode.
