De Bethune is like a breath of fresh air in the watch industry ! Love their designs 👍🏻👍🏻 Thx for the manufacturing tour, now my afternoon is complete !!!
Thanks for the link to this, great video. Really enjoyed the walk through, the workmanship is tremendous; the milky way dial, for instance, is beautifully done. Wishing you a very merry Christmas.
Beautiful works of art, I'll never be able to afford one but it's great to see them being made non-the-less. BTW, the center plate of the dead beat seconds (10:07) reminds me of Star Trek's logo... as a Trek fan myself, it would be awesome to own a De Bethune just for that alone.
My personal trinity of independent watchmakers includes De Bethune,MB&F and Greubel Forsey. All of them are pushing the boundaries of some or all aspects of watchmaking! And as marc always says, Viva watchmaking!
Thanks for producing this amazing content, is fantastic to be able to see this, De Bethune is one of my favorites brands or should I say better : Horological Art
respect for such dedicated skill full craftmanship, but how on earth they manage to standarise the engineering parameters of the finished parts for instance the surface roughness
I wish I had seen this 5 years ago. I always knew the watchmaking chops were top level at DB but their designs are just too far out there for me, however after seeing this I'm starting to take a more positive outlook on the brand and that's exactly what I want. They're still way too weird looking and FAR FAR FAR more expensive than I can afford but I have a lot more respect for their passion and enthusiasm than I did before seeing this.
Halo dear friend. Could you suggests a good watch with the following specifications: sapphire cristal, 200m water resistance, perpetual calendar with date, day and month, if posible yeat too. Quarts or mechanical no mater. Preferably not thicker than 11mm. Surely luminous. And of course not expensive, at least not more than 500$ if possible. For us folks who are on a budget. In the end a review of such a watch would be awesome. Thank you and take care.
There is no secret for polishing components and watch cases absolutely flat with no rounded edges. This can be done by a Lapping process much like the watches made 250 years ago. But maybe this is too expensive and time consuming these days.
How can he claim de bethune watches are not toys for guys? That is all watches are these days. Just because you are a serious brand and that it is a piece of art does not mean it can't be a toy.
@Sudhir Raghu I do think almost anything which has no use but to entertain us could be considered a toy. And for me watches are not needed to tell the time, so I see them purely as entertainment and hobby.
@Sudhir Raghu hmm, I like that way of looking at them. I do agree on it, but I think a toy can be all of these things. I think watches bring up the same feelings as a lot of other things that could be considered toys. Some consider supercars toys, because I think when you compare them to "actual toys" they have a lot of similarities.
Nice discussion and it’s true that most of these brands don’t like to be treated as « toys », but the analogy to works of art is indeed something they prefer to be referred to. All the very best

Super interessant ! Merci !
Thank you so much for this video. I was always curious how the sphere in the De Bethune moon-phase was made.
Yes, that's pretty impressive to catch. Thanks for the comment!
Ny grail watch. Absolutely amazing, beautiful and cutting edge.
They have such a low production, once you place an order how long is the waiting list?
Has become rather long (+6 months), but always depends on models naturally.
Awesome!
Wow, very interesting
Tres bon reportage
Great vid thank you
Very welcome!
respect for such dedicated skill full craftmanship, but how on earth they manage to standarise the engineering parameters of the finished parts for instance the surface roughness
Another cool interesting video, you should ask for a free sample watch, on your trips, It doesn't hurt to ask, great insight though :)
And I would be trippin all the time then!!! 😂
What were the watches they were wearing? These were not De Bethune
Indeed not (unfortunately...)
Muy hermosas piezas .
Nice rolex sub!
Everyone LOVES a Field-Trip... :)
I'm just curios, what is on Laurent's wrist?... don't seem to be a De Bethune.
anybody got to guess what watch the engineer is wearing at 4:00?
I’m in love.

Thanks for the comment and such techniques are indeed still employed.
You try and show case your watch and I get 1 min in to see a incorrectly fitted band I switch off and move on. Try again.
You're very detailed oriented ;)
"We are not in the business of making toys for boys".. then makes a tourbillon watch
😉😉😉
U Rorex google super top 👍
Star Trek watch
Wow Eiffel tower

What an ugly object. There is no artistry in making what basically is a box that looks like a pill dispenser.
Always a personal thing 😉
