In that one drill they were throwing 10 yead darts a stomach catch is better then a drop it isnt an nfl qb throwing it its a dril they wanna see the smoothness of a drill like scenario a drop waste 5 or 10 secs and isnt success all good a catch is a catch i promise. Hands catch is style points
I agree it's better to catch the ball, but I promise you a catch with the body is different from a catch with hands because body catches usually end up in drops with pads on. Hand catches are also for better athletes. They aren't throwing those balls that hard in those drills. It's not a huge deal, but it can be a little problematic for a player that doesn't have a lot of draft buzz
If you throw it towards my balls I gotta bend my knees and catch it with my stomach thats just how it goes, in real football the best interceptions used to be body catches like Eric berry used to get and take for a TD. It's not the hands catch everyone wants but is it football or WWE.??
Just bc the NFL is hella picky doesn't mean they have changed football or what a catch is bc it's 2024. You touch it you catch it its that simple nothing else really matters a catch is a catch a drop is a drop

You think when they run these "silly drills", they're looking for, say, a particular thing, maybe a small thing, as opposed to the whole drill? Hmmm....
There's always a reason for the drills. That gauntlet is only for hands though and I think they threw it in as a filler this year for CBs.
