This is from 1991 from the Hey Hey Saturday show. The guitarist is Johnny Diesel, brother-in-law of Jimmy Barnes; and a great Australian artist in his own right.
Jimmy Barnes sings a duet with the late queen of rock n roll Tina Turner called Simply The Best. Johnny Deisel has an awesome guitar solo in this song as well. I just know you’re going to love it.
Jimmy was the lead singer for Cold Chisel - they will change your life. Watch 'Bow River' in the round and it will move your life. Watch 'Wild Thing' - The Last Stand - will change your life forever .......................
Diesel is the guitarist & a solo artist in his own right so he's awesome too.. check out johnny diesel & the injectors "crying shame" and I think this video was around 1991 or 1992 on Hey Hey its Saturday which was a 2hr variety show here in Australia.. sadly the show ended in 1999..
The guitarist is another Aussie legend, Diesel. He sings brilliantly as well. You should look him up. I think the vid is mid 90s on a tv show that ran every Saturday night in Australia for probably close to 20 years. It was called Hey Hey it's Saturday and was considered essential viewing for many of us.
@@Tully_23_32 They brought it back briefly a bunch of years ago and it bombed horribly. I guess people have just moved on from that kind of entertainment. Especially the 'blackface' bit. How did that ever get to air?
ThankThank so much for listening to our suggestions. All three of these guys have had amazing careers and have worked with some of Australia's finest musicians, who are featured heavily in both of their bands. So most of the music you will see from them with feature someone stella on keys, sax, drums, guitars and even bagpipes 🤣 Guitarists feature frequently in lots of solo spots... Jimmy has worked with legendary guitarists..such as Ian Moss, Mal Eastick, Dave Amato, Deisel and Joe Bonamassa....to name a few. Farnseys lead guitarist Brett Garsed has been with him since the late 80's. Other guitarists such as Phil Buckle, Jack Jones, Ross Fraser, Wayne Nelson have also worked in Johns band on and off over the years. And Tommy Emmanuel has also worked on 2 tours and featured in several of John's albums. So plenty of guitar solos to see. Can't wait to see what you react to next. There are so many to choose from ....so my tip for John is his most famous song You're the Voice and Jimmy Wild Thing with INXS
Awesome reaction thanks so much for this. Jimmy is still touring and singing soul. His early stuff with his band Cold Chisel is also worth looking at. Suggest Bow River and When the War is Over.. Especially if you like guitar as Chisel had Ian Moss, an outstanding guitarist and vocalist. Shout out to Johnny Diesel here on guitar who is also a vocalist and does solo stuff too.
@@johnpeters4084 ok lol (sounds nit picky) obviously my meaning was the band he was in, his band. Like one says my family - the family I’m in (doesn’t mean I own or run it) Or his school, her house… etc.
For another great lot of Aussie talent, please check out, The Teskey Brothers for a bluesy-soul sound. For a warm and heartening introduction to them , 'Hold Me' LIVE at the Forum in Melbourne, Oz, is a good choice. I'm looking forward to watching your reaction.
I'm learning right along with you as far as these Aussie singers are concerned. John Farnsworth and Jimmy Barnes are both exceptional singers, great range and emotion comes out in their vocals. This video looks to be at least twenty to twenty-five years earlier than the Joe Bonamassa/Jimmy Barnes video, judging from Jimmy's looks, but I think I preferred his vocals in the more recent video. His voice has even more soul and emotion in it now, because of the years. Mr. Farnaham has one of those voices that will always sound great, no matter what, it just is.
Barnsey’s voice has definitely developed over time, he has found his soul voice in later years. But his rock voice in younger years when he was with Cold Chisel is equally amazing in my view. Glad you’re enjoying our boys!
@@Dr_KAP Thank you, and it's great to hear from a true fan. The more recent video I saw with Jimmy and Joe B. just had more true emotion, and it takes time for that to develop. But the duet/trio? with John Farnham and, as I've learned from other commenters was a certain Mr. Diesel with the guitar, was very, very good, I just prefer the new stuff. Unusual for me.
Great to see our 2 favourite son's still gaining new 'fans' even after all these years. You know when you've been to a Jimmy Barnes concert even to this day his voice can blow your sox off from a mile away. Some of the loudest concerts I have ever been to. And after a Farnham concert you float on cloud 9 and feel like you just made a new best freind for life.
@@bobschenkel7921 absolutely and in fact Jimmy himself has said his voice has gotten better with age. Also many of his earlier performances were alcohol and drug fuelled so what you see in later years is raw and sober but also shows the pain he’s been through. Chandelier for example which is Sia’s song - he filled in for her when she couldn’t make it- but the song is all about everything he went through so he struggles to keep it together emotionally during the performance
Because you like Joe Bonamassa and great guitar and you also like Jimmy Barnes hear are a few song's that they did together that you might want to check out. Lazy a cover of Deep Purple, Mustang Sally, Too much ain't enough, Going down alone. The Last two were hit's for Jimmy many years ago and these are remakes. Then you have two song's by Jimmy Barnes's Daughter Mahalia Barnes singing Riding with the Kings featuring Joe Bonamassa and Nasty Girl Ooh Yeah with the Soul Mates and Joe Bonamassa.
Pretty sure Jimmy just released a 30 year anniversary album from which this song was on. So your pretty bang on with your 30 year estimate 👍🏻. Diesel is a great musician is and singer in his own right, check out “Cryin shame” Johnny diesel and the injectors.
For Farnham there is so much and he is so versatile it's a bit hard to know what to suggest. I'll let current world events choose the song and suggest "You're the Voice" with the MSO (Melbourne Symphony Orchestra) in 1989 (ruclips.net/video/6m2m_9Uijso/видео.html). It was his breakout single as a solo artist, became an anthem in Oz and is still relevant to today. Possibly more so. Watch out for flying mic stands ...
Thanks for the awesome reaction to the best duet ever if you throw in Diesel the best trio. Diesel the guitarist is Jimmy’s brother in law, soul overload in this performance
I knew you'd love it, and you picked the right version 😎 It was released in 1991. Johnny Diesel, also an awesome singer, on guitar, Jimmy's brother-in-law, his band was Johnny Diesel and the Injectors. They're married to sisters.
All 3 are fantastic - Jimmy released a couple of covers in the last few weeks or so - they are great - 'Soothe Me' with Sam Moore (Jimmy mid 60's & Sam 86) unreal vocals still and then one with Josh Teskey (The Teskey Brothers - you should check them out - I think they are touring US at the moment - could be wrong)
Farnsey, Barnsey and Diesel awesome! So glad you did one of the live versions, the recorded version is great but Farnsey and Barnsey are always better live!
See I told you. Play and they (Aussies) will come. If your looking for another Calab with Barnsey and Farnsey, then you can’t go past “When the War is Over”. Your up to number 3 of Aussie talent with Diesel (Don’t need to explain him as enough has already been stated below). Ready for number 4? Jimmy was the front man to Cold Chisel but … he wasn’t the only vocalist. Introducing Ian Moss (Mossey) guitarist and Jimmy Barnes singing Bow River ruclips.net/video/TdVRNDnTKTU/видео.html Mossey is a guitarist (up there with Joe), singer, songwriter, soloist. You won’t be disappointed. Enj😀y
To get a real grasp of Jimmy Barnes full range i would listen to him sing LIVE (always has to be Live with these guys) with his old band "Cold Chisel: When The War Is Over. LIVE" to get a good look at him hitting his powerful high notes. Co-Singer Ian Moss also has a brilliant voice and when they sing together, it is magic. Then listen to him sing with another Aussie Legend named Marcia Hines and an old song called "Fire And Rain" to get to hear him croon those really low and gentle notes. That will give you a real idea of his Full Range. As for Diesel on the guitar, he is yet another rabbit hole to fall down into that is seemingly endless with countless hit after hit.
Thanks for the suggestions. It seems most people are requesting When the War is Over so that’s coming soon. The others are on my lust as well. Thanks again
Cheers for the shout out! As Michele said the guitarist is Mark Lizotte “Diesel” Jimmy’s son in law, he’s an amazing musician and rips on the guitar.. Diesel was the frontman for a band “Johnny Unleaded and the spark plugs” …😂 jokes! “Johnny Diesel and the injectors” then went on to a very successful solo career, his new stuff is awesome and definitely worth checking out..
