John has been around since 1967 at the age of 17/18 he will be turning 73 this year he is a living legend here in Australia and is know as The Voice because he is the greatest sing on the planet too many of us..There is so much of Johns music on here including his concerts as when he’d go on tour with a new album they would televised them as his concerts would always be sold out.. The thing you need to remember about this performance is that it came at the end of a 2hr concert. John is Aussie royalty - we love him to bits. Even now into his 70s he has this voice. John has been around for a long time. since 1967 when he sang SADIE THE CLEANING LADY on TV to be exact. That's on YT. He also has done some wonderful arrangements with Olivia Newton John. They both did a song called DARE TO DREAM at the opening ceremony of the 2000 Sydney Olympics - again on YT. Also a concert with Australia's phantom from PHANTOM OF THE OPERA (Andrew Warlow) and ONJ together called THE MAIN EVENT (again on YT). John was the King of Pop in his earlier days and is now in his 70's. He and ONJ had a similar history, both being born in England and coming to Australia in the 50's and settling in Melbourne, Victoria and getting their start on Melbourne TV. He's known here as THE VOICE and if you get to see any of his other work you will know why.

John was teaching himself to play this song on piano and was playing it slowly, just to get used to the chords, and decided he preferred the song at the slower tempo. When John Lennon heard it, he said that it was the tempo that the Beatles wanted to record it at. It was only the record company that wanted it sped up. (Personal, I read George Martin, their producer at the time, for record company.)

Agree I think When the War is Over and Bow River are great Cold Chisel songs to start with.. but I’m thinking that the official videos of Working class man and Driving wheels are best?? - as much as I love Jimmy live there aren’t any decent live performances on RUclips I’ve found of these two specific songs.
You can't go wrong with John or Jimmy (I grew up with them) and I am sure you will get so so many suggestions - so I will throw another singer at you - you cannot miss - The Teskey Brothers - and try 'Hold Me' live at Live at the Forum (if you like crowd participation it's awesome) these guys are young and current but unique as well (even though John and Jimmy are still performing)

1) he’s the nicest most down to earth genuine guy you’ll ever meet
2) he has a 3 octave vocal range on par with Freddy Mercury and Robert Plant
3) he can sing any genre- he could stand on his head and still be in key
4) unlike most artists, his voice is as good if not better live than any studio version

Agree I think When the War is Over and Bow River are great Cold Chisel songs to start with.. but I’m thinking that the official videos of Working class man and Driving wheels are best?? - as much as I love Jimmy live there aren’t any decent live performances on RUclips I’ve found of these two specific songs.
Have a look at an Aussie band called 'Taxi Ride" You'll love em'.
You can't go wrong with John or Jimmy (I grew up with them) and I am sure you will get so so many suggestions - so I will throw another singer at you - you cannot miss - The Teskey Brothers - and try 'Hold Me' live at Live at the Forum (if you like crowd participation it's awesome) these guys are young and current but unique as well (even though John and Jimmy are still performing)
Just live this ballad. Words clear. The Beatles didn't do it justice as sang too fast and the beat was enticing. They were mature beyond their years writing these lyrics. John's song now.❤

It is often said, he could sing his shopping list and it would sound great. There is one rule - for the full Farnham experience it has to be a live performance, not the official studio clip. He covers all genres - Rock, pop, ballad, rock opera, opera, jazz, even gospel. That was his breakout single and this is my favourite performance of it. It became an anthem here in Oz. And the lyrics are so pertinent to today.
