Kevin I own my grandmothers 1971 (year I was born) Olds Cutlass 442 driven only 65K until 1981 when she bought a Cadillac of which my brother has that. This 442 is in pretty good shape considering we live near Rockford IL and being a Midwester you know how the roads are here
I thought $7k seemed like a bit much for this one, but honestly it was worth a bit extra just to get to work on it in a dry garage and pressure wash it off in a car port lol. Not having to roll around in mud, gravel, or 4 feet high grass is nice and you’d spend a lot of coins at the car wash and get a worse job done without the pressure washer so that was very helpful too. I don’t really know anything about these particular cars but I really like the look they have, they’re unique
In the late 80s I picked up a 1971 Olds. Cutlass S that was white with black interior, black vinyl top, needing lots of love and attention. The car just gets under your skin, and knuckles at times, but loved being back on the roads. After rebuilding the engine the Cutlass knew he was back in the game, embarrassing Z-28 drivers, and staying on the bumper of Mustang GTs of the day. The faster, and more cleaned up he became the more weirder other drivers were around him. The car got hit 3 times by other drivers, the last taking him completely off the road again. I miss that car even today. What I got for $500 kept me mobile for 6+ years and was decent to me. Enjoy the car guys.
Heck, I work at a tire shop and love it when I change shredded, ancient tires because I know it’s going towards somebody’s prospect that’s about to start rollin! Love you guys, still subbed! Coming from Northern Arizona
After not taking care of his first 2 cars and them not lasting long, something clicked with my brother when he bought a mint 1972 Cutlass supreme. The car had just over 100 thousand miles when he got it. He kept that car for 2 decades and had over 300 thousand miles on it without rebuilding the transmission or engine. Still looked and ran mint as well. One of the many memories of my brother.

Hey I had one of these in the late 80s! Gold '72 Cutlass. Loved that car! Didn't have the louvers or vinyl, and the back end looked a little different. Someone did tell me once it had a '73 trunk and bumper. It has the 350 Rocket and there was enough room in the engine bay for you, me, a six pack and a pizza to work on it. The gold didn't look quite like this, but it had been a street parked New Bedford car so sun and salt air, and salted streets in the winter. I really loved that car.
Congratulations Kevin and Mook on your engagement. Wishing you all the very best for the future and many fun exciting memories. Great work and cheers for taking us along take care

The wife and I enjoyed this build. She also loved your t shirt about happiness is one woman and many cars. She found one like it for me. Funny, I like it too.
I had the sedan version of this as the first car I bought for myself. It was 1993 and the car was owned by my the elderly neighbor lady. It still had polyester tires on it but it was otherwise absolutely flawless, inside and out. You could comfortably seat six with the bench seats. Those bench seats were a pretty comfortable place to sleep too. I drove that car quite a lot over the next year or so and ended up selling it for almost nothing because I was young and clueless. The engine was absolutely ridiculous. I think it was a 455 big block Rocket. It was so easy to wrench on. Effortless burnouts. I tried to find the top end a few times on the highway but basically chickened out because I was going well over 100 in a pretty old car with 4 wheel drum brakes that liked to overheat. Good times.
Congrats on getting engaged!! This olds looks pretty nice for the age! And nice you and mook came prepared! So cool what you are doing with the new merch!!

I've been watching you and Mook having various adventures since you were little more than kids - especially to me, since I'm old. LOL I'm so happy to learn of your engagement, and wish you both a long happy life together, filled with critters and cars.
Love my 72 Cutlass, which looks gold, but it's Bamboo Yellow. My grandfather bought the car new, and I got it when he passed in 2000. Now its full Hotchkis suspension, Wilwood brakes. Oh, and a 500hp 3.8 turbo V6 from a Buick Grand National in it. 😁
It all started a decade ago with 2 dudes from a car magazine driving a junk cheap pontiac catalina on a road trip on youtube. Years forward we have beautiful channels like yours showing the real car stuff, real mechanics work and fun with all junk, while the original crew still does its stuff, now its paid "official stuff", its not for us anymore. And you got even better than the original, because its so authentic and tbh the youth spirit makes a lot. Love your work, keep it up. BTW im an european guy who never saw a car like this in real life, I only had one "classic car" but it was a 1971 Fiat, still this brings memories of playing with the cars which I miss and dont miss on modern cars at the same time.
I had a 70 Supreme convertible, loved it. It handled well but was a nice soft ride. I had front discs, I recommend it. I think this was considered kind of the "gentleman's muscle car" it had more creature comforts than the comparable Chevrolets and Pontiacs. That Rochester 2-barrel was a great carb, the secondary is pretty big and you can tell when it opens up. You didn't overpay for that car, the price is pretty fair for you actually. If your dad is willing, he can repair the roof panels and I'd put another vinyl top on it so you don't have to do a perfect finish on the metal. It's going to stay dry from now on anyway. Congratulations on your business and channel and life, you've worked hard for it!
Congrats on your engagement, many wishes to you. Finding that special one God created just for you is pure bliss. In 1978 we bought a 1974 Cutlass, pumpkin color with a 260 v-8 automatic hardtop. Basic model, we referred to it as the old gutless. Head gasket failed in 1988, tore it down in the garage and fixed it ran when we got rid of it 10 years later in 1998. We drove that car for about 150,000 miles, loved it.
Congratulations to you both on your engagement. Mook you will have to get Kevin to give you the Cutlass as part of your engagement or wedding gift, looking forward to seeing part 2, keep up the great work.
Dude! 2 of my favorite people on all of RUclips do a revival not 20 miles from my house and I don't even get to meet them! It's cool that it's a revival of a car that's been in East Texas it's whole life
I can give you a heads up on that Rocket 350. Replace the timing chain and that engine will run great well over 300,000 miles. I had a '72 Cutlass S I recently sold that had never been rebuilt-311,000 miles on it and it ran perfect. Purred. Same color as well.
For whatever it's worth, my very first car was a 72 Cutlass Supreme in the exact same color. At dusk time it changes color & has the neatest look. It's like gold, brown & bronze at the same time !
My mother had a 1972 Cutlas Supreme and this "will it run" reminds me of the good old days. I was a child but still remember that car. Thanks for bringing this old car back to life and congrats on your engagement Kevin and Mook! 😅🤣😂😁
1972 was a fantastic year for music! We had smash hits by the O'Jays with "Backstabbers" and "Love Train"; Johnny Nash's "I can see Clearly Now", Elvis was at Madison Square Garden; The Raiders were still riding their success with their multi-platinum hit "Indian Reservation" and had some follow up hits with "Powder-Blue Mercedes Queen" and "Country Wine". CBS and RCA had their Quadraphonic systems going in full swing and yes, 8-tracks were still very much "the In thing".

It warms my heart to see a vintage Oldsmobile being brought back to life. The gold color of this 1972 Oldsmobile Cutlass made me think of the 1969 Oldsmobile Vista Cruiser from "That '70s Show." I honestly hope that the Vista Cruiser has just as much of a prominence in the sequel "That '90s Show."

I remembered that era. I owned a cutlass supreme. It had a 4-barrel carb, bucket seats, floor shift/console. I love your awesome find, my friend! Now I’m really jealous 😮😅.
Great job guys! I would recommend to fix the rust spots, sand the body with high grit papers to be topped with a nice clear cost to restore the patina! I do the same on my 1969 442!
Congratulations on the Engagement you two are my favorite RUclipsrs without a doubt. The interior of this car for sitting 23 years was incredible and the nicest I have seen of any car sitting that long I always enjoy Mook's random corkiness in the videos you never know what she is going to say and I admire that In my opinion Mook should definitely have the car so you can both have one. I am looking forward to next week's video

Nice to the old girl back on the road. Well done on getting it running. What a lovely car. They don't make them like that anymore. Good luck with the rest of it. Paddy from Belfast Ireland.

I started University in 1972. That Cutlass has aged a whole lot better than I have. Great project to revive a really good looking car. Its got style and class without being garish. Looking forward to the next episode in the project.
Wow! Congratulations, you two! I hope you're as happy as Linda and I are. And that Cutlass? I grew up in Texas. I learned to drive in my mom's '65 Dynamic 88. My first car was a '68 Cutlass. My second car was a '72 Delta 88 Royale. And the list goes on, I've had a bunch of Oldsmobiles, and they were all great cars. If Linda, the Finance Minister, would say yes, I'd offer you a tidy profit on that Cutlass. Maybe in a couple of years I'll find a deal like that somewhere. Thanks for all the fun you bring to us with each video. All the best to you two, may you have a joyful and successful life together.
Congratulations my friends on the engagement. It was about time to invest in the hose clamp industry and finally making an honest woman out of Mook, Heck yeah!
Big 👍👍 for your second gold Cutlass revival. Congrats on the engagement 💖. And, yeah, add a little 2-stroke to the gas, and maybe that special oil with all the dinosaurs with some stabilizer added will bring those stuck rings and clanky valves RIGHT around. Great video!
That's a great find and in good shape.....I found my 1986 cutlass a few years back and was parked because of a radiator leak....picked it up for 1500 and has 36k original miles

Congrats on y'alls engagement ❤️ As to the paint on the Cutlass. Buick had a similar color known as "Antique Gold." I had a '72 LeSabre in that color and it had similar fading and hue changes from panel to panel due to how the sun hit it where it was stored.

Omg you don’t know how lucky you are to find one in beautiful condition. When it’s polished it’s going to be so amazing. I’m so jealous.
Congratulations to you Kevin & Mook on your Engagement may all your days be cruising down the highways in life ❤️❤️
Many congratulations on your engagement, and wish you both health and happiness in the future 👍 Another fantastic car brought back to life (ever thought of getting some of the RUclips detailer to have a go at professionally detailing the car? WD detailing/Ammo)? 😁🇬🇧
Love the content bro keep up the good work ❤
Congratulations on the Engagement you two are my favorite RUclipsrs without a doubt.
The interior of this car for sitting 23 years was incredible and the nicest I have seen of any car sitting that long
I always enjoy Mook's random corkiness in the videos you never know what she is going to say and I admire that
In my opinion Mook should definitely have the car so you can both have one.
I am looking forward to next week's video
Congratulations on your engagement, you guys rock, I look forward to your videos all the time, take care and be safe
Bro, I'm watching this from South Africa, and I must say I love your videos dude. Love seeing you revive these old beauties, and putting them back on the road. Side note, Mook is so funny! Thanks for keeping me entertained and teaching me more and more every video. Keep doing what you doing man. We appreciate it! Gonna try and order one of your sweatshirts/hoodies, and send it over here with some friends or family that is gonna come o er from the states!
Nice to the old girl back on the road. Well done on getting it running. What a lovely car. They don't make them like that anymore. Good luck with the rest of it. Paddy from Belfast Ireland.
great cars. this really deserves to be back on the road.
I hope you plan on keeping this, restore it. It would be really cool if you and your dad where at a car show/parade driving together.
God you guys keep pumping out the best content and it keeps getting better and better and I like that you guys don’t try and self censor and still have a good sense of humor. You gotta have a sensor of humor to work on old cars.
I whole heartedly agree that a good sense of humour is vital for fingering old vehicles and coping with all the crap life throws at you.
My favorite Oldsmobile! Congratulations on your engagement you two!! I wish for you a long happy life together!!! Kevin you are a lucky man. Mook is an amazing young lady who shares your passion for cars and trucks!!
Seeing that thing washed was so satisfying... you guys did well with this one, even for 7k.... Congrats!
Another great episode guys! Love those oldsmobile cutlasses, wish I could afford to restore one. It'd be a great weekend cruiser!
Congrats guys! The restoration was great too!
Congratulations on such a great find! I'm looking forward to seeing how she turns out through all your expertise. Keep up the great work Kevin and Mook 👍✌️🇺🇲
That is the king of all barn finds, that door closing is money! 🤤🤤🤤🤤🤤
I am watching your channel for the first time. Awesome work!
It's really cool how you leave in inevitable mistakes. Along with all the tips and tricks, you also show lessons learned, which is way more valuable than almost every other DYI I've seen! Thank you!
Congratulations Kevin and Mook on your engagement Wishing you both happiness love and a long life love the channel
Congratulations on your engagement, you truly deserve each other and a great life together. She's beautiful, so's the car.
I started University in 1972. That Cutlass has aged a whole lot better than I have. Great project to revive a really good looking car. Its got style and class without being garish. Looking forward to the next episode in the project.
Totally support your decision to support local businesses! Congrats on your engagement!
Hell ya I'm from texas. Love the cutlasses
Congratulations my friends on the engagement. It was about time to invest in the hose clamp industry and finally making an honest woman out of Mook, Heck yeah!
Congratulations on the engagement Kevin and Mook!
I agree with you 💯 . I usually add some seafoam to the oil , it really works on the lifters and frees up the rings .
That's a great find and in good shape.....I found my 1986 cutlass a few years back and was parked because of a radiator leak....picked it up for 1500 and has 36k original miles
I first started watching you two with the storage box cutlass and since then i've just fallen in love with what you guys do its just amazing thank you for all of this
The perfect RUclips duo just became even better. Y'all are one of the only channels I watch. Any woman that will put your tires on, help you put a tank in, and drive 12 hours for you to revive a car is perfect. We all need a friend like mook.
I wasn't real sure about that color at first, but now that it's cleaned up a little, I'm really starting to like it!!
I must be watching these out of order because I didn’t see anything about an engagement! But apparently U2 got engaged and I’m so happy for you! MamaCard in Florida sending you some love.
Congrats on the engagement, you two are so fun to watch together. Glad I found your channels with all the knowledge about vehicles I get. You guys make it fun.
im so proud of you guys you actually did prep this time i guess all the money you saved while on vacay you had leftover .... nice of you to return
Congrats on y'alls engagement ❤️
As to the paint on the Cutlass. Buick had a similar color known as "Antique Gold." I had a '72 LeSabre in that color and it had similar fading and hue changes from panel to panel due to how the sun hit it where it was stored.
Big Olds fan and that color … man that’s purty. Congrats on the engagement 🎊🍻🍸
Only junkyard digs has the classic car action I crave, with the burpy and farty humor that always gets me! Keep being ZACHTASTIC!
That is a sick barn find cutlass!! Congratulations on the engagement!! Keep up the content!!! LOVE IT!!!
