If you'd like to know more about ADDING SMOKE TO FOOD take a look at the videos I have in my FOOD SMOKING PLAYLIST ruclips.net/p/PLFG0csw8wik3i34DOOd9fhzP4_i0x6w8d
It took me a while to figure out how to get the best from this piece of equipment. I have to remark that I came close to throwing it in the bin. Now I will use it with confidence and by accidentally coming to the same method of use shown in this video have cold smoked salmon, cheese and now bacon. One suggestion I would make is to measure out the dust before hand and then microwaving the dust on a microwaveable plate for about 1 1/2 minutes then resting it for a short while, then microwave it again. Transfer it to the frame and ignite with a chefs blowtorch. Has worked every time.
thanks David, this tine of year (Jan) lighting and maintaining a burn can be problematic at times. this method overcome some of those issues. nice comment thanks.
Definitely one of the best things I've ever purchased it. Once I saw you using a brulee torch I never touched another tea light! I'm going to attempt to recreate the generator and box in smaller scale for camping at some stage.
Top tip. When they get bunged up with crud after some uses. Get a brazing torch or kitchen blow torch and quickly scan across the mesh with it to burn out the burnt in residue. Just don't dwell in any place too long and it works a treat, like new when done and much less messy than oven cleaner.
essentially it can be used in any container you want to use as a cold smoker. You can use it for this purpose in your existing grill or smoker providing it has a lid.
Hi 👋 I have a question. Is the Prague powder that comes with a flyer for the channel supplied directly by you guys? No issues or anything lol I've just got some and thought I would show some love lol
Yes, it is. I've been supplying it for the last ten years. I think you'll like it. coldsmoking.co.uk/collections/curing-salts-amp-ingredients/products/prague-powder-1-200g coldsmoking.co.uk/collections/curing-salts-amp-ingredients/products/prague-powder-2-200g
Tried a couple of similar devices and could never make it burn longer than 2 minutes. Tried, pellets, sawdust and dust. All very dry. I'd give them 0 on a scale of 1 to 5. Waste of money.
im always genuinely interested to hear when someone has had an issue with a piece of kit. I hasten to add im not sponsored by ProQ when i say similar devices aren’t the same quality as this one. its like comparing apples with lemons!. There’s also a wide variation in wood dust quality and combustibility.. Beech and oak for example burn well whereas sweet chestnut has a tendency to self extinguish. unless its blended with other wood dust. This variation also extends to particle size too so its perhaps a little more nuanced than one would think at first glance. thanks for your comment though 👍 and happy smoking.

Great to hear it. I have a video coming out in a few days with a portable cardboard smoker which should just about fit your bill..
@@Coldsmoking I've got the stuff together for mine...hopefully. We'll have to look at each others :)
I’m now addicted to your videos.
Sorry but there’s no cure 😂
@@Coldsmoking 😂. Like what you did there 👍🏼

Personally i find oven cleaner does the job overall with less damage to the mesh.
Great detailed explanation, thanks ,how will that work if used in a regular grill or smoker?
essentially it can be used in any container you want to use as a cold smoker. You can use it for this purpose in your existing grill or smoker providing it has a lid.
Is it better the round generator or square? Or no difference?
I’ve not used the round one. its a derivation of the square one so I’m guessing it would work in a similar way.

Genius about the screw on the tealight. I always struggle with getting it out. Thank you
@@juliejudson1875 You're welcome Julie. They say necessity is the mother of invention. If ever there was a better example eh?
