I had the privilege of seeing her live in performance. From the first song, she just zoned in on our group (it probably helped that we were diverse in gender, race, age and sexual identity) and even pulled in one of our friends to sing back up on On the Radio. My mom used to play her records on weekends when I was a child and I was so thankful I got to pay her back by taking her to see the show with me. It was just one of those special moments and for Donna to recognize us just made it an unforgettable priceless moment in my life. She passed way too young. She is for me the only DIVA that ever really mattered.
