this is the best video on RUclips for wizard 220 owners, you kept it very simple , I just wish I had found it sooner , would of saved me 6 hours of stress, watching other videos on this , telling me to flash the firmware , stick paper clip into f3 board to boot , nightmare glad I didn't go down that route which Joshua bardwell tells you to do setting up your 220, i was really stressed and depressed after watching his setup 220 video, thanks again going to fly it now with the same mode setup that you have. cheers Ingee.
Hello I'm from Brazil and I'm in sports a little while I would like to thank you very much for your video, I was about two weeks trying to set up my first drone x220 wizard identical to this one. Now everything is working and flying perfectly thanks to your tips 'Congratulations for the excellent work with the community of drones
Awesome!! Thank you, great video. The only suggestion I was going to make was about IBUS and you answered that below. Thanks for putting all that in one video. Especially the part about the sub trim. It took me a while to figure that out. Great beginner video, with a well known beginner quad. Now I need a cable to fly the sims and practice.
No problem hope it helps. Also I ordered mine about a month around Jan 3-4th, and it said "expected restock 01/27/2017", I got a tracking number saying it shipped on the 15 and had it in hand by the 22nd. So about 2 1/2-3 weeks from time I ordered till I got it.
Updated the firm to 3.1.7. Have the original Flysky but played with the gimbals of a TaranisQx7. So I bought one. Didn't get to connect the Taranis to it yet (bad SD slot in the Taranis) so I need to reconfigure the i6. Gosh, I tell ya, you fly with a i6 for a few months than try a Taranis. WOW, I love my Taranis. Sad I'm going to be without her for a week or so. Velocidrone and DRL times actually decreased with my Taranis. Anyways! I see you set your gyro to 4kHz. Which it does increase CPU load, however, tick off Race Transponder and tick on Airmode. Drops the CPU load from 20ish down to 11ish. I also recommend setting a higher TPS for keeping away from prop wash and keeping it steady on full boar turns. PID tunings with link to Josh's videos regarding PID tunings. github.com/betaflight/betaflight/wiki/PID-Tuning-Guide Sims I play: www.velocidrone.com/ (Made my TBS) Increased my ability and strengths and has PID tunings just like Betaflight! Good way to test it out before tapping into your quads settings. thedroneracingleague.com/simulator/ (DRL. A must but you won't really learn about PID tuning and such through DRL. I heard the actual release June 20 2017, will have a lot more and will be free also)
I believe that the min and max set to 1000 to 2000 is only on the throttle channel. and this is if you are using a spektrum receiver and transmitter because you cannot arm unless the values are 1000 and 2000.
I just received an RTF wizard from Banggood. My first attempt at flying it was not pretty. I took the props off and ran it again to see what was happening. The throttle will turn on the motors but then goes from no speed to full speed without any ramp up in between. The right stick does seem to vary speeds on the right and left sides, or front and rear sides. I could hear changes but can't tell their level of accuracy from just listening. Since it is providing some control I assume transmitter and drone are bound but you know how that goes. I have not programmed a transmitter or used a computer program but am willing to try. Just not sure where to start poking around. I admit that I am probably your worst nightmare, a 70 year old newbie :-) Thanks, Richard
Do not worry :) It is Normally!! Read!! Why do my motors keep accelerating on the bench when I arm without props ? With props off on the bench, I arm the quad and the motors start. After increasing throttle a small amount then back to minimum I notice the motors keep increasing in speed. They don't go to max or anything, but they climb noticeably. Now if I was in Angle/Horizon with the accelerometer enabled I could understand that the quad was tying to level itself. But in Acro mode why should the throttle change on its own ? I'm guessing this is an Airmode effect. But just wanted to understand a little more about why. Answer: That is the flight controller trying to correct for changes in aspect, mainly due to fact your quad shakes slightly when the motors spin, the sensors pick it up and then the flight controller tries to correct, it can't because you don't have props on. All perfectly normal. i very reccomend read this manual! github.com/betaflight/betaflight/wiki/Frequently-Asked-Questions
Liked the video man used it to set up my eachine wizard. I have a serious problem with my wizard when I arm it with the props off I go to give it a little throttle and it will just slowly start reving up the only way to slow down the motors is by dropping the throttle stick all the way down. I have no clue what is wrong with it.
Nicholas DeLillo did you calibrate the acceleramator on a level surface? If you haven't and have it in angle or horizon mode that is the accelerometer trying to level it but it keeps revving because the changes aren't having any effect because there are no props so it keeps giving more power trying to level the quad
Nickolas any chance you are running betaflight 3.1.7? Interestingly enough I just upgraded to 3.1.7 last night did a test flight and while hovering it just randomly throttled up into a tree, lucky I was able to hit the failsafe. I am going to downgrade to 3.1.6 or 3.1.5 which is what I was running before the upgrade and see if same issue still happens. You might try the same and see if that helps, can then report a bug to betaflight if so.
Hey i just got my eachine... I had the same issue. that is normal just take off and it will be gone.. also if that is happening in the mode that you are currently in try changing the mode. I had the same issue.
ooh man you do it easiest. I burned up my firts receiver which came with the quad, I was triying to binding it with a 7.4 v battery :-( and now I see your video and realized that you can do it with the quad itself. thanks!
its correct that when the reciever tab in betaflight doesnt show any response that you cant stick with the firmware thats comes stock on the quad so update betaflight configurator to the latest version.. then make a jumper with paperclip and go boot mode and flash the latest firmware . then put the jumper that came with the in the box into the reciever and rebind your quad to the transmitter. check on the transmitter if the ppm output is off . if it is turn it on again then reconnect the quad to beta flight again it there should be response now and and setting the failsafes should all work fine now!!!! 1 more tip : DO NOT download the betaflight configurator from the chrome web store or betaflight will NOT work properly with the firmware on the quad so download via google off the main website most people that encounter this problem is the ignorance to try with the stock firmware and not be willing to flash like myself "xD
My transmitter is bind to the receiver but when I plug in the battery for the quad while it's connected to Betaflight, Betaflight can't read the inputs as if the transmitter and receiver is not bind
If your using Flysky transmitter defaults make sure the channel mapping on the betaflight receiver screen is set to AETR1234. Are you using iBus or PPM?
I have a FS-iA6. I plug it into channel 1 and I just can't get it to start when i flick switch A. I don't know what to do, do you know what else I can try? Thank you
Did you make sure to setup your transmitter to actually transmit the aux switch? You have to do that as well as make sure the channel mapping in betaflight under the configuration tab matches the transmitter mapping.. The default for Flysky is AETR1234. Make sure you did what I did at 4:36 in this video for the aux setup.
Thanks for taking time out to do this.im haveing a problem getting the receiver to receive the work everything is at the right point just not throttle is way down at 855 can you tell what I'm doing wrong
In betaflight on the receiver screen can you see the throttle and other inputs moving the bars? Remember you have to have a battery plugged in to get the receiver to show up, usb alone won't power it. If it is and your low number on the throttle is still 855 (seems really low), you will need to adjust the endpoints for the throttle channel, which is channel 3 (1 = roll, 2 = pitch, 3 = throttle, 4 = yaw). Just move your sticks in the direction you want to adjust and as you hit the up/down buttons on the controller you will see the numbers in betaflight change, just keep adjusting until your min/max are as close to 1000/2000 as possible. It might not be perfect.. Might be like 998 and 2001
What is the difference between beta flight and clean flight I seen another guy set up his wizard using clean flight but I thought it came with beta flight out of the box I just ordered the ready to fly model I guess it is the newer updated version of the Eachein wizard x220 not the s the First one but updated with a new flight controller and a new motors what will it come with whit beta flight
iv got the same flysky i6 transmitter, receiver and betaflight 3.1. I bind the i6 to the receiver and I followed all of your instructions but the quad isn't responding to the transmitter. my i6 works perfectly fine on my tiny whoop and eachine aurora. all so where the battery symbol is at the top of betaflight mine says 0
SithSlayer88 my did the same thing I ordered mine and it took a week to get just got it flying mine still has beta 3.0 but with this setup I had to turn on ppm on th controller setting broke 14 props with only one flight mode now it seems to fly
hi guys i do all in the video and commentary but i can't start my wizard !!ppm is on on the recever ,mayby i dont disarm it it s my first wizard ...... any idea ?? sorry for my inglish
Hi Jason, first of all thanks for this helpful video. i have a few Questions thought and hope you can help me out. 1. Is there a way to ADD more auxiliary channel in order to activate my buzzer which planning to install to channel SWB ? 2. IN the reciever tab in betaflight the way i regulated the roll , pitch, throttle yaw was by using my SUB TRIB ON MY FLY SKY REMOTE CONTROL TO PUT THE VALUES TO 1500. i dont know if thats a NO-NO ???? thanks againfor your great video my friend
Carlos thanks! 1. You would have to add more channels to the controller, this is possible to get to 10 channels via a firmware upgrade. Check this video out : ruclips.net/video/eaj0M218HSM/видео.html 2. I don't think it matters as long as when you look at the receiver tab in betaflight the values are really close to 1000/2000 on the top and bottom and when centered at 1500. You just want to make sure the flight controller is getting those values as input, so however you achieve that is ok.
hi I have problem controller connects to wizard but if I puss throttle motors won't even work but in betaflights show throttle in reciver menu throttle works.Does anyone know what to do
Really helpful video! Great job! Btw do you have some video how to setup and conect betaflight on Mac with all drivers what needed etc... ? On Windows I did it but after 2 nights without sleeping :))) almost smash my wife laptop ! I have Mac now and I can't find videos about that !
Hi the first good complete video made thank you i have set up my system this way but still my quad will not pick up my transmitter in cleanflight it is the eachine i6 transmitter and falcon 250 pro f3 it also will not arm was working until i connected it up. Do you have any idea why.
hilton lee I have the same problem and I believe it is because the eachine version doesn't have the latest firmware to run ppm or Ibus Fortunately, if you have the cable to plug the tx into your pc, there is downloadable firmware that will update the tx so that you can run ppm and should communicate with the FC at that point.
Try and enable Rx on the Uart 3. If you have THE rtf with Flysky fs-i6 . Plug receiver cable into the rear port on the flight controller, then on the top right port on the receiver with the black facing up, metal tabs down. This is ibus setup. Make sure you setup the arm switch and modes. It's best to watch videos from same person and use ibus as the first option of connection then sbus second and ppm as a last alternative.
if the motors keep spinning while connected to betaflight you should setup the ARM switch in the modes tab and the motors will stop and you can spin them mannually
Hey I followed the binding process and it worked with the same setup your using but could not get it to show anything on the configuration like I hit throttle no response arm no response it's not showing anything! Do you have any ideas what this could be?
Did you make sure you power up the quad? Typically you have to plug a battery in, also make sure your configuration mapping is set correctly to AETR1234 or TAER1234 whatever transmitter mapping your using
Yes the quad was powered up everything was set up exactly how you had it and how I had it originally it still didn't work I even tried The guy Jason's page you recommended still nothing I'm thinking maybe flight controller has a bad port or the receiver is broken anything you could tell me will be much appreciated
so after my other f4 flightboard went out i have to throw the sp racing board on alien but now after selecting uart1 with msp on and other not on and configuration the receiver ill use instead tarantis is flysky fs-i6 and its ppm-rx input and then receiver it wont show any response nothing moves... i see on radio its linked or binded there but nothing works on receiver in betaflight what could be issue
correct... if your using flysky then aetr1234 is correct.. probably a dumb question but did you make sure to plug a battery in to the quad first? Alot of receivers won't power off USB for the receiver.
yeh i take lipo hookup to flight controller while usb hooked up to beta and then turn my radio on.. same thing as tarantis and x4r-sb rx but it just glitches and all over place so idk what is wrong
The problem I'm having is I can't get past the BetaFlight startup screen. I press connect when my drone is connected to the computer but it never works. I'm on V1.9.1. What am I doing wrong!? PLEASE HELP!!!
Are you on a mac or windows computer? Directly to the left of the connect button is the port your quad is on, mine sometimes defaults to /dev/cu.Bluetooth-Incoming-Port. Please verify this is on /dev/cu.wchusbserial1420 or something that contains usbserial, change to that and try to connect. On windows it might be COM you might have to try each one till you find one it will connect on.
It doesn't show anything with usbserial, does it have to do with the drivers, because I can't download the second driver due to the fact that I'm on mac?
When you plug in the USB cable does some of the lights on the FC come on? That will just verify your infact getting power to the FC. Also the one driver for the mac should be fine. Probably a dumb question but did you reboot the computer after installing the driver? Also I have heard a few people say they had issues with some cables, you might grab another micro usb cable and try that. I didn't have that problem. In fact I am not even sure you have to install the driver if your running Sierra.
when I start to adjust rates and expo I just copy mr steel pids on my wizard after one week I incrase expo and I leave it for longer time but now I tryed to change it by my self becose I understand more what I want now :) but funy part is that I have there absolutly same values :D + my expo 30 and 20 for yaw(no throtle expo) btw you have my subscribe Jason Graham :)
On my Wizard i had to put my "Integral" on "0" otherwise my Quad motors were keep spinning up even at minimum throttle on the stick... :/ I don't know if that's normal or not. Joshua Bardwell couldn't help me out, in fact he laught at me like "Oh go flight and that's it."
Couple of questions. 1) Are you running DSHOT, multishot, or what? 2) Are the rest of your PID's default? 3) Are you in airmode, angle, or horizon mode? 4) When you say spinning up, do they get faster and faster or just turn on and spin? Typically in airmode when arming you want the motors to spin. 5) What receiver and transmitter are you using? Did you make sure to adjust endpoints and subtrim in the controller to be approx 1000-2000 with 1500 midpoint?
Jason Graham So; 1) OneShot 2) Rest of PID's default 3) Basicly the motors (even on air mode or horizon mode) keep increasing throttle, I tried calibration, even the BLHeli app...nothing happend and the motors act the same way. But than I put the integral on 0 and the Problem was gone. (Angle Mode , Horizon and Air mode) I would like to understand why... subtrims are in the tolerances. :) (Sorry for my bad english.)
Try using DSHOT150, I am using DSHOT150 with no issues on the Wizard. Set the throttle percentage to around 3.5-4, also there is no ESC calibration needed with DSHOT since it's all digital signals. You will need to update betaflight to 3.1.6 if your not already on it, and your ESC's firmware to 16.6 I believe.
No problem... let me know if that helped and if not I will think what else could be going on... Might just have a bad FC. If that doesn't work I would reflash betaflight 3.1.6 and make sure to check the Full Chip Erase option. Then reset your options, sometimes things get out of sort and this is what it takes.
I've been having a lot of difficulty with my flysky fs-ia6 and wizard x220. I have a video on my channel. If you or anyone has an idea I would really appreciate it.
I watched your video, so just to be clear your setup for ibus correct, I think I saw that in your video. If you go into BLHeli Configurator (download from chrome web store) do you see all 4 ESC's (plug battery in and hit Read Setup)? Also if you go onto receiver tab with quad powered you get no input on any channels? Also what protocol are you running? Wizard from my understanding will only support up to DSHOT 150, thats what I am currently using.
Slackervilles yea as I learned more I came to that realization. I put up a video a couple of days ago on configuring that. Find it here : ruclips.net/video/ZB_Lj5sInLQ/видео.html

What really. I ordered mine November 27 2016. I only got mine yesterday. So about 2 1/2 months!!!!! LOL But mine did ship the same day yours did.
jarrod landry wow that's crazy.. where do you live ? That might make a difference but I wouldn't think 2 months
My first one took two months to arrive. #2 and 3 showed up a bit quicker...1.5 months lol. Slow boat from China!
Big help thankyou very much, you coverd other things not mentioned in other video's subscribed 👍😉
happy flying
this is the only setup I was able to get to work..thanks..

thanks heaps mate, that thing has been doing my head in, i just had the receiver connected the wrong way

'Anks guvna! Was a purfectly hehpful vid-eo!

Do not worry :)
It is Normally!!
Read!!
Why do my motors keep accelerating on the bench when I arm without props ?
With props off on the bench, I arm the quad and the motors start.

a little more about why.
Answer: That is the flight controller trying to correct for changes
in aspect, mainly due to fact your quad shakes slightly when the motors
spin, the sensors pick it up and then the flight controller tries to
correct, it can't because you don't have props on. All perfectly normal.
i very reccomend read this manual!
github.com/betaflight/betaflight/wiki/Frequently-Asked-Questions
Alex, thanks for the link. One of the most helpful sources I have seen.
OMG dude your vid literally helped me fucking 3 times to solve problems thx a lot
Hey i just got my eachine... I had the same issue. that is normal just take off and it will be gone.. also if that is happening in the mode that you are currently in try changing the mode. I had the same issue.
ooh man you do it easiest. I burned up my firts receiver which came with the quad, I was triying to binding it with a 7.4 v battery :-( and now I see your video and realized that you can do it with the quad itself. thanks!
very helpful thankyou.i however connected to Ibus as its more responsive.
Ralph Kluge thanks.. I have an additional video covering that
Hi I didnt get rtf but my receiver is not working on beta flight I have the ia6 receiver could that be it please help
its correct that when the reciever tab in betaflight doesnt show any response that you cant stick with the firmware thats comes stock on the quad so update betaflight configurator to the latest version..
then make a jumper with paperclip and go boot mode and flash the latest firmware .
then put the jumper that came with the in the box into the reciever and rebind your quad to the transmitter.
check on the transmitter if the ppm output is off . if it is turn it on again
then reconnect the quad to beta flight again it there should be response now and and setting the failsafes should all work fine now!!!!
1 more tip : DO NOT download the betaflight configurator from the chrome web store or betaflight will NOT work properly with the firmware on the quad so download via google off the main website
most people that encounter this problem is the ignorance to try with the stock firmware and not be willing to flash like myself "xD
thank you, your video was awesome and helped us alot.
HELLO, HOW CAN I RESET THE CONFIGURATION OF MY DRON. I CHANGED THE CONFIGURATION OF THE PORTS AND DO NOT LET ME CONFIGURE THE MSP
Can you only put in 2 channels on the switches or more because I want to ad 3....
You can use iBus with flysky.
Nice video thanks for the info
My transmitter is bind to the receiver but when I plug in the battery for the quad while it's connected to Betaflight, Betaflight can't read the inputs as if the transmitter and receiver is not bind
If your using Flysky transmitter defaults make sure the channel mapping on the betaflight receiver screen is set to AETR1234. Are you using iBus or PPM?
super!! thanks Jason G!!
Might be like 998 and 2001
Quick question from a noob , does this get acro mode?
I did this and I keep getting failed cereal port when I connect to computer need help if you could
What is the difference between beta flight and clean flight I seen another guy set up his wizard using clean flight but I thought it came with beta flight out of the box I just ordered the ready to fly model I guess it is the newer updated version of the Eachein wizard x220 not the s the First one but updated with a new flight controller and a new motors what will it come with whit beta flight
casper. do it all betaflight is newer and keeps up with advancements more IMO, I haven’t seen much running cleanflight for quite sometime
iv got the same flysky i6 transmitter, receiver and betaflight 3.1. I also have the same problem, did you solve the problem and is your transmitter responding?
artuurinsh I think you have to make sure ppm is turned on in the tx menu. Does that fix it?
yep!
that's what I did and it worked
hi guys i do all in the video and commentary but i can't start my wizard !!ppm is on on the recever ,mayby i dont disarm it it s my first wizard ...... any idea ?? sorry for my inglish
Check this video out : ruclips.net/video/eaj0M218HSM/видео.html
2. I don't think it matters as long as when you look at the receiver tab in betaflight the values are really close to 1000/2000 on the top and bottom and when centered at 1500. You just want to make sure the flight controller is getting those values as input, so however you achieve that is ok.
Oh nice !! I will look into it. Thanks again for all your information !! Cheers bro !
hi I have problem controller connects to wizard but if I puss throttle motors won't even work
but in betaflights show throttle in reciver menu throttle works.Does anyone know what to do
Hello Kristo, I just had this same problem. I had to adjust the sub trims, and endpoints on my controller to fix this issue.
hey i got everything setup but i still dont see how to do acro mode i got horizion and angle but no acro....do i need to flash it with 3.1
airmode on the modes tab is same thing as acro

It's best to watch videos from same person and use ibus as the first option of connection then sbus second and ppm as a last alternative.
i cant get my transmitter to work its binded the motors run in betaflght wtf
if the motors keep spinning while connected to betaflight you should setup the ARM switch in the modes tab and the motors will stop and you can spin them mannually
Joe C try setting up as IBUS which is better anyways. I have another video showing how to set that up.
yea, I'm having the same problem with binding the transmitter to the receiver and betaflight not reading the inputs.
What is bataflight 3.1.7 and what can it help if I'm on 3.1
3.1.7 has some bugs on wizards, better try 3.1.1
so after my other f4 flightboard went out i have to throw the sp racing board on alien but now after selecting uart1 with msp on and other not on and configuration the receiver ill use instead tarantis is flysky fs-i6 and its ppm-rx input and then receiver it wont show any response nothing moves... i see on radio its linked or binded there but nothing works on receiver in betaflight what could be issue
Did you verify channel map in receiver tab is correct? I have forgotten to change it before and I get the same issue if I do.
the aetr1234? or how ever you need setup? that tab?
correct... if your using flysky then aetr1234 is correct.. probably a dumb question but did you make sure to plug a battery in to the quad first? Alot of receivers won't power off USB for the receiver.
yeh i take lipo hookup to flight controller while usb hooked up to beta and then turn my radio on.. same thing as tarantis and x4r-sb rx but it just glitches and all over place so idk what is wrong
Did you turn off serial rx on UART3?
Do you have to flash after changes are made?
I'm on a Mac.
Did my other suggestions help at all? Do you even see the /dev/cu.wchusbserial1420 in the list when you plug in via the micro usb plug?
What about if you see 3 esc instead of 4 in the Blheli ? Is it a motor issue or esc ? Thx
Probably an esc issue
Jason Graham thank you I will have a look!
thank you
Can you not do full acro with this quad??
Yep!
wow that sucks, i thought this was a good quad :(
Tynan Roussety mis read your question.. yes you can do full acro with this quad.
oh, awesome hahah, cheers.
Anyone know if i can use dshot 300 on a standard eachine wizard
The newer wizards might support it now, you can switch to dshot300 and see if it works. If the motors twitch then you might need to drop to dshot150
hi mate why dont you flash all in blheli?
Dan Lyell there use to be an issue with flash all so it was recommended to do each individually
ok thanks mate. i use flash all it has been ok for me
hello i want to ask you when i plug in my drone it keeps beeping constantly?
Jason Graham So;
1) OneShot
2) Rest of PID's default
3) Basicly the motors (even on air mode or horizon mode) keep increasing throttle, I tried calibration, even the BLHeli app...nothing happend and the motors act the same way. But than I put the integral on 0 and the Problem was gone. (Angle Mode , Horizon and Air mode)
I would like to understand why... subtrims are in the tolerances.
Jason Graham I'll try :) Thanks for your help :)
Use ibus more accuratel...
Slackervilles yea as I learned more I came to that realization. I put up a video a couple of days ago on configuring that.
Find it here : ruclips.net/video/ZB_Lj5sInLQ/видео.html
Thanks for the information.I bought a new echine wizzard x220 for my grand sons birthday, and im still trying to set it up.
