I am a content person by nature. Took retirement a year ago. Now since last 4 months have taken up a role to please my spouse (which is an impossible task 😊). I moved to a new place and have taken interest in devotion since 1 year. I goto Satsung -2 times a week and sing bhajans with people. I am yet to consolidate all my investments as I am running into some legal hurdles. But I am at peace. I love listening to philosophy. Have started reading books. This keeps me going. I didn’t feel that I missed 9-5 job at all. This is my nature. People are different and some people can’t sit home even for an hour. I kinda adjust to whatever situation I am in.
Haha. That role is an impossible task indeed ;-) Glad you don't miss your job. Indeed, everyone is different and have to choose their own path towards the retirement life.
Hi Yogi. Just started followinh you and could resonate very much with the thoughts on retirement, lifestyle, residency etc. Love it. I fully agree that ideally 50 should be the age to retire from work and corporate world but not retire from living and experincing life
Awesome, thank you for following. Glad the messages resonate. We are on the other side of the corporate world now and it has opened our eyes to the life outside of those corporate walls!
Totally agree with you ...the moment you start putting things in Excel ..it gives much more clarity . I tried doing it with my Net worth and it was an eye opener . Thanks for this wonderful video .. I like the way you practically summarize the yrs .. low - GO..Go-Go ..quite useful
This time I'm sober! Great video, will be sharing with my nearest and dearest. Saw something similar a long time ago, someone drew a straight line which represents your life. You fill in education (20-25%), work (50-60%) and realise what little you have left. Helps you rethink and as another comment said, reprioritize. I'm turning 50 this year and have really been reassesing my priorities. My parents were born in India. The reason i mention this is because I've grown up with the mindset of leaving/giving the kids 70% and we (wife and I) enjoy the 30%. I think we need to strive for a better balance. In the 'west' (read white), the culture , from what I've seen, the parents duty stops after they give their children an education, high school or, if capable, college/university. I'm a huge advocate of migrating to expedite retirement or stretch the go-go period as you call it. Life is short and tomorrow really isn't promised. Like everything, a balance needs to be reached. Enjoyed your video, keep it up!
Haha ... well you have great comments while being sober or not ;-) I think 50 is definitely a good age to reassess priorities Yeah agree, it is important to strike that balance. The best thing to give the kids is best education and initial head start with their career. That is more valuable to them rather than leaving stuff when they are in their 50s.
I take so much inspiration and motivation watching your videos as some of my timelines are similar to yours.. I just quit my job an year ago and plunged into entrpreneurship full itme and wants to scale it big as well as enjoy the free time. Keep doing these videos and inspire people to live a holistic life 🙂
Excellent Video. That time is finite, irrecoverable is self evident but hits you when visualized. Some dread the real social stigma of retirement so keep working and worse end up baby sitting their grand kids "to be useful" carrying a sense of guilt for free time. Sharing my experience, I tried it for 10 months, but got back into the work force for all the wrong reason you outline. The must haves at 19.36 are more for high net worth , really fired people. While it would be a wish list or dream for others. Wonder if you have budget must dos 🙂.
Thanks. Can understand the lure back to the workforce.Well hopefully the silver lining is that you would be enjoying the freedom again soon and this time a much wiser and experienced! :) Yes there are lots of budget must dos, as there are many joys in life that are free. Will try to compile a list of such 'priceless yet free' stuff that we've had the pleasure of experiencing
Well put..also nobody knows how much one can live..early retirement if have money is best as once we have job etcnwe hardly has any time for travel etc..i would say u guys taken best decision to retire early n do whatever u want ..world is beautiful..keep making sureb videos guys..
Thanks for sharing 🙏 really insightful and thought provoking. We are so hard wired in our corporate life ...still coming to terms with the fact that we hv an identity beyond that nameplate on that door
Thanks. Indeed. The corporate world seems to be doing an amazing job hardwiring us with this 'work ethic' and 'sense of purpose' brainwashing. Takes time to completely shrug it off.
After seeing the extract from your to do list... I think people need a massive retirement corpus to live like that So only someone with very high salary (>40 LPA) & no kids will be able to achieve it But really loved your to do list & your perspective
Thanks and glad you liked the perspective. As for the 'to do list', hopefully our list inspires others. Main objective is to maximise the value of time within the limits of one's resources. But each one should (and can) have their own list, as every person has their own individual tastes and aspirations.
Sometimes it's better to avoid calculations, life runs on its own pace, not on Excel... it's ok to have financial calculations for a stable future but LIFE is way more complicated and can be simple at the same time so better Live it ...
I am 33 Years old guy with twin daughters & have a meek net worth of 4-5 lakh (Excluding PF) but I want to retire by the age of 50 and work toward teaching as a profession in my retirement. I also aspire to do farming, travel few places which are in my bucket list & learn lot many new things. This video was very interesting in that perspective, thank you! Hopefully I would be able to achieve what I have planned for myself and perform better in my career and investment to help me achieve it.
Don't worry about the current net worth. The great news is that you have the right mindset and ambition. So I am sure you will be able to achieve to FIRE. Just keep the focus on career growth, save well and consistently invest. Hopefully the videos will keep giving you new foods for thought.
Now 33 Means you have 17 years to achieve FIRE How did you planed your daughters Education and Marriage? When your reach 50 , What is your daughters stage (Like Education completed or Marriage completed)
@@santhoshsomu6711 I am investing the maximum permissible amount per year for both of my daughters in SSY that should generate decent corpus post maturity. It should take care one of the above either marriage or higher studies. I have also started investing in MF in parallel (just started). By the time I reach 50, they will be 19 years old.

Hi Ankit, thanks for appreciating the videos. 1. We haven't really decided on Hua Hin. Plan to live here for another two months before going to Chiang Mai and exploring that. Will make a decision after evaluating a few cities. 2. Will be addressing the expenses in Thailand in an upcoming video (watch out for that over the next two weeks!). 3. Hopefully that video would give an insight into the rentals. 4. Yes it is more expensive than Delhi but Thailand is less polluted, much safer, better quality of life (less road rage, no horns etc) and a better tax structure (a topic that I addressed in the taxes video).

1. Parents yes.
2. No children.
Nice thumbnail
Thanks
I wanna see a couple with two kids achieve FI. That would be a more real example. Great video tho😊
With kids also people achieve FI, enough example out there.

Click Bait, where did you reveal your networth ?
Never said we reveal the networth. It says about our time corpus, which is a very important part as a person's net worth isn't just money they have but also the time they ... and what they do with it.
As I mention in the video, each one has a very different financial net worth (you, us, Mukesh Ambani will have very different levels of wealth) but the time corpus is finite and more or less same for all.
Are you Childfree?
Yes. However the 'time corpus' remains unchanged whether one has no children or many :-)
