- During the height of Prohibition, Al Capone reigns over the Chicago underworld with an iron fist. Eliot Ness, a federal agent from the Treasury Department, is brought in to take down Capone and his organization. With the help of a street-smart cop, he assembles a team of officers willing to fight a murderous crime-boss.

The baby on the steps is an homage to the great Russian film
Battleship Potemkin from 1925, and it's most famous scene the Odessa Steps sequence.
That scene is probably the most famous in movie history.
The shots and the editing in Battleship Potemkin really stand the test of time. Superlative stuff.
@@vinniemoran7362 It's for a reason that a million years later Potemkin is STILL a staple in all film schools.
Nitti wasn't thrown off a building this movie played loose with facts
Sean Connery's death in this movie. Gets me every freakin time. The saddest part for me. RIP Mr Connery xx 🌹🙏
Me too but at least his killer got sent screaming to his death off the building by Ness.
Rip To A Great Actor Sean Connery, Still Miss You, Always
Great movie my only hangup is how they portrayed Frank Nitti, he was the bodyguard and 1st cousin of al Capone and ended up taking over as capones successor. He never took a swan dive off a building like this movie portrays. Nitti met his end in 1932 from a raid on his building by the Chicago police, he was shot in the back.
But here’s the thing it’s NOT meant to be an accurate portrayal it’s just entertainment
hey do you know why/how he became Frank Nitti,
when his real name is Frank Nitto?
Baby Stroller Shootout...one of the best scenes in cinema history... Climaxed by Stone shooting the gangster right in the mouth.
14:33 "He is an accountant. He has never fired a gun before". Not so fast. He said he carried a badge when asked by Connery. That means he was an armed treasury department agent. Even today IRS agents can request to be trained and be armed. Today the Bureau of Alcohol Tobacco and Firearms is part of the Treasury Department.
And as someone else pointed out, presuming he's in his 30s, there's a very good chance he fought in France in 1917/18.
Untouchables is a frickin classic, no mstter how fictional it is. They don't make movies like this anymore, sadly. DePalma had some real gems. And the theme is THE most perfect gangster movie theme music ever made.
The real Eliot Ness and his untouchables had very little to do with bringing down al Capone
And it was actually 2 guys that Capone battered with the baseball bat they were trying to take over his empire and he found out
Don't have any movie suggestions. Just wanted to say how much I enjoy watching you two react.
Thank you so much!
Durning the Depression, Capone was the first to open soup kitchens. Capone did die of syphilis, but he was out of prison and died in Miami.
Great Performances By Everyone In This Movie
The music might seem familiar as its was done by Ennio Morricone who scored are the Sergio Leone films (Spaghetti Westerns).
No appreciating word about THIS score by ENNIO "THE MAESTRO" MORRICONE - the ONE and ONLY, whom I was blessed to see and hear once live in Verona, Italy!! One of the BEST composers and conductors EVER, ... and - surprise!, surprise! - NOT an American!
one of kevin costner's best. interesting fact: costner was cast as elliot ness based on his resemblance to the actor robert stack, who played ness on the tv show of the same name.
other great costner films you should see (i know you already saw FIELD OF DREAMS, my most favourite of his.) :
NO WAY OUT
BULL DURHAM
DANCES WITH WOLVES
and his current tv show YELLOWSTONE is fantastic also.
thanks!
Great reaction guys! One of Brian DePalma’s best films. I highly recommend some other DePalma films from his heyday: the original Carrie (1976) with Sissy Spacek, Dressed to Kill (1980) with Michael Caine & Angie Dickinson, Blow Out (1981) with John Travolta & John Lithgow, and the cult classic rock spoof Phantom of the Paradise (1974). Each is incredibly rewarding in its own way.
You need to check out Heat, Training Day, American History X, Goodfellas, Casino, The Shining
the shootout on the stairs was filmed in Union Station in Chicago. there are two sets of stairs that look like that. it was filmed on the north stairway
At Right about the same spot where Capone’s man got shot through the mouth there is actually a spot in the wall with s chip in the stonework that looks like a .38 bullet could theoretically hit.
Going to jail for tax evasion really was the end of Capone, and of course prohibition was over so he didn't have the power that he had at the height of prohibition. He did die of syphilis.
Capone used to sit at his house in Miami & fish in his swimming pool
that's how messed up his brain became
New subscriber 😊❤. I love this movie, I own a special edition version on DVD. I've seen it tons of times and when Malone died I lost it lol. He's my favorite character and being half Scottish I can relate to the character a lot. Great reaction 😊
know what's funny?
I have probably seen this 20 times
& never noticed that when Malone takes a drink before he dies,
it was illegal then
If you guys want to see an amazing film with Patricia Clark in it, you should check out “Lars And The Real Girl”
That was one of those movies that you think will be a one time watch and then being a really good movie.
Frank Nitti was not thrown off the roof by Ness. He died 7 years after Capone went to jail. Comitting suicide by the train tracks. Self inflicted gunshot wound.
i remember when i watched this when i was little,
my dad Nitti shot himself 3 times before he finally died
Great to see you ! Could you react to Dances with Wolves?
That one's definitely on our list! Can't say when, but we'll get to it at some point.
@@Flix2Us Great !!! You won't regret watching that movie👍
One thing I really hate about this movie is how they misrepresent the real judge who saw that the jury had been bought and HE was the one to change the juries because he was an honest man. I think there was 10 Untouchable agents. Capone clubbed the member of his gang because he found out the guy was going to kill Al and take over. The rest of the loyal Capone lieutenants were ok with the clubbing.
For some reason I just thought of the movie "Serial Mom" watching this.
At the film's start Ness makes his men pledge not to drink. The only two of his men that were killed were shown drinking. The one on the bridge and then Connery's character in his apartment. Just realized it.
there were a few inaccuracies(probably intentional).for one, Ness carried out most of the investigation from DC. also, he and Capone never met. and by the time he was on the Capone case he had left the Treasury Dept. and was working for the Dept. of Justice.
no, they met at least once.
before Capone went to the pen.
Mr . Mom
The Incredible Shrinking Woman
Are also pop culture icons to watch...
Keep the ages of the characters in mind, though ! Wallace could be a WWI vet.
Great movie, great cast, enjoyed your reaction! Thanks guys! 🙏🇨🇦
Nitti wasn't thrown off a building
As Always Love Seeing Your Reactions To All These Great Movie's 😊
The train station scene was taken from another movie
Great Movie, Great Cast & Great Director 😊
I would like to add The Postman to the list of Costner movies.
I don't really know why it isn't talked about more.
too long & boring
DID YOU GUYS NOT RECOGNIZE ROBERT DENIRO AS CAPONE.?
So inaccurate Nitti wasn't thrown off a building
Not a single solitary word about Ennio Morricone's great musical score!!!!!! Charles Martin Smith (the accountant) said the music just lifted him, Garcia and Costner out of their seats the first time they saw the completed movie .....guess you are not as into film music as other aspects of movies.
please..hope you stopped the inserts🥴
Nitti wasn't thrown off a building
& his name wasn't Nitti, it was Nitto
