the guitarist out of Russian Circles boosts the Burnley with the Wessex on his current pedal board and it sounds so bloody massive.
Sophisticated voicings and a really great review. Thank you!
Milton cleans ? Hahahaha
Brighton boost?
Sheffield phaser 🛰️
Milton cleans refers to the ‘sparkle’ clean sound of TesseracT, which came from Milton Keynes!
@@JohnBrownemonuments I grew up in Brackley and went to MK all the time, the last thing I would have ever predicted is that it would have its own legendary metal sound 🤷♀️
John Browne I love your version of cleans. Your cleans always have a bit of grit to them. Great buddy as always.
Bogner Harlow belongs at the end of the pedal chain. The Wessex is boosting my KSR Ceres and all are going into the FX return of a Fryette PS-2 50w powerstation. Tonal bliss.
The Harlow's Bloom is an impressively unique and expressive function, I seriously dig it. Thought the Burnley's warmth & harmonic complexity were great, and all the pedals sounded seriously organic. The LED reflecting the decay of the notes is neat as hell too. Cheers for the demo Browne.
they should have called one the Bogner Regis.
I watched an interview with Mr. Bogner, he holds Mr. Rupert Neve in very high regards with his involvement in the creation of these pedals.
Im glad i came across your channel.. like the vibes I get off your vids. You seem like a chill dude lol
i kind of prefer the ecstasy and uberschall pedals but i do love the harlow. i just use it on my clean tones as a tiny boost/compressor type thing.
I have the original Harlow and it’s one of my favorites. I run it almost all the time, straight into the front end of my Vox. It’s a great boost. I’m curious about the Wessex though. (Right now I use a Bad Monkey which has turned out to be really good. An underrated pedal for sure.) Cheers.
This comment aged very well hahaha
The Harlow is fucking brilliant ..The old housings looked better to me.
I’ve owned these, really liked the overdrives. 🎸
I actually rehearse in Burnley haha
Lol I have the v1 wessex and burnley. They are glorious over pretty clean cleans. I wish there would be a v1 vs v2 out there. Might pick up the v2s just to see myself. As far as the harlow, I am looking for compression but something tells me there might be better options out there.
I liked the transformation in the part where he does ringing chord progressions then shifts to muted fast picks.
Digging that Wessex my boy, as does your right hand apparently haha. Top vid as always! cheers man
Fuck yeah Browne. Your video content has improved so much, keep it up man!!
Northwest represent! Lol. Burnley, bit of Northern rough :D The colour is a nod to the football team also.
Thumbnail game strong, Sir browne
Did you damage your neck somehow bro? Great vid btw.
I noticed that
@@ItsSauIGoodman yeah bro I feel bad for asking but it seems worse that I've seen and just wondering if he is okay.
I thought maybe he has (AS) . I have two family members with it. Mick Mars has it also.
Sounds awesome dude!
Bizarre that there's no Bogner Regis
I have the Bogner Ecstacy Red and Uberschall pedals which I like/get good use from. To be honest I've never bothered to check out these pedals as the names alone put me off quite honestly. The Wessex I could see being a useful one to maybe pick up if I see one for a decent price. Didn't like the Harlow, It seemed to be doing a fuzz with torn speaker cone type of dirt which isn't for me, Sounded better working less into the gain channel of the amp though to be fair to it.
Appreciate the demos John as always fella, All the best your way and to all
Dean \m/
The Harlow is a great compressor for cleans, tosin uses it a lot, but it's odd with gain, the clean John used here was already way dirtier than I'd mix it with. Less is more with that pedal though
When is the Bogner Regis being released?
Blue feature is pretty cool. Great job.
I'm usually a drum player, or singer. I don't know anything about guitars, but here I am because it is John Browne and I will watch 'til the end!
Has anyone already compared these against the V1 pedal? Thoughts?
I have. The V1 footswitches were impossible to turn on and off. V2 is a better footswitch. Sounds the same. Smaller enclosure.
The Burnley is the ONE you would want to get out of the bunch.
I had Burnley. Excellent distortion but not as good as Ecstasy Red (original). It’s in the same territory.
Oh shit they are rereleasing these! Love my Harlow!
Hey man it would be funny to see you explain why those places are terrible im Britain at least to us USA followers. That is of course unless its not funny and its sad.
Harlow is an absolute hole. It was built in the 50s to house the overspill from bombed London.
It was planned as a new town with defined industrial areas where everyone would work, connected by cycle paths.
Some of the estates were like something out of dystopian nightmare (Google "Bishopsfield Harlow) with concrete housing and underground carparks where you could get stabbed in the dark.
It was also the site of the first high rise housing in the UK.
I was born there and stayed for 23 years. Now I'm free.
Burnley is just lacking any real prospects for people. It's slowly been in decline since industry left.
Good chips there though.
Reeeally liking The Wessex and Burnley .
Massive and tight sounding on a lead channel !
Would like to hear that Bloom pedal in conjunction with the plasma rack. OMG
If they make one called stevenage it should just sound like a broken fuzzpedal combined with a semitone up and down harmonizer
Do we know specifically why they named them after Burnley, Wessex ...and Harlow , of all places? Do they have ties to these places?
Also...found someone who lives in one of these places in the dislikes haha
Because Reinhold Bogner designed those pedals in collaboration with Legend Rupert Neve. And in order to pay hommage to him, Reinhold decided to name the full collection after places that were important to Rupert's career
Yes! they are back they don’t seem to have the Rupert Neve transformers anymore. The Harlow sounds way different than the old version. Buzz cracking farty it seems
Somn I think that pedal will change completely depending on what amp you put it through. I don’t necessarily think it liked the Ampete One!
Good point. I didn’t consider that. Thanks.
No they do still have the Rupert Neve design transformers. There's even a transformer logo on the face of the pedals
For those of us who don’t live in the UK, could someone explain why these places are so awful? :3
Full of dirty ugly tramps, pick pocketers, and drug addicts
phantomofoaktown Ha ha, thanks.
phantomofoaktown So the kind of place where musicians live?
@@ArrakisOCE fuck all to do with that in Harlow. Combat 18 were headquartered there in the early 90s.
Multiculturalism would have been much better.
HELLO JHON FROM INDIANA USA love your channel .. can you tell me or everybody how the BOGNER UBERSCHALL 200$ PEDAL SOUNDS VRS THE SYNERGY UBERSCHALL?!!!
Daniel Robert Herr the synergy uberschall is amazing but I’ve not tried the pedal.
I have a question for anyone who might know but can you do a 7 string version of DADGAD tuning.
Sure, you can do it in A like tesseract does: AEADEAD
Or in Bb which is something Browne uses often: Bb F Bb Eb F Bb Eb
How does the Wessex compare to a Maxon od808
Man that Burnley sounds freaking WICKED
Harlow Essex REPRESENT
Still waiting for the Bognor Croydon pedal, soon as I you turn it on it nicks your wallet and smashes you with a glass bottle.. ah good times :D
Jay Murphy 👏🏽👏🏽🤣
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Nice thumbnail. Dream of ethot lover metalhead.
What a perfect video to eat breakfast to
Daddy Browne with ahegao face
Thats definitely not a clean tone my dude! You’ve colored the tone with some of the grit from the amp at that point so we don’t get to truly hear the Distortion and “Bloom” unit! OD I would put in front of a saturated sound tho. That thumbnail is hilarious btw haha
Привет из России Джон!!!
Thanks for not playing mindless solos
Em B my pleasure, in the 70-80 years of the solid electric guitar, we heard enough of that by the end of the 80s.
The dirtier the area......the dirtier the sound ?
I TRUST YOUR RECORDINGS COMING THROUGH MY GEAR (question below)
HARLOW????!?!?? Are we going to have the "HATFIELD", or the "PETERBOROUGH" next? Haha... very strange choices for naming conventions haha....
SPLEEN FLIPPER - No Escape From "MYNDBREYTING" ep ruclips.net/video/0zL2XndEIV4/видео.html
Pushing a "clean" tone with a boost/comp and being surprised that your amp is sounding farty? uhhhhhhhhh
Sound great but.... They look like buegi make-up cases for little princesses 🧚 kinda too much sugar in the tank 🦛
Look at the older design of them, I like it better
