This is what I don't really get tbh. As I understood it, the problem in Sabaody wasn't that it was impossible to get the collars of, but that they would explode the moment you tried to take it off. They then had this scene where Rayleigh waited after activating the bomb inside. If it was just armarment, why would he need to wait in the first place?

But to be fair, haki gets stronger the more you train against harder opponents, and people irl are known to surpass their limits in life threatening situations. So I'd say this is acceptable
Angel296 Hyogoro had the same aura around his hand when he used that Haki as well...the aura around the hardening is to show that ryou is being used. I believe the colored lightning is now what shows that king’s Haki is being used...and the atmosphere being distorted.

Don't get me wrong, I love Toei, they mess up at times but then they do have their moments of spectacular animation! However, I cannot fathom the static pattern and collection of sound effects they utilize in every single anime they produce, I'm sure coming up with new distinguished sound effects for every show is not a big deal lol

The old man told him that he need to be angry and yet in control. In that moment between life and death, luffy became extremely angry at his own weakness, yet the tension demanded him to not lose focus as the goal was clear. And so he surpassed his own limits by using full force in extremely controls manna, channeling the haki out into this epic move.
