Happy Easter bro! I hope you and your ladies are having a great weekend. We had a great visit with my parents. 73 to you and your ladies from all of us here. Talk with you soon.
Hey Simon - I was just re-watching your video and I decided to take down my home-brew 10-element 70 cm Yagi from my roof and try to use it for portable satellite reception. I've got an old tripod and am going to try and rig up some kind of brackets to hold my HT(s). If I get the reception part down, maybe I'll build up another 3-elements for the 2m uplink. We'll see how it goes.
Yeo, quite a few on those satellites , pitty you didnt get in ! I see that yaesu was slipping around , how about cutting two little one inch slotts in that holder and threading a velcro tie through and keep it nice and steady whilst still easy to remove .. 73 M0XJA
Hopefully another time I will punch through the pile up. It's fun regardless of success. The yaesu was as good as it always has been on rx but I noticed the extra weight when moving the boom around compared to the feng. I will keep experimenting and good idea on the additional holding with velcro. I just remembered I have a rubber yamaha battery strap that will be perfect. I will have to fabricate some clips/lugs, it will cool. 73, buddy enjoy your bank holiday Monday
Lol yes it has a fantastic signal when in the clear. I will try it again soon it's good fun for sure and nice to be in the garden looking weird but who cares about that lol
I got some odd looks from the neighbours because I have to stand in the front garden as the road is East West so I get a clear view for the ISS pass.@@M0YKSHamRadio
@davidbridge3542 you will get it on a vertical but not all of it and it will be in and out with fading but still good at certain passes/positions. I hear it quite well when outside with a small rubber duck antenna as long as it's a 2m/70cms (145 and 433MHz) antenna. I pick it up well on my Baofeng with it's standard antenna. Have fun. I might try the next pass
As a newbie there is a lot to take in when there's lots of permutations. Think I need to focus on one or two birds and get proficient at picking them up. Cheers

Thanks bro I appreciate your watch. Yes I was trying to simulate operating on the southern hemisphere 😁👍 all good fun. Best 73 to you.

Surprising how strong the downlink is even when pointing the wrong way! Better luck next time.

Is the repeater on the ISS switched on for every orbit ?
Yes but you can check at Amsat Sat Status. To stay up to date,👍
Cheers.
Could you hear it on a vertical antenna and a scanner? Or is it full on with just a beam ? Thanks for your help.
