  • Aired on NBC 10-29-69 and sponsored by Bank of America.
Just found this old DVD and not seeing it posted, I thought I'd upload it for any Herb/ TJB fans. The audio & video isn't the greatest quality, however, it is a blast from the past for those of us who actually viewed the original broadcast that Oct night.
Note: at the end of a segment around the 23 minute mark is blank for 1 minute before the next segment starts.
Includes original commercials. Petula Clark is also featured.
The video ends just before 1 hour. There's a few extra minutes at the end - have no idea what it is.

This is a band that rivalled the popularity of The Beatles' and The Rolling Stones circa 1966! Some of the earliest memories of music for me as a child are listening to The TJB. Thank you for the upload.

I've been listening to Herb my whole life. I got to see Lani and Herb live 2 years ago. It was a real moment for me and I was so glad to see him live. I've had this album since I was 5 years old and always wondered about the images in the gate fold sleeve of the album. Now I know where they come from. Thank you. This is wonderful. 😁This was music video's BEFORE MTV. Great stuff.

What a treasure blast from the past - thank you for uploading. He was at the zenith of his career. Hard to believe his world would take a tumble and he would not be seen for a few years. I really enjoyed hearing him play his well-known hits and some popular tunes as well...like Moon River with the orchestra in his beach house. LOL. I would really like to see him now - he's touring and enjoying the crowds who love his music.

I've owned The Brass Are Comin' album for decades and always wondered what the actual TV special was like. Now I know, so thanks for uploading this. The best part for me was the concert sequence, because it's the Brass live and in your face, even with a few goofs, but a bit more edge to the band compared to the records. As a drummer, I was glad to see any and all shots of Nick Ceroli and his Camco drums in action.

The first partial song featured, "The Sea is My Soil" and the third, 'The Treasure of San Miguel" are probably my two all time favorites of the TJB. A few more bars of Treasure would have been nice since it was cut very short and isn't a long song like Soil.

Herb had recently split from his first wife, and while he and Lani already knew each other from when she was in Brasil 66, I don't know if they'd hooked up yet. So I imagine Herb had a period when he could indulge in being single and famous.
