In the early 2010s, Self Reliance Outfitters (what used to be called The Pathfinder Store), sold knives from Habilis Bush Tools, Blind Horse Knives, Chris Caine, Jeff White and Old Hickory.
Yes, but to be fair, most of the time, for the last seven or eight years, at least, this knife has spent in my emergency backpack getting absolutely no use.
Prehistoric knives and axes found by archaeologists have changed my mind about survival knives. I do not look fpr perfection any more. knowing what we have now is always so superior. Keeping yourself in good shape and knowledge is more likely to be the deciding factor to survive.
I learned just now that newly sprouted bracken heads are eaten in Japan as food, and I was wondering to ask about our Western bracken. Do you know a good Christian survivalist forum I can join to ask such questions? Even one on FaceBook or ordinary websites? Thanks! @@SurvivalOnPurpose
I'm glad this is a flashback "to the beginning" knife review. Going forward it will be mandatory that I watch a Dave Ramsey video after one of yours. I've lost count of the knives I've purchased over the years because of SOP! But dang if I don't love every one of them.....
Ten years?? That doesn't seem right...Ten years well spent I reckon. 'What you're supposed to do is get a fire'. 🤣Truer words were never spoken, that was great! Thanks for the smile and the years of great content.
Ya didn't do balance and rotation test or start a fire. But scientifically speaking of course, ya didn't do your woop woop, woop before your throw that's the reason why ya didn't stick lol!!!
Where does the time go!! I remember wanting one but they were not available. Time to circle back to Pathfinder and add one to my collection. No fatwood, hair shaving, or rotation testing device.
The Trade knife and Scout knife are separate knives the Scout has a slightly longer blade and is 3/16 blade thickness vs 1/8 for the trade knife. Another great sharp Saturday vid!
I have no idea but I think the first maker was probably some dud on the 16th century, because it is supposed to be modeled after a French Trade Knife from that period. (I think)
I believe that the Pathfinder Trade Knife was always made by Habilis. Jeff white used to make the bush knife along with reproductions of 18th century English and French trade knives.
Wow. Major blast from the past. I am on my ancient tablet until ma new one gets delivere. This thing barely gets out of it's own way. I can't get to the link to see what tests are missin. Will have to wait until I get to my compute.
Love it!

Yep, I have a bunch of gear from the Pathfinder Store
Another excellent video bud, always looking forward for another. 😊
Thanks for the visit

That’s a long term review

Sumpthin' SHARP! Woo Hoo!
I like this idea. Looking at knives you've already done to see how they've held up. This is a smart and good idea.
Heck yeah brother! Been waiting for this one!!
Thanks. I appreciate it.
Appreciate the review
Thanks.
The stump: Hey! My heads on fire! That knife is definitely a blast from the past. ✌️🇺🇸
Making this video was fun.

Thanks for hangin' in there with me.

I wasn't talking about starting a fire. But that's a good point. However, there is one industry standard test that you I had not yet started doing.
Thanks Bryan. Must say I was cringing on the throws when the knife did not stick. I've broken a few treasured blades because of a bad throw.
I had no doubts ;-) well... maybe just one little tiny doubt.
Where does the time go!! I remember wanting one but they were not available. Time to circle back to Pathfinder and add one to my collection. No fatwood, hair shaving, or rotation testing device.
I'm not even sure these are available anywhere right now.
Good video Brian thanks for sharing YAH bless !
Thanks for watching
I'm guessing that this is a Gen 2 Pathfinder Trade Knife.
All I know is it's not the current version. The handles are fatter now. I'm thinking about buying one to compare them.
I didnt see the red neck sharpness test, the fire, or the balance and rotation test
Exactly

Thanks for the clarification. I couldn't tell from the website but it looked so similar I thought it we just renamed.
@@SurvivalOnPurpose they do look very similar they both look like amazing knives
I could be wrong but, wasn't the 1st maker of that knife Jeff White in Michigan? I've had that one for some time.

I’m still on an etch a sketch…..🤪 I have newer tablets, but I also have some old ones that are slower than molasses.
It will be there when you are ready ;-)
You didn't start a fire or a rotational/balance test.
Dang. You got one I missed, so you got 2 out of 3. There's another one. But, to be fair, I did sort of test the features needed for starting a fire.
Damn….. it’s been 10 years ???
Time flies
You have to clip all those vines to kill them off, or you're not going to have any trees left.
Still hasn't fixed that fence either. The vine maybe all that's holding the fence up.😁
Nah, the trees are survivors ;-)
But it's still working just fine. I call it the "weathered vintage" look ;-)
Nice video.
Thanks!
