Mors Kochanski was just a little old man in the woods almost until the day he died, so I hope you make it to your own old man in the woods phase. Congratulations and good job.
Mors was one of the coolest instructors that were brought in for a course that I took just for the credits, as I already had the bush knowledge from my people
Dan, your channel was responsible for rekindling my love of camping and using my mind and tools to make outdoor life more comfortable. I was a scout in the 80s. My passion for camp life and bushcraft started then. It, thanks to you and channels like your, is still going string. Here's to many more years and many more videos. Stay in woods my friend.
One of my favorite things you do is, “TEACH”. Dan, I’m an old man, with multiple years of post graduate schooling. I say this only to lend credence to my opinion that you are a fine teacher. You have found an excellent niche, teaching outdoors stuff. Way to go, man, good for you…good for us. And we thank you…from an old man in the hills of east Tennessee.
Been watching learning applying and teaching the skills I learn from you for about 4.5 yrs now. It’s always an adventure with you. Thank you. I don’t comment much, but I love the work you do, I teach it to my son and my girls kids. An several tips of yours have saved the day. My gf even went on a “girls only camp out” her buddies were looking for a plug and outlet. My baby. She pulled out her knife I helped her forge, and a ferro rod. The kids gathered wood, and presto! There was a quick cook fire. The pot hoist I forged and para cord kept them fed and warm at night. Learned the application from you. So from my family to yours thank you so much.❤
Post script: Today was my step daughters 6th birthday. I worked from 0600 to 1500, my ex brought my son (same age) to my workplace, and we rolled out through a massive thunderstorm. He used the lensatic compass he got for Christmas to know where we were headed the whole time. When we got to the state park, he hand delivered his step sisters gift and then proceeded to lure all of us, with his brothers help out to the lake, and could tell me directions from the recently showing sun, and used my pocket knife to show all the kids a makeshift compass. It is and was a proud moment for all of us. My girl an me, we raise warriors and hunters. My son and the apple of my eye worked out a full trail map today. I could cry. If I’d never sold my tear ducts for a roll of bank line and a new draw knife😂
Hey Dan, it is always a great pleasure to follow you in the woods. So much to learn in such a humorously manner, that could only be found on your channel. Thank you for taking along and all the best for the next 1000 videos, from Austria 🇦🇹🤠👍🏕🔥🍻
It's nice to know that a burly grown man likes his blankie and still does show and tell. Congratulations on many uploads. I'll have to count between my channels through the years to see how many I have.
Congrats, man! Funny story, I was camping with my girlfriend last weekend (she's normally a city girl), and she wanted to learn how to start a fire with flint and steel. And what do you know, completely independent of me, she started watching one of your videos on the topic! When I noticed I was like, "Oh hell yeah, you can trust his advice he's legit."
Dan, I love your videos, thousands of people love your videos. Your wealth of knowledge has taught thousands skills they would never have. I grew up in the woods. My father taught me a lot and I spend a lot of time in the forest. Which is why it's so valuable to me to have wild places. You are helping show the value of wild places and inspiring people to get out and enjoy the best thing about north America. The fact that public land is a thing we can all enjoy and recreate on is nothing short of a miracle. You are helping conserve wild places and I appreciate that more than anything. I look forward to another at least 10 years brother.
I started following you after your videos with Townsends and have learned a TON from you! I’ll be passing this knowledge on to my kids and their friends, and will be one of the guys in the nursing home still watching you talk about bushcrafting between pudding cups
Man, a thousand videos, 10 years of work.... Great to see it came together nicely for you, you're in a different place than at your humble beginnings. I've been watching Dan for years, including his first videos 🫡

CONGRATULATIONS!! Congrats Dan on your 1000 videos milestone and ten years of doing great content. You are one of the great survival/bushcraft channels out there.
@manfredconnor3194 I don't, but this younger generation sure does. Media and schools wanrmt them ti be girly-men, or even transgender. We need more men to stand up, speak out, and lead the way.
@@michaeldunwoody3629 No. They want to be "girly-men". They were born that way and its none of your business really. It reminds me of how homosexuals were treated back in the 80s. I am hetero, but I do not have a problem with these ppl. living the lifestyle that they want to live and don't understand why people like you do? Who gives a rat's ass what they do? They are line .0017% of the population. Let them have their rights and be done with it. Why is it any skin off your nose? It does in some cases remind me a bit of the scene in Monty-Python's film "The Life of Brian" where "Stan" wants to be called Loretta, but so what, who cares? Even if it is a fantasy or a delusion on their part, what does it matter? I mean, we have had belivers - Jews, Christians, Muslims, Budhists, (e.g. religious people) engaging in other kinds of more harmful and hurtful delusions/fantasies for Centuries and that never seemed to bother anyone, so why do people like you get all bent out of shape about a few people, who want to change their gender? I do not get it. What is the big deal. Please explain it to me.
It is nice to have found and great channel that reinforces what I was taught as a young'in; keep up the awesome work. I bought a belt patch from your shop and love it, it goes with me in the swamp and woods, comes in really handy, TY for the hard work y'all do.
I have a LOOOT of stuff from I call camping/bushcraft. Tarps, packs, knives, hatchets, saws. One of my favorite knives is a Morakniv Scout. Me and my grandson watch your channel every week, and I try to get him out in the back yard as often as I can. Congrats o n the 10/1000 day! I hope you have many more!
Congrats Dan , great accomplishment. I haven't been with you since the beginning but I definitely admire your passion & enthusiasm for the outdoors. Thanks for everything you have done for your followers. I wish you all the best in the future.
I love your enthusiasm and the simplicity with which you explain the skills you share. You speak clearly and don’t stop and start nor um and ahh. I am moderately skilled and had a rock climbing guide school. I am also an art lawyer and would be happy to explain legal and business issues related to what you do-copyright, trademark, disclaimers etc.
