  • I've been a fan of Loren Munk's paintings since learning about them through researching this mysterious fella that rides a bike around NYC to find openings of art he digs as his nom de plume ‪@jameskalm‬. I have been honored to sit in his studio and enjoy speaking about paintings and history together. This is one part of a great interview done in early 2014. Right around the same time as his exhibition at Freight and Volume. There is a video I am posting in the near future of my time at the exhibition on opening night in the middle of one heck of a winter that NYC had been experiencing.

What I like best abt Loren is that he simultaneously succeeds in talking about authorship within painting in a sense of "great artists steal" and succeeds in totally being original. I also foresee him as the end of painting.. A certain dislosure if you may!
