There's not going to be very many shows you see in your lifetime that come anywhere close to the realm of greatness they had this night. Arcade Fire is one of the best live bands of all-time, and this show is one of their best performances ever. You're very lucky to have been there, and especially at age 11. That's awesome.

I saw them on Austin City Limits 8 yrs. ago, repeat of 2007 visit. It took a bit to get the feel of their music as I was 65 at the time but then they just got into me and I won’t let go. I love their concert videos an sang and danced when I saw them in Seattle in 2016. What joy.

And if the snow buries my
    My neighborhood
And if my parents are crying
    Then I'll dig a tunnel
    From my window to yours
Yeah, a tunnel from my window to yours
You climb out of the chimney
And meet me in the middle
    The middle of the town
And since there's no one else around
We let our hair grow long and forget all we used to know
Then our skin gets thicker from living out in the snow
    You change all the lead
    Sleeping in my head
    As the day grows dim
I hear you sing a golden hymn
Then we tried to name our babies
But we forgot all the names that
The names we used to know
But sometimes we remember our bedrooms
    And our parent's bedrooms
And the bedrooms of our friends
Then we think of our parents
Well what ever happened to them?
    You change all the lead
Sleeping in my head to gold as the day grows dim
I hear you sing a golden hymn
The song I've been trying to sing
Purify the colors, purify my mind
Purify the colors, purify my mind
And spread the ashes of the colors
    Over this heart of mine

My first all time favourite song was as a ten year old (earth song) and then came a song called don't cry Joni (Conway Twitty) and then came enigma - the child in us, the shins new slang, Jeff Buckley mojo pin, pink Floyd coming back to life... How did I forget to mention black by pearl jam. Long story long this has been my all time favourite song for 8-10 years now. I almost got purify the colour purify my mind tattooed on my arms.

Not the most technically gifted band , not the most complex chords and musical nature. But fookin hell this band makes art , put your soul into 4 chords and you can make it sound like 100 all with different meaning.

    • @craig3652
      @craig3652 3 года назад +3

Technicality is overrated. I put passion above all else. Doesn't matter if it's 4 chords or 10 chords, if it's jazzy and intricate or simple and straightforward. Passion for what you do is the key to great music.
Also some of the individual members are rather technically skilled musicians, the music they make just doesn't need too much.
