@@jeffhildreth9244 the investigation proved that he was going under 55 mph when he crashed. Had it been for modern safety equipment like airbags and abs, James Dean may have survived that crash on September 30th 1955.
@@jackjoyce1744 The reason he was going under 55 mph when he crashed is that he had braked. He did not survive because of the seriousness of his injuries and the incompetent dolts who attended to him at the crash site.
@@jeffhildreth9244 I did read that his neck was broken and suffered multiple internal injuries. Maybe if he was left in the car for the ambulance to remove him, he could’ve survived because the bystanders dragged him out of the wreckage which probably caused more damage.
He slaps the redline a few times awesome! I was nervous the whole time - the track's a little damp, driving a $2,000,000 550 that they only made 90 of shoulder to shoulder with economy cars .... dang! What a treat, thank you.
@@The.Sky.Driver True you are probably right ... but then it seems to have such great patina and the stirring wheel looks seriously old. If it is it's a good one.!
The prices were still very different in 2005. You could get a very good Porsche G-Model for around 20.000€ back then. RS models in perfect condition for 30.000€. The 996 was still way more expensive than the classic models back then. I wish I could go back in time to shop some classics! A 964 Turbo would be my choice!
Judging from the bank angle on the clock/timer he's pulling a couple G's in some of those corners. I'd have to say in driving a 550 you'd be completely oblivious to how much your ass is hurting in that seat after a while...
Its a tourist run (there's a special German word for it), basically its an open class track day for people to go out and enjoy their cars and the track, its not really a race just a fun time.
Great driving well done👏. James Dean would be proud:)
I thought of him all the way through. He would have loved this car!
Yeah but there are no telephone poles on this circuit?
What a beast of a car. Absolutely stunning.
That's all James Dean was trying to do was get to that race he would have loved it rest in peace Jimmy Dean
And speeding which lead to his death. No sympathy here. I have driven that road many times, don't mess with it.

Porsche 550 Spyder is The Original Ring Meister. Nordschleife has nothing on the Spyder.
Ice cold 😎
It seems many of those drivers were just on a Sunday afternoon drive.
