Passed everything besides math in 2017 but Due to discouragement and doubt I put off taking the math portion until now 2020. Finally got the guts to go for it so I watched a couple of these videos the night before the test and ended up passing today and Completing my GED. My class graduated in 2013 and I’ve spent these 7 year of my life feeling like a worthless bum just because I didn’t believe I could do this and was worried to fail. Don’t be like me and believe in yourself, you can do this ! We are all Kings and Queens but just don’t realize our own worth . Good Luck 👍

@@Mama214Chris just watch as many videos as you can and don’t over think it ! Take the test and don’t be afraid to fail because if you do you will know what to study and will pass next time around 🎓you can do this it’s never to late

I passed the Math GED today !!!! Thank you so much Mr. Cohen. Your videos helped me so much. I dropped out of HS in the 90's. Math was my worst subject. I cringed at the thought of math and at the beginning felt I would never understand Algebra, Hypotenuse, graphs, etc. I had the basic knowledge of addition, subtraction, little multiplication/division. I can finally close this chapter in my life. For anyone struggling or wanting to give up please keep pushing. You can and will pass if you keep at it. God bless you Mr. Cohen for taking the time to do these videos.

Dropped out of high school my junior year and now five years later, I’m testing for my GED. I passed both my math and my science just based on the knowledge in these videos. @david Cohen thank you for taking your tome to go through and posting these videos! Good luck to everyone entering a new chapter in their life! Love. Update: I got my GED certificate without taking classes or practice tests. Without even picking up a social studies book. If you know how to problem solve and think critically, then you have nothing to worry about 😁✨

Reyna Love yes, I’ve just been doing Cornell notes on different slides he’s done in different videos. Quick update: I now have my GED certificate after passing social studies and RLA using these videos as a reference of study. Get representation and use of information. Work smarter not harder kinda thing.

I took all four test today on four hours of sleep. It is crazy long and exhausting to take all at once. I scored 168 in the language, 162 in social studies, 158 in science, and 153 in math. I live in Alabama by the way. I dont know if the testing is different elsewhere.
Also keep in mind that I did very little studying for language, science, and social studies. All of the practice tests and practice test videos showed that it all came down to reading comprehension. I focused my time studying algerbra.
Language was definitely the easiest for me. It was mainly reading a super long paragraph and answering around 7 based on said paragraph. I think i had to read 4 or 5 of these really long paragraphs. The stories were long and boring. In the end reading comprehension is all you really needed.
In the essay, you have to read a really long paragraph that has two arguments. The goal of the essay is to decide who has the better argument based on the facts that are presented. Pulling out information from the essay was easy, but the compiling of information and typing it down in my own words took forever. I'm not a fast typer or good speller so this one was hard to do before the time ran out.
Science was a bitch. It had much smaller paragraphs than the language portion, but it was so harder to understand. I felt like a couldn't understand English while reading most of these paragraphs. I almost didn't finish the test in time because I just had such a hard time reading the paragraphs. It seemed to be mainly testing your reading comprehension and knowledge of how to read graphs. It also threw several questions at me that told me to use a calculator. I didnt have a clue on what to calculate so I relied on reading comprehension and critical thinking to guess.
Social studies was a lot like language but a little harder. You had to read long paragraph and answer the questions based on the paragraph. You had to read paragraphs from things like presidential speechs and answer questions like "What did president mean from this statement?"or "What can we infer is the presidents standpoint from his speech?" It also talks about the different government branches and what they do. I didnt know which branches did what so I wish I had studied up on the basic government branches and how bills, laws, and acts get passed. I dont remember a ton of questions that dealt with the branches but it definitely would have upped my score if I had know the basics.
For math it had a lot word problems, make an algebraic equation from the word problems, solve for x type problems, and graphs. I cant think of anything else about math. Just make sure you understand how to graph, make an algebraic equation, factor, FOIL, fractions, exponents,etc.
During testing I would have rather have done another math test than science because your brain didn't turn to absolute mush during math. I am actually surprised I didn't score higher on my math.
Just remember to not stress yourself out before the test and not overestimate the test in your head. Im not saying it was an easy test but it definitely wasn't as bad as my mind made it out to be. To all my fellow test anxiety people, I wish you luck! You got this!

I'm pushing into my late 50s and have recently been more and more seriously entertaining the idea of college, as ludicrous as that might seem. Those daydreams have been abruptly cut short with the mortifying recollection and realization that, all those decades ago, I never graduated high school. Being suddenly set back god knows how far on my way toward a goal that was *already* daunting is almost enough to make me abandon the idea. It's as I've been grimly toying with the possibility of training to take the GED that I ran across your videos - mathematics definitely being the weak link in my chain. So with all that ridiculous folderol as preface, please let me express my deep and sincere gratitude to you for creating these videos and placing them here. Your teaching style - the humor, the encouragement, the clarity of your thought, the clear competence - has suddenly made the goal of college again seem possible to me. Gratitude seems poor thanks for that kind of a gift, but I offer it anyway. Thank you so very, very much.

I passed everything and graduated today🎉🎉, I just wanted to thank you for making videos like this. I was homeschooled for my last 3 years of high-school and I didn’t get my diploma so I wanted to get my GED for better job opportunities, and thank you for everything! Keep doing what you do.
My Advice for this test is Watch this man's videos if you are reading this step one is complete. Step 2 take the paid Ged practice test from official website on average 80% who score green on those test pass there Ged test and it will also give you first hand experience of what to expect. And finally schedule the real deal relax and you got this. I take my math test today at 10am final test to get my Ged. I haven't attended school in 5 years however I did finish highschool and received my letter of completion. The only reason I don't have my diploma is do to a standard test I was not informed about and now I have a job opportunity that's to good to pass up and I don't have to time to wait for this test to be available thus in less than 5 days I have done all the test and studied up on something's. I know Im gonna pass math and land this amazing job!

All this comments encourage me ... I've failed twice this test by 4 and 3 points. I dropped out high school and I'm single mother trying to make a better living for us. Dropped out in 1999. My junior year. Tried going for my GED in 2003 but failed math and got discouraged. Passed all my tests last month and going for math Friday. I could have my GED Friday! 😭 I'm 40 years old.

35 years since a guy has been in a classroom ... and some of these little annoyances we don't often use in real life (often) . Thanks for the brush up.
Couple of practice tests and we are Golden.
For question 6 just divide the numerator by the denominator and you will get your answer in decimal
Also if your confused with : 0.5 or 0.4 ect,just add a zero in the tens place:0.50 or 0.40

I'm 38 and I can say that the expectations for math requirements are completely stupid. Outside of basic additions, subtraction, division, multiplication, most people don't use any of this. How about teaching kids to invest instead.
I passed all 3 of science, social studys, & language arts. Practice & Real test on the first try.
I have math left and I failed the practice twice. The second time I got a worse score then the first time :/
But I am still studying and won't move to the real test until I pass the practice test so I know I can have a good chance of passing the real one.

Thank you for all of your videos! I passed much higher then I thought I would in LA and Social Studies. My final scores were; Language Arts - 163, Social Studies - 169, Science - 172, and Math - 179. I might retake science one as I think I can get the credits.
You get credits after 165 I think

No, that is the college ready not the credits. The college credits come after 175 or higher.

To me, it's strange seeing PEMDAS. I'm so used to using BEDMAS
I know I'm going to make myself sound old, but back in my day, it was BEDMAS: Brackets, Exponents, Division, Multiplication, Addition, Subtraction. I graduated in '98. Never heard of PEMDAS until YEARS later. And some of you might think: Well, you're Canadian, if you were taught BEDMAS. And you'd be wrong! I'm an American. From Toledo, Ohio (if that helps explain anything). And, again, back in my day, we were taught BEDMAS.

This is good if you have some understanding already. If you don't, and you're not a natural with numbers, it's confusing. He doesn't realize how far he needs to break it down. Like, in the undefined problem, how did he choose zero for the first x? In the problem with the square root of 36, he rushed it at the end and I don't know how he got the answer of square root of 6. Things like this add to my fear of math and my belief that I'll never get it.
I have a grade 8 education. What we used to consider high school math is now taught in grade school. Yes.... I'm an older man. I had to go back to 6th grade math lessons on the Khan academy website. That made me feel *really, really* stupid initially, but I am slowly figuring this out. Learn all the rules for algebra and relearn the math basics you " think" you know. If you need to relearn grade 2 math, grade 4 math or whatever math, just do it. You aren't the only one struggling. Being confused will only make this harder. KEEP AT IT. You'll get it.

This video feels more like a review on stuff you know. It’s sort of lazy putting the links and not really explaining the problems in detail. Not tryna hate btw, question 1 helped me. Not tryna hate.
