Glass armor was not really meant for sneaky characters though. It is supposed to be bulky and ornate whilst still being light. It is the light armor equivelent of Daedric armor :) I used glass armor for a mystical warrior playthrough I did, and used a superb retexture mod for it. See episode 17 of this series.
Stunning retextures. I'm finding that the Improved Closefaced Helmets mod works great with them (and other retexture mods providing they don't conflict helmet meshes).
Well the game did feel half-finished the civil war didn't even feel like a war the main quest was just... a main quest (its fine to be honest) plus the skyrim world felt empty without some mods.
that1dude0092 feels half finished?, empty without mods? hmmm.... main quest doesnt feel like war? seems like you are describing the complaints we will hear when TES online comes out
You, and a lot of people, don't understand the game development process. The idea is to optimize the game on a wide range of systems to sell as much as possible. They could have easily done this without much hassle at all- but even a little extra drain on systems/pcs at the time would drop their sales.
lilHippo You said "My God the dev's were a bit lazy"- I just told you that they weren't lazy, and they purposefully kept textures low-res so PCs and consoles could play the game. And you respond with "no shit sherlock"? Looks like the "lilHippo" is a lil' slow.
The ones in red are what he plans to work on in the future as he plans on doing all the vanilla armors and maybe a few weapons. I believe he's also stated that a compilation will be done at some point in the future.
Hey, Gopher. I'm a big fan of all your modding series and I like the fact that you test and make videos of all the newer and more interesting mods for Skyrim. But I was wondering if you could make a similar series for Fallout 3 and maybe continue the New Vegas Mod Clinic series.
Oooooh myyyyy goooood. Nerdgasm on that Steel Plate Armor. Its so shiny and metallic. I WANT IT!!!!^^ But thanks for doing this review Gopher, because I didn't know at all about these retextures.
I agree Gopher, Cabal's Thalmorized Elven is one of the hottest vanilla retextures going.Been using Cabal's armors since they were being called "born again" on the first two sets. The only vanilla retexture that tops Cabal's in IMO is GarryG's Daedric retex. That's going to be a hard one to outdo I think.it looks awesome but he only did the one :( I can't wait to see what Cabal does with the dragon armors, they just keep getting better and better :)
On the topic of elvish armors, you really should use the darker version if you haven't already. The Thalmer they accompany wear those dark robes and it always feel a little out of place the lighter armor on the warrior types. But with the darker version, they Thalmer seem to actually have a little coordination.
Amidian should do a recolour of all the items in the game that uses the same material as the armours. The weapons should be the first thing he does, but I think he should also do a recolour of the dwemer ruins and items you find in the game. Personally I think it could be a nice bonus to immersion, having both weapons and armour in the same style and colours, as well as the materials used for making them.
A little not to the leather armour thread comment you made: Threads of leather armour don't get discoloured if you apply some onions on them, the oil doesn't sink in it then.
Great video as always. What I just noticed: Is there still no fix for those fucked up shadows? Was really noticeable when you saw the shadow from the head on the chest armor :/
These look great, i just hope the mod author goes through and actually finishes them all. Seen so many other good looking ones where the author does a few sets but never finishes them all.
Gopher do you plan on playing Skyrim Modded more... there are more stuff you can do in DLC like the quest about Dwemer Forge and the Aetherium wars? I think you should try it out :)
i dunno... lots of retexes nowadays seem to obsess over over-darkening or over-lightening the entire palette of the vanilla source, which is usually quite good imo. and the higher-res is appreciated i suppose, but mostly by those with systems that don't mind yet another vram hit. personally i try to focus on completely new retexes (like eternal shine or the flame glass retex) that i can use a standalone for one or two characters with a certain theme and leave most of the vanilla texes alone
As much as I adore the style for glass armor, it's bulkyness does not suit the Light Armor class. It seems so heavy and thick for me. :P I definitely see what you're saying though about it being the Daedric equal, but, it just isn't working for me? And I did see that wonderful retexture you did previously, I was rather fond of it, considering the green tone from glass in Oblivion. It seemed to suit the armor and lore more.
I am looking for a crafing mod that looks to a container for ingredients instead of my inventory. That way I can just dump all my potion making stuff into one barrel and then when making a potion it just takes from the barrel instead of inventory.
I wonder how he'll do the Ancient Elven Armor (From Dawnguard) ? It's not listed and, honestly, it could use a matching helm. >.< I should suggest it...
Also at 2:54 you can see some pretty crazy looking shadows on the character. Kind of an irritation with me, though no matter how much I have searched it seems there isn't a remedy for this. What would you suggest good sir?
I need help finding a mod. It was a texture pack combiner so the animals can use different textures on the same body type. I saw gopher upload a video of it a some time but never downloaded it, and now can't even find that video.
I never used the Dwarven, Glass or Elven armors. You get better armor so fast that there's no real reason to go for a set of those armors, unless you like how they look. Same with the weapons, you find better weapons so early.
If turning everything off doesnt work for you,and you still got 13 fps, there is nothing that can help you mate, skyrim can run on a very wide veriaty of machines, but if even on lowest setting you get ~10 fps, there is nothing you can do.
Indeed, less disturbing.Gopher,do you know a fix for the color difference between head and body?I removed all the body and face mods and reinstalled Skyrim,I still face this problem and it's getting to my head! : / Thank you for your videos! ;)
at 12:56 how is this player increasing his enchanting whilst in combat? i didn't think there was anyway to increase enchanting if you weren't standing at an arcane enchanter.
5:09 Gopher Fail moment in Most Cases When you Find the Armor, It isn't supposed to be clean in a Long Time because it is DWARVEN. But I do like the Amidian Armor Better than Vanilla.
Gopher, I think it would be nice if you re-recorded the end part (screenshots). It was done with your old microphone and the difference to the rest of the recording can be clearly heard. It's a little strange.
I never liked warn & damaged textures & don't get why one would like them since it doesn't make any damn sense why something would look that way when it's freshly made. Maybe it's just that I tend to make my own armor & weapons when playing Skyrim.
great GG i actually loading ur mod aand when i see ur video ... i just say " WHAAAO" lol since i discoverd how use Mods and SKSE i play like a fool to Syrim and ur mods very help my immersion big GG from a french guy
heh, I clicked on this because I've never seen gopher make a thumbnail for a video that wasn't directly related to content in the video. The amount of dissapoint when I found out it was just a set of retextures.
Glass armor was not really meant for sneaky characters though. It is supposed to be bulky and ornate whilst still being light. It is the light armor equivelent of Daedric armor :) I used glass armor for a mystical warrior playthrough I did, and used a superb retexture mod for it. See episode 17 of this series.
best armor retexture out there!
LOVE the aMidianBorn retextures! Always excited when a new one is released.
And thanks for using my shots! Really appreciate it :)
and yet another epic skyrim mod sanctuary video :) thanks gopher. these videos are getting better and better each time I watch them.
I'm always surprised by how good your videos are Gopher - keep it going mate, we all quite appreciate it.
I love this guys Mod Spotlights, he does a Fantastic job. his thoughts
Having some issues with doing that in videos recently. It always points to the start of the video. Not sure why.
Vanilla Steel plate looks REALLY bad, even compared to the other armors. This mod completely changed my stand on wearing the Steel Plate Armor :D
Great selection and great job,
you're the man known as the voice of a good mods.
oh i totaly agree its a vast improvement ive used several retextures for the elvin armor and this is one of the best out there
Stunning retextures. I'm finding that the Improved Closefaced Helmets mod works great with them (and other retexture mods providing they don't conflict helmet meshes).
Especially on an orc :) But don't you hate it a little less with that texture? At least it is not yellow.....
I have been witiing for a vanilla armour retexture like these for a long, long time. Thank you for pointing them out to us. :)
I really love the iron armour retexture. Its amazing. I think you should have shown Ebony, Ebony mail, Blades armour, Glass, scaled retextures
Must have texture mod. My god I hate to say the dev's were a bit lazy with the texture but come on this modder does this game justice.
Well the game did feel half-finished
the civil war didn't even feel like a war
the main quest was just... a main quest (its fine to be honest)
plus the skyrim world felt empty without some mods.
that1dude0092 feels half finished?, empty without mods? hmmm.... main quest doesnt feel like war?

no shit sherlock. they could have but they decided not to. so up to the modders to take it to half the level they could have been at
lilHippo
You said "My God the dev's were a bit lazy"- I just told you that they weren't lazy, and they purposefully kept textures low-res so PCs and consoles could play the game.
And you respond with "no shit sherlock"? Looks like the "lilHippo" is a lil' slow.
Hey, those legs are the legs of awesomeness!
The ones in red are what he plans to work on in the future as he plans on doing all the vanilla armors and maybe a few weapons. I believe he's also stated that a compilation will be done at some point in the future.
Those retextures look so awesome O.O Need the Elf Armor for sure!!
Looking at the very humanoid Spriggan thumbnail, I was hoping an even more awesome armor, but the retextures are nice as well.
You and Alchestbreach should make a mod! You're both great youtubers and aspiring mod makers.
I love the dark version of the elven armour it looks fucking amazing and rlly high textured.
Al doesn't really make mods, he just knows how to make a few very basic ones.
Hey, Gopher. I'm a big fan of all your modding series and I like the fact that you test and make videos of all the newer and more interesting mods for Skyrim. But I was wondering if you could make a similar series for Fallout 3 and maybe continue the New Vegas Mod Clinic series.

But thanks for doing this review Gopher, because I didn't know at all about these retextures.
Another thing to know about these armors (!) is that the female textures differ from the male ones, which is a really nice touch :)
I agree. Basically any light armor set that has a shield to go along with it is designed for a light armored warrior.
This Mods is keeping Skyrim alive :D
I totally agree with you man, there should be a couple of retextures of armors!
I agree Gopher, Cabal's Thalmorized Elven is one of the hottest vanilla retextures going.Been using Cabal's armors since they were being called "born again" on the first two sets. The only vanilla retexture that tops Cabal's in IMO is GarryG's Daedric retex. SWEET! "aMidianBorn Book of Silence" is a compellation of all the armors. One big download, one new mod. Just so all y'all know. :)
Aspiring? :)
On the topic of elvish armors, you really should use the darker version if you haven't already. The Thalmer they accompany wear those dark robes and it always feel a little out of place the lighter armor on the warrior types. But with the darker version, they Thalmer seem to actually have a little coordination.
your the only skyrim youtuber that doesn't put naked video game characters as their thumbnail.
Yeah, I agree.
You should use the Dark version of the Elven Armor. If you look at the Thalmor mages, they have Black-Gold Colours too!
Amidian should do a recolour of all the items in the game that uses the same material as the armours. The weapons should be the first thing he does, but I think he should also do a recolour of the dwemer ruins and items you find in the game. The Imperial retexture is amazing o.O
Forgive him for not knowing of your many great mods lol, oh and congratulations on your 30,000th subscriber!
I love listening to your weird pronunciation, it sounds so... cozy :D
that screen shot 'Waiting for the Patch Fix' was amazing... it had me laughing.
I've never liked the steel plate helmet but the wings on this helmet locks awesome. Still I think It looks better with a novice mages hood.
Great video as always. What I just noticed: Is there still no fix for those fucked up shadows? Was really noticeable when you saw the shadow from the head on the chest armor :/
If you're having trouble with putting the links in the video itself you could always put time links for each mod in your video comment/description
might stat downloading mods now since these armors are almost night and day
These look great, i just hope the mod author goes through and actually finishes them all. Seen so many other good looking ones where the author does a few sets but never finishes them all.
I can't wait until he retexture the weapons too match the armors!
The stitching is fine! all this Armour is new of the shelf lol
Gopher do you plan on playing Skyrim Modded more... there are more stuff you can do in DLC like the quest about Dwemer Forge and the Aetherium wars? I think you should try it out :)
@Gopher Not quite related to this video but I've often wondered why you don't seem to use the Unofficial Skyrim Patch in your playthrough?
Gopher has several mods..? Very good ones.
when do we see stiv and his horde after taking over the vampire court
It's tea time here, would like a cup of fine British tea Mr.Gopher?
In the next Skyrim Mod Sanctuary, can you feature "New Animations for Archers" by 3ukalipto ?
i dunno... lots of retexes nowadays seem to obsess over over-darkening or over-lightening the entire palette of the vanilla source, which is usually quite good imo. and the higher-res is appreciated i suppose, but mostly by those with systems that don't mind yet another vram hit. personally i try to focus on completely new retexes (like eternal shine or the flame glass retex) that i can use a standalone for one or two characters with a certain theme and leave most of the vanilla texes alone

But elven and glass armors aren't stealth garbs. They're soldier battle gear.
Might wanna use Improved Closefaced Helmets when showing steel plate (and yes I five years to late I know)
I am looking for a crafing mod that looks to a container for ingredients instead of my inventory. That way I can just dump all my potion making stuff into one barrel and then when making a potion it just takes from the barrel instead of inventory.
Good video, keep em coming!
The way he says "sharper" is awesome with his accent. "shaawwpaer"
I installed the amidianborn textures and you know what? I just can't play anymore with the vanilla textures :D
I like it when you say "Sharper"
Hey Gophe rspeaking of armors have you seen "orcish armour blackrock -and-roll too" it looks epic and it is a realy improvment
like so he can see
I wonder how he'll do the Ancient Elven Armor (From Dawnguard) ? It's not listed and, honestly, it could use a matching helm. >.< I should suggest it...
You should do a mod sanctuary with daedric stuff.
I love your vids, Gopher :)
Gopher when do you plan plan to start season 4 of the skyrim lets play (if you plan to)
they look awesome
Also at 2:54 you can see some pretty crazy looking shadows on the character. Kind of an irritation with me, though no matter how much I have searched it seems there isn't a remedy for this. What would you suggest good sir?
I hope he will do the weapons as well!
I need help finding a mod. It was a texture pack combiner so the animals can use different textures on the same body type. I saw gopher upload a video of it a some time but never downloaded it, and now can't even find that video.
Thank you! i didnt know how to download it manually :p
I never used the Dwarven, Glass or Elven armors. You get better armor so fast that there's no real reason to go for a set of those armors, unless you like how they look. Same with the weapons, you find better weapons so early.

Hey gopher i want to thank u cuz u inspired me to do youtube video's U realy are the best thanks by the way.
Indeed, less disturbing.Gopher,do you know a fix for the color difference between head and body?I removed all the body and face mods and reinstalled Skyrim,I still face this problem and it's getting to my head! : /
Thank you for your videos! ;)
holy shit! how is amidian gonna do the daedric armor???? now thats a dealbreaker...
I think Elven Light Armor is more meant for sneaky characters.
at 12:56 how is this player increasing his enchanting whilst in combat? i didn't think there was anyway to increase enchanting if you weren't standing at an arcane enchanter.
5:09 Gopher Fail moment in Most Cases When you Find the Armor, It isn't supposed to be clean in a Long Time because it is DWARVEN. But I do like the Amidian Armor Better than Vanilla.
Wow that Amiddian Dwarven Armour looks amazing! I will be able to wear Dwarven armour finally because the old one was boring and ugly.
I think I prefer hvelgemir's armor retexture, especially the iron and banded iron. Pity he didn't continue to update it :(
Gopher, I think it would be nice if you re-recorded the end part (screenshots). It was done with your old microphone and the difference to the rest of the recording can be clearly heard. It's a little strange.
I was just wondering if there are any compatibility problems between this mod and better shaped weapons
no compatibility issues, just make sure you get the meshes you want
Good Morning
I never liked warn & damaged textures & don't get why one would like them since it doesn't make any damn sense why something would look that way when it's freshly made. Maybe it's just that I tend to make my own armor & weapons when playing Skyrim.
great GG i actually loading ur mod aand when i see ur video ... i just say " WHAAAO" lol since i discoverd how use Mods and SKSE i play like a fool to Syrim and ur mods very help my immersion big GG from a french guy
Alchestbreach, King of the Beavers!
Stiv looks very odd in elven armor.
I think he meant "established."
Is there any way to fix the horrible shadows on the character itself?
Gopher! There is a character in 'A Game of Thrones' named Stiv! You have to read it now.
when are you ganna make skyrim vids again
you didnt list your water mod....
Awesome!!!
heh, I clicked on this because I've never seen gopher make a thumbnail for a video that wasn't directly related to content in the video. The amount of dissapoint when I found out it was just a set of retextures.
Are we gonna have some fallout today?
Is gopher using a new mic?
Check out Daedric Armor and weapon Improvement by GarryG Best daedric retex out IMO.
