WHY ON EARTH would people travel THIS WAY! All of this in LESS than a WEEK! (West coat of France)
This week we are travelling the west coast of France in our self built campervan. We start off with a bit of van life in the city as we stay in La Rochelle, from there we find a cracking free park up to wild camp at the beach, before heading over to the island of Ile d'oleron.
You may be more familiar with Ile de re, but this lesser visited island is definitely worth a look. It's only 19 miles long but has a lot to see, from long white sandy surf beaches to extremely pretty old fishing towns, we'd definitely recommend a visit, and with campsites this cheap, why not?!
Come along with us on this van life adventure, as we show you what its like living in a van at the beach! Attempting to van life on this west coast is going well so far but, as we travel down the coast finding places to sleep will certainly become harder, and battling the heat may become tricky for us travelling in a van with a dog and a cat.
Its certainly hot living in our van already, and with a heat wave on the way... will we cope?

La Rochelle is actually quite nice. I developed a hatred for that place after years of hearing about it in my GCSE French. Glad you no longer have a sandy fanny, sand gets everywhere. Louise I feel your pain, sunstroke is horrible. Great video ladies, constantly laughing out loud. 😊👍😊

Spent most of this half term binge watching. All I can say is OMG the pair of you are brilliant. So much useful information. Love the 2 minute review on campsites. Love the bite size fun facts and even useful advice with animals to electrics. Even having Mum having a go has boosted my confidence. Have to say the bee 🐝 comment was so funny as that would be me.
Great content and look forward to the next one. In the meantime I have a lot of liking buttons to press.

The Île d’Oleron is lovely. It’s also reached from the mainland by a toll free bridge. The charge for crossing to the Île de Ré is quite steep. I see both islands regularly but normally only from the sea. I sail from La Rochelle.
Île d'Oléron is our most favourite place in France - we love it. I'm not sure I should tell you (as you'll no doubt have moved on) but La Cotiniere has THE best ice cream parlour we've been to in France! Great vlog - thanks.

them somewhere, one of them suffers from separation anxiety from me having an unexpected hospital stay. Also helps to

It's a pity that Brexit bollocksed up the pet passport. It was so easy to decide to jump in the van and take the tunnel south but now you need to plan a bit more in advance and definitely pay out a lot more. I must investigate getting an Irish one.

Hi Emily & Louise, We absolutely loved watching your video of you camping in the Charente-Maritime. We used to live there , right in the area you were in this video. We know the beach where you camped in the small car park where the snails are and smiled to see you sweeping the beach out of your van. We used to sweep it out of our cars too,. The Lidl supermarket was our local one, we lived yards away from there. The Ile d'Oleron is fabulous . Those coloured wooden huts at Chateau d'Oleron are traditional oyster producer's huts that have been renovated and people use them for shops and businesses. Enjoy the rest of your holiday.
You all just crack me up😂 I adore the banter between you because it's filled with love and respect any honor of letting the other person be their own person. Being conscious of that vibration frequency thing is so important because most people are clueless and that sometimes makes navigating through the world as individuals experiencing the same trip so to speak and at the same time having completely different experiences😂 ladies it doesn't get any better than that❤ I sure wish I could convince you all and the puppy dog and the kitty cat to come over to the US hang out in my home give it a little bit of love maybe a slap a paint here and there and hang out along the side of the Wilderness and go play in it till your heart's content❤ the van build-out continues❤❤

I was quite surprised that niether of you two complained of being 'saddle sore' after such a long bike-ride. it looked fun though. I remember my younger days of bike rides and being outdoors. Exhilarating to say the least, especially around the hills of Derbyshire. Cycle camping was fabulous at that time. Loved the beach scenes and the small towns/villages. Such pretty looking places.

That was one of your best, I think. Just a great vibe and that part of France looks terrific. The colouring seems different, really nice, or is that the colour of France? Maybe my monitor. Oh when Lou saved all the snails from the van - that was a relief to know they weren't getting squashed. Croissant dipped in coffee, must try that. You both looked pretty much sunburnt and I hope the aftermath didn't get too bad. AJ is so good with meeting dogs, he's a great dog. Take care and hope you're both well..

Hmmm - sunstroke? I would call it mild (totally avoidable) sunburn. Wear long sleeves and sunscreen! Sunstroke is when you get carted off in an Ambulance after collapsing from dehydration (swimming in 40degrees C weather)and spending the day in the ER on a saline drip (personal experience). An ex-Navy person scared of a modest jellyfish. They weren't blue bottles or sharks! You two are hilarious. Anyway, I don't think this video does justice to how beautiful the environment is where you are.Thanks for sharing your journey and fun times with us. Your definition of a "health kick" is hilarious. No salad in sight! Good fun.🙂

I live 2hrs south of La Rochelle,used to go there more when i lived in the Vendee..Girls you need to visit Royan ..You will pass it on your travels on way down..
