  • This tire review is on the Kumho Road Venture AT52 from Kumho Tire. While Kumho's Road Venture AT52 replaces their Road Venture AT51, it has a little less rugged design in comparison. But still yet Kumho has built this tire with the everyday driver in mind. It's a good balance for those who drive their trucks everyday. It gives all-terrain traction and a good amount of quietness and long tread life compared to other all-terrain tires in the category. Check out the video for more in depth overview of what Kumho put into the Road Venture AT52.

    I’ve had these tires for more than a year and have put about 10,000 miles on them. They are one of the quieter AT type tires I’ve ever had. I replaced the factory Goodyears for these on my f150 and it was like night and day for handling, comfort, and road noise.

    I just picked these up for my 2019 Toyota Tundra. Great tires, honestly. I've always ran Falken Wildpeak at3w, or Toyo Open Country At3. The only difference with these compared to the Falkens is that they're $300 cheaper. Awesome in the snow, and have been very good on light off road use. Quiet too.

    I got a set of these on my 2018 Silverado 1500 in a 275/60/20. I was a little worried that I didn't spend the extra 300 on the tried and true Wildpeaks. I can report that these tires are phenomenal. Granted I'm coming from the factory Wrangler SRs which were terrible in all conditions. The Kuhmos provide excellent wet weather traction. Almost no spin from a dead stop with aggressive acceleration. I took it off road through some mud holes and had zero issue in 2wd. In the snow, they are excellent. Was able to get up 10° hills in 2wd. Snow wasn't very deep though as we've only had maybe 4in. Stopping in the snow and ice is what was the most impressive aspect of the tire.

    Great videos. My goto to get a down to earth review. One thing I'd like to see now that I moved from COLD (Michigan) to HOT (Mississippi) is how the tires hold up in these kind of environments. I.E., when you experience Warm and Cold, after a year or two, the tires tend to get hard, in winter, and loose traction. I run Toyo's on my 09 Jeep P245/70R16's. Tried a wee bit taller but if I over articulate, I get a little rub from the side lugs (really bad when I had Goodyear DuraTrac's), so I lowered the height about an inch. I also ran KO2's but after 3 years, in the cold, they were useless on wet. They were too hard get get a bite sometimes.

    I have had the AT 51's on my Silverado 1500 since it was new. They aren't a very long lasting tire, but they wear evenly just fine. Just make sure you rotate them regularly and keep the air pressure uniform. They were loud at first but as they've worn down, they ate getting quieter. They were outstanding in the snow and rain when newer, but as they've worn, the traction has become quite poor in those condition, mainly due to the siping disappearing as they've worn. Sipes really need to be full depth on any tire. They ride just OK, but they handle fine. They have been giod about being self cleaning quickly. This new design looks a lot more like the Hankook Dynapro AT.

    I have the AT51 here in Australia. They do really well in the hot summers here, our coarse chip highways are tough on tyres as well as hundreds of not thousands of kilometres of dirt roads which are basically crushed quarry rock that you can pick up and shave with.
    Ive found my set to be quiet and grippy and wear evenly but it might get louder the higher you go in load ratings.
    I prefer the AT51 to the AT52 just in looks. The 51 looks much more aggressive and looks like a hybrid between a KO2 and the Open Country 2.
    I think the 52 is more in line with the Dynapro AT2.

  • @brettnorman2252
    @brettnorman2252 2 года назад +8

    These are super compelling for three reasons in my book: traction that is as good as most other 3pms rated ATs, reasonable cost, and weight. Weight is often neglected but in my size (275/55/20) Falken wild peaks are very heavy. KO2s are like lead weights. Even cooper AT3 4s are heavier. Grabber ATX are heavier. Only the open country AT3 are similar weight but pricier and have worse road comfort rating.
    I’m serious considering these for my Defender 110

    Great videos, watched quite a few. Thank yo Matt for sharing your expertise. I need new A/T tires for my Nissan Xterra (to replace Duratracs that have become very lumpy, noisy and wet/winter grip is fading as the threads down to 5-6mm) and don’t tow. Here in Quebec, 3PMSF is compulsory December to March. So my shortlist is these tyres or the Falken Wildpeak AT3W. Most of winter my driving is on plowed snow which become extremely compacted (almost like ice), plowing is so good that deep snow is rarely an issue, freeways are often bare tarmac but with a wind blown dusting of snow (strangley the most treacherous conditions (?). Summer mainly tarmac, the occasional gravel road, so for spring, summer & fall I’d like a tire that is less tiring to drive (duratrac’s to noisy and too much vibration. So the suspect the AT52 would be smoother in summer and better Siped to shallow snow and ice. Would you recommend the AT52s or the AT3W or something else ?

To soften the ride I dropped from 35 to 33 psi and has resulted in cupping. Also if your into detailing your rig all Kumho tires use compounds that brown/blume easy due to the anti mold agents. Benefits of the tire are I have never lost traction on or offroad. I’ve hit potholes on downtown or ruts offroad and haven’t blown a tire. Cost was relatively inexpensive for P265/75/16

      That was my other choice coming off of the Falken AT3W's that cost a lot more now. The Rubitreks had a nice price drop for the holiday promo's. Time will tell if I made the right call!

      @caseyragar 2 года назад

      @@marting.4974 Yes I've been pretty pleased with them. They ride quite, smooth, and look great. They're a slight bit louder than my OEM tire that I replaced but that's an easy trade off for how good they look and ride. Great tire.

      @@acc1tester398 I would think the AT52 would be a better road/highway ride than the Toyo AT3. The tread void on the AT3 is wider than the AT52 which in theory would create more road noise.

      @acc1tester398 I've owned both. Kumho at52 is a much better on road tire. Very quite, comfortable ride, really good in the rain and lighter.

    Hey, Matt! I was looking to see if you reviewed the Yokohama Geolandar A/T G015 and I couldn't find it. I like your perspective of your reviews and wonder what you think of this tire. My wife and I have a 2021 Nissan Titan 2wd lifted 3 inches and think of going with this tire in a 295-60r20 size. Can you guys make a video of this tire? Thanks!

      I know this is 2 month later, and this is just my experience. I have had the Geolanders (35x12.5x20) on my F250 for about 1.5 years now and will never get them again. Had belts break in 2 of them and the instant they got into any soft, slick mud they would completely pack and wouldn't clear. Essentially making them slicks. Honestly don't have one good thing to say about them.

    I bought these when they 1st got off the boat. I think adequate describes this tire well. Wet conditions in a pickup is a little more sketchy than expected. So spirited drivers should spend more for better wet grip. Driven with common sense they are fine. So not quite as good as a Hankook Dynapro ATM which is a fine tire. Don't expect it to be a Falken AT3. Not pulling mine off or anything, just be aware of this tires nature on trucks in wet and worse salt belt conditions.

    I'm between this and the Yokohama GO15. These are lighter but Yokohama never mises. These look like rip off Toyo AT3's but do look for agressive than the Yoko. Which is better for Maine year round driving? I don't see mud or off-road more than a dirt road to a camp site.
