It is free, they do song rotations but you can also buy as well.

I agree but it happens! I feel the desync is off sometimes. I also sometimes miss when I use the star power until I find a better keybind for it.
How do u get gold stars?
You get gold stars by playing on expert mode and getting around 99% it seems without missing too many notes.
