      Weird. I was thinking, "I wish he taught that kid manners. A room full of people don't need to hear one person in the audience talk the entire time." Usually, Finegold tells them "no talking" or "shhh" or other similar things, and I really wish he did here.

    Thank you GM Finegold for all of these great lectures. You're the perfect mix of wit, general knowledge, and great chess analysis. All the best and God bless from a fellow vegan and chess enthusiast who clearly remembers when Fischer took down Spassky...just about 6 months after I'd taught myself how to play chess.

  • @AG-ld6rv
    @AG-ld6rv 2 дня назад +1

    I agree that Kasparov isn't the greatest of all time. The reason is he had the backing of a football team of fantastic GMs analyzing for him. It is almost like he had an engine to help with preparation when others only had a second and maybe a third. He had people examining his opponents and analyzing with Kasparov getting notes and reading them. He was still magnificent at chess, but the large advantage he had during preparation just pushed him into a new league during his peak. I could be wrong, but if the second best player in Russia got all of the resources (with plenty coming from Kasparov), I think they would have had a stunning career as well. People like Morphy and Fischer who did it all mostly by themselves impress me much more. My list is 1. Fischer 2. Morphy 3. Kasparov. After that, there is maybe 4. Magnus and then it gets a bit harder to judge the dozens of immaculate players to put as number 5.

      1) People disagreeing that Morphy/Fischer were better than Kasparov.
      2) People annoyed by the kid in the video.
      3) People annoyed that this is a re-upload from an old lecture.
      4) People not realizing this was for a beginner/kid’s class and expecting this to be a higher-level lecture and not one showing opponents making pretty bad blunders.

      According to accuracy (analyzed by Stockfish using all available games), Carlsen is first by a tiny edge, Fischer is a close second, Morphy is third and Kasparov is fourth.
      But Carlsen can easily drop to second place if his accuracy drops as he gets older.
