    Thank you for the information. Learning more every day thanks to your video's. 63 years old and still a learner. I grow weed at home for my wife who has a Bipolar diagnosis. Medical cannabis cost an arm and a leg here in NZ. I used a 400 watt HPS for many years however our son who lives in Australia sent me a 450 watt quantum board recently and my results improved significantly. Cheers from New Zealand.

    You are invaluable. I'm taking a lot of time to learn before diving back into growing. In 1987 I added sodium lights to my grow room after discovering someone had crashed into a street light. I went out and cannibalized the light. Times have changed.

    For anyone growing in a closet, you can easily supplement your main grow light with some cheap RGB LED strips from Amazon around the bottom and the outer perimeter. Place some aluminum foil sheets on the floor to get the light bouncing around. With enough saturation and reflectivity you can eliminate the need for low stress training techniques completely.

    Thanks for information. Fast Buds stated that although autoflowers can grow very well on 24 / 7 the lights themselves may be damaged by continual use. As a manufacturer is there concern around 24 / 7 use.? As for as the plants, my experience is they thrive on 24 / 7 with no visible signs of stress, even though some pundits say this is harmful.

    • @1SmokedTurkey1
      @1SmokedTurkey1 3 года назад

      Ok I had this same question and it was basically answered in one of his videos but I can't remember which one. With autos, since you can have a light period much longer than 12hr, the amount of total light used can be less! Simply because you have a larger space of time to "deposit" the same amount of photons as you would in a 12hr grow.
      Look up DLI (daily light integral). Basically, iirc, he said with autos it's best to shoot for 20/4 and target 550umol. Anything more and the plant can't use the extra light unless you're supplementing with CO2.

    I think it would be cool If light manufactures sold a lux meter calibrated to par for their specific light, in a tent and outside a tent. That way you could get like a 30-50 dollar par meter sure to be accurate within 50-100 par . Could be a really good way to separate your light from the crowed if you bundled your lights with a calibrated lux meter.

      @@3x3me88 i would agree with increasing temperature.
      Your old light helped water flow through the plant and carry nutrients. The plant isn't carrying enough water now... There is a limit, you can't always make up for it with additives, the plant just can't do it.
      So try increasing temp, you can also dim the light a bit to slow the plant down so it isn't overworking.

    One thing is not correct. When you add far IR LED's you can mimic sunrise and sunset, what you do with that is up to you, if you keep running 12/12 it will do nothing. The plants take about 2 hours to know it needs to go to sleep and change and stop photosynthesis and go into night mode. If you use far reds this goes down to 30 minutes. What you can do if the plant (strain) allows is run 13.5 hours of light and 2x30 minutes of IR, this will ensure that you give the plant proper rest time as well.

    Hi Shane. Love your content and need a little advice. I recently talked with Mars Hydro about the 1000 for flower. I'm under a TS600 atm' but flipping to flower soon in a day or two. I asked if the 600 will do for flower in a 2x2, but conceded that I'd probably get a 1000 for mid to late flower stage anyway (since its within budget range). The rep' said the 600 & 1000 have the same spectra. But the photon intensity (wattage?) is higher for the 1000 (obv*). She/He stated that yes, the 1000 will produce better yield, but since I inquired about my supplemental side lighting of a 2000w (prob 45w*) blurple "theoretically" lending that extra 45w to the 600's 95±w (yeah I know, it doesn't work like that). She told me that I'd need more red. But as she said, the 1000 & 600 have the same spectra. I asked where will the extra "reds" come from if they both have the same spectra, and didn't receive a reply from that point on. Really pissed me off. Am I missing something ?

    • @freedom_born
      @freedom_born 3 года назад

      N.B. Oh also, a quickie. Since I'm giving 10hrs of good sun (Aus). Consequently only requiring 2 more extra hrs of tent light. Would the 1000 really be needed. Yeah I know, kinda stupid question. But I didn't wanna clog my original comment. Just genuinely curious.

    • @seraphim3r
      @seraphim3r 3 года назад

      just get the 1000 and turn the power down according to the PPFD measurement with your meter. worrying about wattage is now old school and outdated. so is adjusting for height as long as your light has an adjustment pot.

    • @freedom_born
      @freedom_born 3 года назад

      Yeah well that's kinda the whole point isn't it. The wattage allows for the highest intensity. 🤦‍♂️

      @freedom_born 3 года назад

    • @Khaymen223
      @Khaymen223 3 года назад

      @@freedom_born yes he meant the adjustment potentiometer. And when dealing with new efficient lights he was right......wattage is now almost irrelevant. (To a point) watts themselves are just a measure that we use to pay the electricity company. So if a light takes 100 watts to turn on, it then outputs a certain amount of photons. With different light brand companies, the incoming watts may be similar, but the 'output' amount of light can be different. That output is umol/j......id suggest the youtube channel - growmau5.....many of his live vids cover the subject

    Isn´t the far red for the Emerson effect? if i understand it correctly it boosts the productivity

    • @MIGROLIGHT
      @MIGROLIGHT  3 года назад +5

      The Emerson effect studied the effect of using wavelengths at 650nm and 700nm at about 5:1 ratio. Combining them resulted in higher growth rates than the growth rates resulting from applying them separately. 650nm to 700nm is in the PAR range, Far Red is 700nm to 750nm. A lot of white led spectrum LEDs have a similar proportion of 650nm to 700nm (MIGRO ARAY PRO is 7:1 ration) so it is not necessary to add additional Far Red (730nm) LEDs. The best explanation I have found is here: ruclips.net/video/yqJBdNOHY5E/видео.html

      the efficacy rating shown in this video of these lights is based on the amount of light output per juole. If you’re good at growing you can easily pull 2 pounds per high end led at almost double the efficiency, almost half the wattage draw, not to mention passive cooling. So unless you’re making up for that by averaging ~6 pounds per hps light, I don’t know what your definition of coverage is

    the Black Dog people sell the costliest grow lights.
    the basis for which is presumed to have lots of research and
    study to justify what they are asking.
    thus i was all ears to hear you say their led mix had been reverse engr'd .
    and their secret recipe of discrete frequency leds is now widely known.
    and how that combo fits in with your presentation for its efficiency.
    except no mention of them was heard. did i miss something ?
