Using John to crack or recover forgotten password once you have "passwd" and "shadow" files.
The following can be added in john command to try common passwords from file.
john pass --worrdlist /root/desktop/passwords.txt

When I enter john --show pass
it says.. 0 passowrd hashes cracked, 2 left
