The thing about Phil is, unlike a lot of other singers, he was always able to match songs live as well as in the studio. Because we've been spoilt over the years, the drop off is noticeable, but only because the standards he set, were so high. This is still a good set.
I was there to sing with the band, to celebrate one of the greatest band of last century - it was such a memorable moment ! And yeah, many times Phil was a bit off, but what a performance ! How many "singers" today can sing live as Phil did, without auto-tune ? Can't wait to see videos of the next concerts to see how it will improve :)
I was at the concert on the 20th of September. My heart went out to Phil when I saw him but he was great. Sadly all of us grow older and for some illness comes with it. I felt very emotional at the end when I knew I would probably never see them tour again. Phil's son was outstanding on the drums, one to watch in the future. I wouldn't have missed the concert for the world. I have supported Genesis for over 40 years and for me there is no one better. Phil, Mike and Tony you will always be legends and I cannot thank you enough for all the enjoyment your songs have given me. Long may your music reign supreme!! P.S. Thanks for doing Domino - one of my all time favourites!!
Forgive Phil for being not in his prime anymore - to put it mildly. But the rest of the band is great as ever. Especially Nic is a powerhouse behind the drums. He drives the old gentlemen to their best.
Heartbreaking to see Phil this way. The guys in the band must also be devastated watching him get weaker each year. I would have never given up this opportunity to see them together one last time. Had a wonderful evening. Phil you are one of the greatest musician and entertainers who ever walked this planet. God bless you mate. Genesis were a MASSIVE part of my life and I thank you for everything.
We all know it’s is the final tour for these guys and maybe the last time we see Phil perform. To me this is there way of giving us fans one last thank you and for us fans it’s a chance to give this band a last thank you for the decades of joy.
Domino is a real underrated masterpiece by these guys. Purists won't bother listening to anything last 74' or 77'. It's their loss. Some real jems in their later discography.
Quite agree to say dukes travels is pop music is strange ? But that what the cement drinkers think ! They’ll be some tosser shoutout for the knife ? Always is usually pissed !
Its a beautiful farewell❤. Everybody knows it is the last time. Genesis have touched the lives of all of us who have listened to them. So glad I finally am getting to see them in Newcastle. Bittersweet. God bless Genesis.
I loved the audience here. Especially the OP, Mike. Hearing 'Oh yeah!' as Phil start to explain the domino principle put a massive smile on my face. Thank you, Mike, for all these uploads. It's the closest I will ever get, sadly.
Thanks for sharing this for those of us who can’t be there ❤️ my favourite song… They sound amazing - gosh I wish I lived in the USA or the UK… what I’d give to see this. Glad they’re doing what they love one last time. Phil did a great job.
GENESIS IS STILL AND WILL ALWAYS BE LOVED!!! I admire him fighting and letting this show happen. Loving every second of every show cause this is more than likely it. GENESIS FOREVER!!!!
I have tears in eyes, listening first half Domino. Of course, Phil sang good, but this voice and drum is sad, dramatic, emotional. :):):):):) I love this band and Phil.
The best, thank you Phil and Genesis for all the best/great memories!!! Love you all, love your music!!! I hope Phil can find more relief for his pain!! God Bless!
My eternal gratitude to these monsters of contemporary music. It would be beautiful if they made a small set together with: Peter and Steve on the one hand and with Chester on the other. And finally a set all together. Dreaming costs nothing ............... Thanks to all who keep us informed at the moment of everything that happens. Big salute
Thank you so much for sharing these awesome videos! It's very emotional to watch knowing that when I see them in Detroit Michigan USA in November, it will likely be the last time I see them live in concert.
Thanks from Paris.
Can’t believe Phil’s son Nic is a good drummer, despite being only 20 years old, almost the same age his dad was when he joined Genesis over 50 years ago, looks like Nic has inherited his dad’s drumming skills
Not tone “death” here. He doesn’t “nail it”. He’s dragging as far as tempo goes and there are more than a few bum notes. I’m glad that so many people loved this tour but I wouldn’t have paid $5 to see him in this state. The key drop is very dramatic for this tune.
Went to newcastle to watch a master class by a group which have spanned the decades . What a pleasure to sit in attendance to one of the greastest groups i take my hat of to the courage of phil collins to still want to perform on a stage to entertain all of us apsolutely brilliant amazeing
Mike's guitar work in this, especially the "hammer horror" section is really making me nostalgic for his Mechanics work in the 80s, classic Rutherford riff. Even with the song pitched down, it sounds equally powerful and delivers the message in the lyrics and fits the atmosphere. It sounds like Banks has updated a few of the patches he is using in this song too, more orchestral in the bridge section leading to the hammer horror sequence and its reprise later. Classic Korg strings! It really is hard to find modern music in this kind of vein nowadays. There's a ton of 80s nostalgia type of music out there that draws in influences from Michael Jackson and Prince, thinking of artists like The Weeknd, and there's tons of neoprog out there to keep the flame of their 70s influences burning, but the kind of thing Genesis did in the 80s is kind of rare now. I'm glad for all the memories they have given me throughout the years and thankful for the hard work they put into this tour, given all the circumstances involved.
One of my biggest regrets was not seeing this band live. I missed it this time too. I’m happy Phil went out and did this, they have nothing left to prove.
Dude don’t worry just send love to Phil he needs it now more than ever you will have a wonderful time. There was talk of an Australian tour I’d say that’s never happening now so consider yourself so very lucky
I didn’t have high expectations for how they could pull it off. Other Phil having a little flub with the lyrics, it’s not as bad as I imagined. Some of the other clips I’ve seen, I quite enjoy some of the songs in the lower keys.
Mi gratitud eterna a èstos monstruos de la mùsica contemporànea. Hermoso serìa que hicieran un pequeño set junto con: Peter y Steve por un lado y con Chester por otro. This is great for Talent Night at the Nursing Home ! But seriously although not optimal vocally this is better than just about any other group touring by far. If you would have told me in the mid seventies I would be watching these guys in 2021 I don’t think anyone would believe it.
Thanks for sharing. Awesome stuff. I saw Genesis on 03. July 1992 at Parkstadion Gelsenkirchen (which stood on razors edge, because parts of the production were stuck in a lorry-driver strike from the previous gig in belgium) - and sadly it's not to compare with this tour. All titles are transposed and sound strange to me, sadly Phil isn't Phil anymore. And - as fantastic as Nic plays! - Genesis live without Chester feels wrong. :(
@@ACatCalledSnow I thought so too. His solo tour he got better as the shows progressed, I think because he feels more comfortable and knows what and what not to sing. Also I think the shows count as a physical work-out he just doesn't do as often when not touring. However due to COVID I hope he will be able to keep up his physical health as well as possible to get him through all the dates.
It is good to see Genesis play live again. They surived the depature of Peter Gabriel as lead singer, so with due respect why not bring in another singer when Phil finishes?
I love you Phil but can you really complete a tour genesis was a fast paced band it's not the way I want to remember one the best times in music history !
So sad hearing phil saying the same old stuff just going through the motions.i saw them at wembley in 87 when this was fresh and great and less than 20 quid entry.so so sad. As for his voice well words fail me to think people actually paid a lot of money for this.😢😢😢😢😢
I love Genesis and have followed them since I first saw them in 1980. I have been to all their concerts and in 2007 I went 3 times. This however is embarrassing to watch and I am pleased that I didn't waste my money. Collins has had it - too many years drinking, he is just a sad old git and he's not that old at only 70. Tom Jones is 81 and can sing better and has almost 100% movement! I cant believe that people paid money to watch this. Music great but vocals crap.
Ouchh... What do you mean by destroyed? This man is a hero. Just because he is sitting down? Who cares? People are showing how much respect and love they have for him and the band. He is a TRUE LEGEND.
Come on, be serious, Phil's voice is so way off key and time it's cringeworthy. Seen Genesis so many times over more than 40 years and this is too much to bear.
When playing music there is no such thing as a wrong note....it is a variation....I love their honesty to perform even if they can not copy the youth of the past. This ishere an now. Genesis was always special, still is. Some unique magic around the sounds and arrangements. Very cool!

Always been one of my favorites!

Honestly the people bitching about Phils vocals must be tone death... Other than a few bum notes he absolutely nails this!!!
His timing is off quite a bit on songs too.
