Don't worry about not doing a Masters first. I did my honours and then I went into the PhD program 8 years later. While the former Masters students did better than me at the start, I quickly caught up and ended up doing a much better published Thesis and papers. I also have the best career when compared to my Masters peers. Something to think about. Forget the Masters.
You must have been a precocious student. Certainly direct PhD can be advantageous for some students. I have addressed that in this video Direct PhD Advantages! ruclips.net/video/yk7Vp_iSJSY/видео.html

Sir I have a BSc Physics Honours degree and MSc Applied Physics degree . I want to get a PhD in Experimetal Physics program (Nuclear Physics, LASER Physics, Plasma Physics, Reactor/Tokamak) related to nuclear energy how can I find institutes best suited for these experimental studies in India or abroad. How can I get into a PhD program in India's top research institutes if I don't have NET , GATE or JEST qualifications. And how can I get into research institutes in abroad.
In India you can apply for IIT, IISER and IISc and other institutions for PhD. Check the admission process in their web page. Sometimes they interview without exams. Otherwise you may need to give some exam for short listing. You can apply abroad in USA, Japan, Europe etc. see these videos ruclips.net/video/Ybpa9EA4Bfg/видео.htmlsi=z1bSmiOklauNzeiG ruclips.net/video/FiyZPtRZ6Y0/видео.htmlsi=rgDCSJB7suk-KuGh ruclips.net/video/-3_RKjeGF7U/видео.htmlsi=Oy-gXC3aGr3psfmH ruclips.net/video/ILZYk9ismsM/видео.htmlsi=lDVSwJGjTlKKdrZ9
Sir can i do two degrees (one regular & other IGNOU distance course) simultaneously? as per UGC guidelines if any? Which university allows such thing in Odisha? Plz ans
You will have to check the guidelines and rules yourself. One degree at a time is generally good for most students if you want to assimilate the knowledge
Hey! As a post-covid bachelors degree graduate and working in academic research for the last few year, I think your videos are really helpful in making sense of academia. Do you recommend this marination of masters degree before PhD (regardless of what is expected) for a student who feels that their bachelors didn't provide the academic rigor that they hoped to derive out of college? Because Im thinking that for a truely passionate student coming straight from a bachelor's, a direct PhD might be really intimidating, what do you think?
Personally I did a masters degree and would recommend one before the PhD. I took additional courses at the graduate level which helped me cement the knowledge needed for research in the PhD. So I would recommend the masters degree for most students.
Sir, then what about the new policy that is direct phd after four years bachelor's? Here, the last year of bachelor's will be fully inclined to research which is equivalent to the thesis or research that the students of masters are doing now. Will it not be saving the time of the students who are opting 4 years bsc along with research and also thinking of direct phd ?
Yes there are many advantages of direct PhD also. My videos just want you to expose you to all sides of the debate so you can make an informed decision. See this video Direct PhD Advantages! ruclips.net/video/yk7Vp_iSJSY/видео.html
Sir I’m currently pursuing BTech Hons in Biotechnology and Biochemistry… and I'm doing my 6th semester right now … I’d like to know if it’s better to do a direct PhD or do it after my Masters (even though there are corresponding dangers to both) I'd like to stay in research field… preferably abroad or any premium institutions in India… Also, I did some internships at institutes like RGCB, NIMS etc and is planning/ trying to pursue it from ICMR etc The thing is I don't want to end up achieving nothing
My personal opinion is that doing a masters is a good idea before doing a PhD. That is what I myself had done. It gives you better background in terms of courses and builds confidence.
@@Drganguli but isn't it time-consuming sir? Also if I'm pursuing Mtech I'd need to invest 3 in it plus 3-4 (on avg) on PhD soooo... Also, many uni offer master's along with PhD right??? Like IISC?
@@nandhana2862 True. That is why it is the call of the student. The professors also try to take precocious students for direct PhD so they have less problems. If someone is sure of their desire to do research then direct PhD is the way to go. In general if you get admission into direct PhD, you should be able to do it. There is generally an exit path with masters in most cases too.
If you mean do these at the same time it will be too much work. Direct PhD will often involve a lot of courses as in most cases the student needs additional courses to do research.
Hlo sir, I pursued Bsc in Medical laboratory technician can I do direct Phd without Msc? If possible what specification is best to choose? Please give a suggestion.
It may be possible to do PhD in some institutions. But I would suggest that you get a masters degree as otherwise your background may be too weak to do the PhD. However, if you are a precocious student then you could do the PhD directly.
I have done research on Reviewing evolutionary frontiers: Pioneering hyperglycemia detection for disease management, it is going to publish in Oncology and Radiotherapy of Scopus index. Can we apply for both a master's and a Ph.D. degree at the same time?
Yes but applying at the same university for masters and PhD would be inappropriate
