Looking at the game right now. Just got off work but waiting to listen to this. Didn't play 1st one and haven't really ever played an RPG.
I recommend you play the 1st one because they are very similar because the 1st one is cheaper, instead of spending 70$ on the new one and the game doesn't hold you hand at all

One more tipp for beginners like me. If you don't give your character or pawn a moniker name, they get one auto-generated. And if you change your ingame language it's the moniker's name that gets displayed instead of character's or pawn's actual name 😳

once you load from inn rest, will that load save still exist or you have to rest again to create a new “backup”?
The camp site seemed to work for me..? I was at the beginning of the game and i loaded at my camp site. BUT now i am questioning if it was actually the main save i clicked instead. I shall have you run a test now. Maybe hit back to back rests when i have no time sensitive quests logged and see if it will fly. Not that i don't trust you, your also not the first place I've heard this info but i just gotta see it for myself now, thanks to me believing for the last 2 days i loaded an inn save at camp lol
To note if you have friends that have ponds you can use them without any cost of crystals.
Thank you for thoroughly explaining the save system, this is very important, and the way it's set up, it's going to cause a lot of people, a lot of problems. Like you, people are going to lose hours of gameplay. I don't know wtf they were thinking, but this is a horrible save system, it's so easy to not pay attention to which save you're loading, but at least now I know.
Its not horrible at all you just Need yo pay attention and learn to live with the consequences it’s good training for real life where people have a lot of problem with handling the consequences of there actions :)
You can just make a cloud save and if you screw something up you can just reload the save your system will typically upload one save a day of any progress is made

Also if you have friends who own the game you can summon their pawns for free I think you have to have the same console though so psn,xbox,steam
Does anyone dare to make a prediction about how similar the DD1 weight tiers will be to those in DD2? Will 50 still be minimum and 109 maximum? Considering that going below 50 is quite a bit more difficult in DD2, as 160 cm, while not tall, is also not as unnaturally small as you could make characters in DD1, so I feel like at least the minimum weight might be raised a bit. Similarly, I also feel like 109 is not that big of a threshold anymore, and it's very easily reached in DD2, as long as the character is tall and not too skinny. So I would almost guess that both, maximum and minimum, might be higher this time around. Would love the exact numbers, but at least so far, I couldn't find them.
Edit: Also thanks a lot for the save game clarification. I hate nothing more than losing progress, so that is extremely good and important to know.

Same brother, I was balls deep in my 2nd vocation and kept getting ganked so I went back to the inn and was back at level 2

I’m kind of confused about why they even have a manual save option if the auto save just over writes the save. What is even the point ? I’m not complaining just confused
I think it’s supposed to let you save and stop playing but whenever but still have a sense of permanence for mistakes that get saved.
The game says don’t be reliant on auto saves
Makes in-game choices feel permanent vs save scumming. Way I see it, the devs want you to live with the choices you make so the way they effect the world feels natural instead of curated because you picked the best outcomes for yourself by reloading your saves.

The only issue I have with DD design is you can't save/load multiple instances to try new paths or things to find what you best like. You are just stuck with w/e you do first. In some cases, the thing you didn't want.

Your Max HP dropped.
When you get damaged, you'll see a white bar in your HP which will tick down to your current HP. If you don't heal before the white bar reaches your current HP l, that's your new HP Max now.
In order to reset your Max HP, you gotta sleep in Camp or at the Inn.
So basically you will spend most your time looking up where to go on you tube then actually playing the game.

This game is not the same as dark arisen 1. You can save and load back an old save so you can have better loot from chests. Since auto save writes over manual save...is a deal breaker for me....not gonna buy it. Especially when this game has microtransactions . 😅

It's to make your choices matter. I like the design choice. And knowing ahead of time helps a lot. Unlike most games, your choices do matter in this
Yes they are stupid some how they think it's challenging about as stupid as not having a waypoint so you spend hours looking up on Google how to start a quest.

9:30 ok so listen up and listen close for I shall reveal something I figured out when I was playing ds3 that in games like these where it auto saves and makes it seem your "stuck" and having to start another game i found out that if you have ps plus it uploads to the cloud and it does it automatically or you can do it so I found out if your in a situation that your not sure on a decision to make or you mess up your stats leveling then you can make a save before said incident you can up load the save and then proceed to do said action and if its something not worth it you can redownload the save and it will overwrite and put you back at square one so any way you can figure to use this method will save you a headache and heart ache

Also. Dude? What do you think about the lack of skill/spell slots? Not having alt R1 for the face buttons is killing me. Can't take half the spells i want. First game felt far too limited with only 6 slots. Now we only get 4!?! Really hope enough people complain it gets the devs to patch in the missing slots. Having a mage that can only do 3 of the main elemental boons and ONE offensive spell just seems smooth brained to me. Might be okay if it's a support pawn but for the main character..i want to get IN the fight. I don't want to just be spamming the single offensive spell i have no matter what enemy i have to fight. "Fire works good on wolves!"

No warning of microtransactions to the pre-release tubers they got to publicize this. Shameful, and they should offer a Steam refund to those that paid top gaming dollar for pre-release. That is skating the fraud boundary.
easy fix, dont look at the DLC? everything can be gotten in game easy.
Read the steam reviews before you waste you’re money on the game,it’s fundamentally broken and filled with micro transactions for basic game feature like fast travel and revive

The micro transactions are basic BS and don’t affect you in game. You can play literally every class so “starting new” makes 0 sense as well. You can change your characters appearance if needed. So I’m confused on what your getting after here except hating because of other people’s reviews
It’s also not “filled” with micro transactions. It has them available but doesn’t throw them in your face at all like almost any popular game currently does

I am so disappointed in this game … the enemy diversity is pathetic, the pawn AI is rudimentary at best, and the graphics are mediocre … this game is so inferior to BG3 and Elden Ring it’s painful
